Running with ROTC.

a.k.a hitting the track.

They're soooo young, and polite. When they run (I mean BLOW) by, they say, "Excuse me, Ma'am" he he he.

This morning, they were doing shorter work, sprinting the straights and walking the curves...in groups. So, I just asked, "Where will we not be in your way?"
They were cool, "Oh, it's ok, we'll just run around you." lol I could've just smacked 'em!!

2 mile descend by quarter miles.

Hard effort.

Yay!

Found a 9:40 pace in me for the last split.

Of course, I was 'bout ready to hurl, so I suppose I did what I was supposed to do.

good workouts folks. Shorter than usual run this morning based on who was there and where to ran as we only went about 3.5. Good run, spent sometime dodging black ice. After stretching went into the pool for a quick 600 yards.

Short work run - 4.1 miles; about 8:20 pace. The best thing about it was actually getting out there and doing it (was very tempted to blow it off).

Had a long weekend at the New England AG Championships in VT.

DD had a decent meet - best placing was 16th overall in 50 yard BK (or 18th/693 recorded swims so far this year in that race for her AG in the New England LSC - VT, NH, RI, MA). That was the only race where she made finals (top 20 swimmers and 2 alternates in each event).

Otherwise, she finished 28/92 in the 50 FR, 22/68 in 50 FL, 34/45 in 200 BK, 37/62 in 100 free, 31/38 in 50 BR, 23/89 in 100 BK, 46/52 in 100 FL (kind of tanked that event), and 30/101 100 IM. Mostly she swam around seed, with unexpectedly good finishes in the back. Lots of fun (esp. watching the pomp and circumstance of her first official "finals"), but draining at the same time (up early, hotel beds, too many restaurant meals).

Thank you again Stitcher for getting me off my rear and out the door this morning!!!! :) Nice job on that 9:40.

4m chilly run with the pooch. Tried out her shiny new harness (ok, it's not really shiny but it's new) and seemed to work well. Still sore from weights yesterday and as much as I'd hoped the run would loosen me up, I'm walking around like a 90 year old now.

Congrats, reg to your DD for making it to the final!

Cruise interval day (Amazingly I am not getting bored with this... week after week doing the same freakin thing), 8miles total including 3x2miles at 7:40/mile target. The legs were heavy from the start and I was fully ready to cut it short since I was considering to make this week cut back as much as 20% all around (not only overall volume but also the 'faster' volume). Surprised myself with decent speed in spite of a definate higher RPE. Ended up at ave. 7:28. It seems to be a pattern that I run decently with tired legs. I guess that is what this marathon training is all about, training me to run bettter after 20miles. Is it wrong to start dreaming about tapering.....

1.25 hours on the trainer this afternoon and a strength workout yesterday. Hoping to be able to go for a 20-30 min easy, easy run tomorrow. Still not sure if I should head out to Stu's 30K on Sunday...

Feeling much better than I felt last week and my balance is better...I can walk in a line, one foot in front of the other, without immediately falling to one side! Walking with my eyes closed is still dodgy. Did a forum search for "vertigo" today and found Yoshiko's and Stitcher's posts...didn't know so many other folks have to deal with this. Ear-nose-throat Dr. felt mine is due to inflammation of the inner ear and not dislocation of those crystals in your ear.

I too want to thank Stitch because I almost bailed. I got out there. Granted, I did the workout entirely wrong, but I did get out there.

Was supposed to be all Z1. So Z1 jog a mile, then walk up a hill a minute, run down + 10s - also at Z1. Apparently, I decided that a 6:18min pace was "z1".. um, no. But it was FUN! Did 7 before I remembered I was supposed to do in Z1. So did one - 10:30 pace.

Then jog home

First day was... umm... still not sure. For a big company it is amazing to me the disorientation for bringing somebody onboard. The whole process was a little disapppointing. The project I am going to work on seems set up the same way. So honestly, it's too early to tell. Also, I haven't really met anyone yet who I haven't met before during the interview process, and today, my second day, I was offsite solo for a seminar, which actually was a nice "break" from the disorder on my first day. Having been at my last job for so long, I am really trying my best not to compare. But I do miss the old job and especially the people and how professional yet down to earth it all was. I think I can get this at my new gig, but right now it is very far off.

Thanks for asking, Julie!

Seriously, work has been a complete bear for the last week.

Literally, the only positive things said to me over the last week have had to do with running....and, to hear it from multiple people here is soooo very helpful.

Not to get all maudlin, but...

The rain finally stopped so I got out for 10 miles with 5 at tempo BUT I neglected to consider that I didn't eat so much today and near-bonked and then got downright hypoglycemic on my way home from work. Finally got some food in me and getting back to feeling normal.
