Good morning, TEAM LIT!!!

Yesterday was my birthday -- oh how I love my birthday! -- turned a whopping 42 years of age. I freak'n love it! And thank you to all the birthday wishes here and on FB and e-mail. Y'all are amazing friends and really know how to put a smile on someone's face. I had a pep in my step all damn day yesterday, and it was because of you, and mind that I did an ultra the day before! Thank you!

Weekend recap...

Saturday: 4 mile gentle jog. Maybe 3.5 miles. Who knows.

Sunday: Rhode Island 6 Hour Ultra - Was a 6 hour timed event. I ran 38 miles with an average pace of 8:45 in 5:31 time. Ran out of time to complete another lap, sort of. I probably could have slugged out another lap but, well, I was cooked and, after the 5 hour mark, was no longer having any fun, and since this was for me a birthday celebration run doing what I love to do, and since I had no intentions of racing nor was my mindset there, when it got stupid hard, I caved in. Which was stupid in the end because I could have leap frogged in the overall standings the 3rd male overall to take home more money. More money is right. Because I *did* take home cash. The race was also the USATF New England Ultrarunning Championship. I took 2nd Master and some cash. I had been in top-3 Male overall until that last lap. I could have walked and taken 3rd in USATF standings of overall for a double-dip cash prize. But that is all hindsight. I didn't know I was that close and even in the lead for money. Had I known I would have sucked it up another 25 minutes. But you know what? I was a GREAT birthday!!!

Monday: 1.5 mile keep-the-streak-alive run.

Tuesday: 3.5 to 4 mile run early this morning. Body feels AWESOME considering the ultra.

Great day, y'all, and thank you for all the bday wishes!

Happy b-day again Thor and congrats on a fantastic job at the ultra. I'm extremely impressed with the results you put down. Well done!

Easy 3 mi on the TM this morning, 10 min/mi. Testing the knee out. Felt okay, iced for 30 min afterward. I'll ice again tonight and hopefully be able to ease back into running. No rush, I'd rather be 100% starting back into training.

Have a great day everyone!

Thanks, Mike!

You're in that in-between spot. Take your time, heal up those injuries and niggles, and have fun from here until the end of the year. Then kick it up for your busy race schedule in 2012. You have what it take, you know what it takes, and your work ethic will drive that talent to something even greater. But focus on being you, not being who you were yesterday or the day before. But you already know all of that.

1.5mi on the treadmill after work. Daylight savings is not my friend in the evening. Oh well, I guess that's one of the reasons I bought the 'mill!

Thor - It is just amazing how quickly you are improving in the mountain running scene. With your background, maybe I shouldn't be surprised... as you learn how to deal with 'the new elements' on the mountain running you are just kicking arse left and right. Keep up the great work and fun!

5.5miles on TM late at night. Did another progressive run, started this time at 9:30pace and sped up 30sec/mile every mile, and the 5th mile being 7:30. After sitting down/eating catered food at the movie set all day long, I felt quite blah and the HR showed that. Or simply my legs were still tired from the Sunday X race. Today's HR was about 4-5bpm higher than the last one at the same pace which started at 10:00pace and finished at 8:00. Or who knows - the TM accuracy is in question. It really doesn't matter. Something to look at while running on TM.

So finally, I saw J. Franco today. He seemed so... ordinary. Mission accomplished nonetheless. I think shooting for DD is done.
