Rise & shine kicksters.

I'm up stupid early after taking DW to the airport. Deathwatch is on in Oregon for her grandmother and she decided to head out early and help with arrangements and such. I'm still on the homefront in VA but expect to be headed out there in a couple of days. Until then life goes on as per normal, or something like that.

Had I been more organized and slept more than 3 hours last night maybe I could have run some morning trails. But I decided to stick to my routine and I packed a bag for the ole' workday run. The only question is whether I hit the bunny trail on campus at lunch or do some real trails at Manassas Battlefield after work. Should be great running weather around these parts, looking forward to it.

Happy running all.

Good morning. I was up at 5:30 for a p90x workout (back and biceps). It's supposed to get up to 90 degrees today, so I'll be heading to the Y for a treadmill run.

Stepped on the scale this morning, and it wasn't pretty. I've been slacking too much on the exercise and healthy eating.

Good morning everyone.

Hawk - It is nice being up early. Have a good run later.

Jebba - Nice workout! Wish I could do the P90X. I tried but some of the moves just didn't do the knee so well so I quit doing it.

Me - Up bright and early and started riding at 5:30 for a 12.7 mile commute to work and then off for my 30 mile ride with the guys. Average speed for the commute was 17.1. I had a good 30 mile ride. We didn't push too hard which was good, including the commute I had an average of 17.7 through mile 28; the turn around point for the 30 mile ride. Now it was time for my 8 mile race pace tempo ride. The first 4 miles I average 24.8 and the legs were feeling every bit of it coming up the hills. The second 4 miles I averaged 22.5 with an average for the 8 miles of 23.6. Total ride, including commute, was 44.38 with an average pace of 18.2 mph.

Dave - nice double ride!

BBS - Have fun in the sun. Remember to wear your shirt while at the dentist. No need to scare anyone.

zrun - nice early run.

Jebba - must be muscle weight

Hawk - hope you get out to on the trails. Sorry to hear about the "deathwatch".

Like zrun, I enjoyed the nice weather this morning. Got in 9 miles w/ about 1/3 on the horse trail requiring plyometrics to avoid an excessive volume of "droppings". Felt good for the first two miles then the wheels fell off and had a dead leg shuffle for the rest. Managed to hold low 8s all the way. I really need to call the massage therapist today.

I got in my first run since last wednesday. All I can say is that I got the numbers in the books. 5 miles 43:59(8:48). I am still killing the end of this cold and hoping to be done with it soon. Nice job getting out there everyone.

Well I started it off today...and now am I closing it up?

I finally got out to the trails after work. Great run at the battlefield. I stuck to just one 5.2 mile loop because that's what my plan for the day was, plus after only sleeping 3 hours last night I thought it unwise to push my luck. Still I felt like I could have gone more. I was very surprised to find that my "easy" pace on this challenging course was 7:58/mile.

Oh and it looks like I'll be heading to Oregon Thursday. DW's already there. Funeral Friday. But I don't return til Sunday so just maybe I will have a free day on Saturday to hit reset and kick out a big run. I'm bringing my gear of course but not sure how much I'll be able to get in under the circumstances.

Lots of solid running, riding and um, cross training out there today.
