I hate humidity. It was about 65 degrees and 8500% humidity (ok, really just 85%) this morning. YUCK!

8 miles with 4 at 15k-1/2 M tempo pace ... that's what was on the schedule today. So I did a 3.1 mile warmup which ended at the track so I could easily (HA!) do the tempo part without it being hilly. Apparently I was stuck in the same gear for the first 2 miles on the track, doing 8:35's when I should have been doing 8:10-8:20! Managed to bump up the speed a bit and did 8:13 and then 7:58. But I pushed that last one like I was racing a mile and that's all I could do. Chugged along another 1.2 miles home for a total of 8.3 for the day.

I could blame it on the heat/humidity, but I think my speed has gone North for the summer ... it certainly doesn't seem to be around these days!

I'm with you Jen. I used to love it, but now that I'm in a semi-arid climate I've grown to loathe humidity.

Hill repeats for me. 8 miles total at a pokey pace.

3x.35 mile, 2x.5 mile, 1x.35, 1x.66, and 3x.1, most hills steep, last repeats insane.

5.25 miles this morning in 75F temp with 84% humidity. Is this supposed to be MN or am I still in Vietnam? I was just dripping after the run. I guess I went and did it a bit too fast too. 7:58/mi avg pace. The first 2 miles were closer to 7:15 (which is blazing for me!) and the last 3 were slowing down.

Taking tomorrow off from running since I ran yesterday too. Dont usually run 2 days in a row, but this jet lag is just taking its toll on me and I have been up since 230am.

Hi! My name is Humidity and some people loathe me! I confuse the hell out of people because of the way I am measured, which is the amount of moisture relative to the amount at dewpoint for the temperature at the moment. Actually, it IS confusing isn't it!!! Truth be told, if I didn't exist you would be dry and scratchy all over all of the time. In fact, you might not even be able to live! Males and females like me in different amounts. Females a little more males. Anyway, it seems like I'm appreciated here about the same as an extra axxhole, so I'll be on my way for now. Bye!

Oh yeah, 6.8 miles at 18C in bitchin humidity conditions! HR was probably 15 beats higher than it should have been under the circumstances.

5 mile recovery in 43:19. I probably should have run that a little slower, but I felt sluggish enough as it was. 70 degrees and 85% humidity. Ugh.

Well, you did run an 8:19 pace for an entire half marathon just 3 months ago, and a 7:13 pace for the An Ras More 5K like a week later. I think you are too hard on yourself. Running a mile as hard as you can near the end of a hard workout on a hot day isn't necessarily the best gauge.

.....

Another strange workout for me tonight at the track. He's got us doing a 1200M, followed by 12 runs lasting 60 seconds each (with 60 second rest). In this heat, I expect to lose quite a few pounds!

Recovery run - 4.8 miles. I felt fine. An uneventful run. I guess that's a good thing for a recovery run.

Thanks for trying Mr. Humidity but I am still too confused to even try and read through that and make sense of it.

If I do run today, it will be a real nice recovery run, I'm not sore, but I did try to do a tempo run for the past 2 days in a row, so nothing fast for me.

Hi all,

jensparks - We all struggle with heat & humidity. I think it's impressive that you had one mile under 8:00 in this heat and humidity. Hang tough!

As for me, I had a two-a-day today with 6 miles this morning on pavement, and 4 miles this afternoon on trail. Both recovery runs.

Here's the data on the 6 miler this morning. It was very warm and humid.

No ticks tonight. I wore repellent. I did go through a few places where I might have picked up ticks, but I didn't go through my prime suspect area (for those familiar with the trail, out by the power lines).

Run Segments
Taught pilates this morning. This afternoon I went out to the Outer Banks with a friend for some biking. We rode an hour in which I managed not to die even though I fell over once and almost got hit by a car once. I was having major issues clicking out of my pedals today, not sure if super high humidity had anything to do with that.

I need training wheels!

Paced a buddy (who just started running a couple of months ago) at the Corporate Challenge (3.5 miles) after work. His goal was to run an 8:30 pace for a sub-30 finish. Finished in 29:40 with a 8:28 pace.

91 degrees. Pavement temperature at 4:30 was over 120 degrees.
