Hit the treadmill again this morning. 12.8 mi in 1:30. Set the incline at 0.5% and my right calf is not happy about it. I'll decide tomorrow about whether or not to just give up on the incline, every time I introduce it on a consistent basis (not doing just a hill workout) I start to get injured. I'd really like for the TM to more closely simulate the road, but at this point it may not happen.

FIB strength/core workout. 3 time the following:

 20 lunges w/dumbells

 50 crunches

 20 squats w/dumbells

 20 pushups

 20 bench rows w/dumbells

Have a great day everyone!

Mike, do you do calf-specific strength and flexibility work? Do you ever walk around barefoot to let your calves stretch out a little bit? I'm wondering if they're chronically tight and the extra stretch of the incline pushes them over the edge.

'nother DOR for me today. Most of the soreness has subsided. Going to dig out my road bike this evening and get him ready to ride on the first nice day.

Sounds like tomorrow and Saturday are our best bets to ride outside (at least up here)!

Early morning 5-miler. First part with Bailey the Wonder Dog, second part solo. I know it's the taper crazies, but it was an odd run...pace was fine, but just felt like I struggled through it. Glad when it was over.

5.5 run with a couple of running buddies. Added hill school hill, up and over and back to the loop. Broken upwith a short walk with a friend who use to belong to the Y but left several years ago. Bump into her once in a while so i like to touch base. Tough getting up this morning after watching Bruins game last night, hard to go to sleep after that.

Warm/low 60s - sunny and very strong wind. Crawford/Grinnell to Powers turnaround to Amherst/Watson/path/Upton/home. Short progression run. Started out slow, had to stop and tie a lace in the first mile. Ran the last 2 miles around 7:15 pace, mostly into a strong headwind. Stretching afterward.

Scott - sounds like you had a great time at the camp. Keep up the good work and stay away from getting injured!

Mike - no brilliant ideas here, but hope you can figure out what could be done to make calf happy on inclined TM.

Jen - I know exactly what you mean by 'pace was fine but struggled though it' Hang in there - your body will get used to the low mileage by about 2 days before the race!

First brick of the year! 2 loops of the nearby State Park singletrack. Chicked 3 boys. There were still two trees down (which would require more than chainsew to take care of).. I am still slow but getting better and comfortable to trust the grip of the tires on the corners. Followed by 30min run on the trail. Yikes, totally heavy legs and super slow. Glad to get this first one out of the way. 2hrs total. Looks like I can get out to do this off-road brick Tuesday evenings thanks to no driving around the kids. Happy about that.

Just under 41 miles outside on my bike in the afternoon. Thought I'd have to pee on the bike, but actually came across port-o-potties! Daylight fading faster than I would have liked it to near the end of my ride. I have a red blinky light for my saddlebag, but no headlight (didn't need it to see, but to be better seen).
