Good morning all!!!

Very sluggish treadmill workout this morning - just didn't have any oomph in the legs. Did just over 5 miles with some 1/2 and 1/4 mile intervals at about 10K pace.

Didn't post yesterday's run...did 5.5 pushing the otters in the stroller. We went by the local fire station to see if the fire truck was out, and we ended up being invited to sit in the truck, tour the station, and even went home with coloring books and plastic helmets. Super cool!

Have a good day all!!

Adco: Maybe you has what I did. I am finally on the mend buy still under with stuffy nose etc.. It seemed to come at a good time for me sort of being that I was in taper. And for you it should be the same because the work is already done.

Me...

3 mile run with the ironmate. Calf very stiff. More a hobble limp run. But I'm convinced there's no perm damage, just something that may take several weeks to straighten out. Hope to get in time for Boston to at least jog.

See ya

Adam, hope you're feeling better. It's hard to take the time to recover when Boston is so close, but listen to your body! My weekly training update is that I can now do 30 minutes on the trainer every other day alternating with 30 minutes on the TM (with intermittent 10 % incline intervals). This is added to my daily plethora of PT excersises. I guess I can consider that multisport! All I can say is that it's great to finally be able to break a sweat in a workout. The lake is almost entirely unfrozen so it won't be long before I'm stuffing myself in my wetsuit!

I have one word for you - E stim (maybe that is two words) Find a PT who can do it. It is great. I wouldn't want to be running past your limping self at Boston.

Hang in there! It took me a week-and-a-half to get over my viral infection. You'll be ready to go on Patriot's Day!

Would be nice to run with someone during my last few training runs. It's getting really lonely. In regard to running at Boston...Adam, I'm sure you'll still be way ahead of me! I do have goals, slow though they may be compared to some of yours.

Hoping to get a short run in early this evening, but my shin is still kind of bugging me. WTH?

Track today...

The regular track was locked up. We couldn't figure out why, unless it was because it was still dark. The time change means that 6:00 is no longer light. :(

So, we went to Rabbit's track where she teaches Phys Ed.

Yay.

Chilly misty day.

She was in long pants and a jacket, and I was in compression shorts and long-sleeved tech-T. Talk about a difference in gear choices.

2 laps walking to get the blood going, then in with our descending quarter miles.

We were in the middle of the track, lanes 5 and 6....

and, I was using my brand new Garmin!! Yes, I pulled the trigger and satisfied my inner geek. ADCO helped me get it interpreted and set up and the past few days I've been testing it out.

I find it particularly fascinating to set it on bike mode, and wear it in the car. :) I can make it think I'm a SUPER FAST biker-chick!!!

Anyway.......

I descended ALL 8 laps, and the last one was at an 8:40 pace.

Of course, I about choked when we finished, but all's well that ends well.

Our average over the 2 miles was 10:03-ish.

Quite happy with those results.

Next up on Track Tuesdays is learning how to run even quarter miles.

I hear that that's harder to do than to just descend.

Adco, as I mentioned above and countless times before under separate context, one run does not make, nor break, a training season. It is the compilation, the entire body of work, rather than one single or even two workouts that will be who you are on the day. If it comes to a single workout then you're not where you think you are. In other words, see my first point.

Thanks, Zdoc!

Thanks for the tips. Don't know that I can get that here, but honestly, I'm not worried about it. I am stretching (and walking, on purpose, because it is stretching the calf and making it feel awesome) and doing the right things. I could push anything at this point even if I were hard-headed. So no, I'm not overdoing it. Just on vacation and exploring the area with my wife. See you in a couple of weeks... I hope!

Som chatty bunches today!

Another busy day at work. I am in Greenville, SC. Had no idea but it is a beautiful city. A great running/bike path to run. Unfortunately this was a must rest day, so I ended up walking 1:15 enjoying the weather and scenary.

48 min on the trainer this morning.

~2.75 mile run this evening. The run felt better than the trainer ride! Was supposed to be 5 miles, but my anterior tibialis has been bugging me. The run was feeling very comfortable and I was at a convenient stopping point, so I decided to quit while I was ahead. It's all good, right? The hay is in the barn (as they say).
