Hmmm Hmmm Hmmm. Badgers and Truffles. That should ring a bell, but it isn't. What a puzzle.

Badgers are the mascot of Wisconsin teams aren't they? You're not Mikey I don't think though...

I'll figure it out eventually.

10.1 miles or so in 1:27:48. Very slippery conditions, with the bake and shake weather we've been having the sublimation doesn't complete during the day and the stuff freezes over.

Nothing focuses the mind of a runner more than cresting a hill on a sidewalk and seeing nothing but black ice as far as the eye can see.

Still and all, a good run. Easy week this week in preparation for the final push.

Have good ones all.

Clue # 2 was what I ran yesterday 8am-4lunch-8pm -

If you are familiar with Animal House - "Flounder" - Yes I know I do not have the most appealing nicknames

Today is too crazy with work and appointments so I'm taking one of my two rest days this week today. I did teach pilates & yoga classes this morning -- that felt good.

Lunch run - 6 very easy miles on TM - I feel like I am getting in a fat burning zone (I hope) - All the runs are to burn calories for now - I am also building base. The purpose of my training weeks in my journal are titled "Weight Loss" until April 22 - April 23rd - "Need for Speed"

Good running to all-

Hill day. 1 mile warmup, then 5 repeats of ~500yd hill, faster on each repeat, then 1 mile cooldown.

Love hills, I do. "Speedwork in disguise," as they say.

Why do I like hills? You can see the top. Like the finish line of a race--it's something to strive for.

Hills on a treadmill aren't the same. First off, your recovery isn't downhill--it's basically flat--which doesn't work your quads and sense of balance. (Maybe that's a good thing sometimes.) Also it's not the same psychologically: It's just up and up and up, and then level...not up and up and up (huff! puff! mercy!) and then down we go! (wheeeeeee!!!!)

The Ray - Some of us have a hard time finding hills - I was thinking about this very issue today as I will likely run Boston in 2008(Can't wait to see the Womens' Trials (Not as pumped up about the Boston Coure) - Thinking of sneaking some padding into the YMCA to stick under the back legs of TM next winter.

There are hills around - I will just have to drive to them and not just go out my front door.

Been a long time since last specific hill workout (over a year)

Hi everyone,

I am still not well enough for a run today. I am close, but not quite there.

I intend on doing my other exercise routine tonight, for the first time in 9 days.

If all goes well, I will try a very short, very easy run tomorrow, but I'll let my body tell me that for sure.

Thanks for all the continuing get well vibes. They are working folks.

Have a good/safe run today.

Any embankments you could run up and down? River levees?

Mind you, a "hill" here in N. Central Texas is not usually something garagantuan...the one I ran up this morning probably rises only 75-80 feet in half a mile.

Here's an idea for you--

Check out http://www.topozone.com

They have topographical maps of everywhere in the US. Find any place where the wavy contour lines are close together--that'll do for a "hill." Plus they have a search function where you can locate hills and other terrain features. My son is a map enthusiast--he surfs that website just for amusement.

Good enough reason to run on the TM tonight: 15F at 6:45pm.

10.5 miles total
3 mile warm-up
4.5 VO2Max Intervals (6x800m; with 400m recovery jogs)
My running group bailed tonight and left me on my own. Ran to and fro the YMCA (2mi each way) and ran the rest on the TM. Not entirely a bad time; pounding out some intervals inside tonight.
