Good morning, TEAM LIT!

Interesting day for me workout-wise. Got a 10 mile race at 6:45 pm tonight. Haven't run that late in the day, or really later than noon, since, well, Ironman Lake Placid 2008, so we'll see how the body and legs respond. But on the other hand, I just couldn't pass up my Typical Tuesday Trot with the gang, so I know I will not set any records. Plus, I'm not exactly in shape to race a 10 miler for any records. Haven't done speed work since last week of March. No worries, though, because I will try my best, only that I will likely start out on the easy side and work into full-out rather than starting full-on knowing I would eventually crash.

So...

5.65 mile run early this morning with Andyman and the Diesel.

Later this evening...

10 mile race + 1-2 warm up and 2 to 4 cool down with 10 other club mates. We're going to and from the race in a limo. Will be fun! :)

Greatest day, Tri-peeps!

Oh how I love waking up at 4:20AM, stumbling into the bathroom to put my clothes on, all the while thinking to myself, "Why in the hell am I doing this?" Oh and my neck still isn't 100%.

3,000m in the pool this morning (500m wu, 4 x 100m drills, 200m-300m-400m-500m @45 sec, 8 x 50 drills, 300m cool down). Just when I think I have got this swimming thing going in the right directions, well things go astray. I was all over the place this morning, swimming smooth and relaxed one lap, tight and sinking the next. I will get it one of these days.

UPDATE: Lunchtime run - 1:00 (at :10 insert 2 x 4.5 min Z4 @1.5 min jog). Ended up going about 7.5 miles with my 4.5 min pace between 6:50 - 7:10/mile average. It was hot, but not that humid. I had to wring my shirt out after the run....NICE!!!

Have an epic day everyone!!!

It's DS's 17th birthday today! We'll be headed into Seattle for some fish and chips on the beach.

Later I have 1:15:00 on the bike with 3:00 lactate intervals with 3:00 ri's.

Tempo run....

Felt good.

The first mile was fast-ish, the 2nd slower by a full minute, but each of the remaining 2 miles were 15 seconds faster each time. So, I don't think I negative split, but I sure did descend the last three miles.

Then, work with Lisa. One legged squats are getting easier. Still not balanced, but getting easier.

The monstrous desk goes away today! I'm soooo doin' the happy dance.

Now, if I can just get a paint color. I'm narrowing it down. I think I'm headed to the taupe family, rather than the tan family. we'll see.

Thor have fun in Newburyport tonight. Doesn't seem right as the humid weather is not due until tomorrow and that race is always a killer.

6 miler this morning from the Y. Met running buddies very close to their start and then did the loop. On the way back to the Y I did 1 high school hill and then a pickup 400 around the track. I really need to start thingking about Reach The Beach in Sept.

Maybe a rest day or squeeze a short run later. Super busy with work/life.

Finally back home from 8-day trip in the PNW. Great, great trip. A quick summary later for those helped me planning. And Racine HIM RR later too. It seems a decade ago I did that race. 6:14 something with a flat tire. Absolute worst half marathon in my three HIM's due to being so nauseated after a very enjoyable 56mile ride.

miles--THINKING was your first mistake. You just do. If you think, you will realize how crazy this all is!

Headed to the metropark for bike hill repeats this morning. Not bad, although I suspect I'm not hitting 'em hard enough. 20mi total.

Back at the van for a quick transition, then off for a run 'round the meadow. Had planned for x6 but during the 5th my gut reminded me that on hte bike I had the new gatorade and it doesn't like the new gatorade. So rather than a 6th lap, I did a dash to the POJ. Lap times of 7:12, 7:05, 7:04, 7:05, 7:04. Total 4.15m, 35:32, 8:33pace

Any suggestions on what to do with the new gatorade? It gives me nasty diarrhea. I don't like drinking plain water, so don't drink enough. Dilute gatorade gives it enough flavor that I drink what I should. Should I just keep trying it and hope my gut gets used to it?

Rode my bike to the pool for ~2500 m at masters swim this morning. Main set was 1500 m straight. I''m racing this weekend so I took it easy and finished it in 28:20. Hoping to convince BIL to hang around a little while after he cuts the grass to watch the kids so I can head out for a run this evening.

At least you did it! And hey, 4boys is right... at this stage, think not about the what's and why's you are up. One foot in front of the other, and soon you will forget about it, and by then you will wake up to find yourself already on the bike (or in the water or road). Nice job!

So true. I'll take 89 degrees with low humidity over the last bunch of years. Doesn't seem right. But you know, I don't discriminate. I'll still sweat! :)

Remind me again, when do you ride with your group? Tuesday and Friday?
Flavored water might work for you. But, honestly, I don't get why you don't drink plain water. Your body needs it. Who cares what it tastes like. Maybe easy for me to say. I don't know. But with the kind of riding you do -- and even your all around training -- I'm surprised to see this.

You're right, I shouldn't have been thinking, I should have just been getting dress and hurrying out the door. Thinking is overrated and hazardous to my ambition.

Your're right Thor, I did just do it. Once I was out of the house and in my car all was forgotten.

@Thor: Good luck at Yankee Homecoming

Me: 3.1mi run along the Charles River after work as ~1.2mi moderate, 6 x (1:00 hard/1:00 easy) and then about ~1/2mi across the bridge straight to the bathroom at work. Yeah, it happens. I was supposed to go to the next bridge making it 3.8mi but it wasn't possible. It was 91F at the start of the run but with low humidity -- definitely uncomfortable but doable -- not like when it's humid.

Had a great run last night, ran with another team mate. 7.6 miles in 59 minutes, first miles at 9min/mile, 8:30, 8:20, then we were at 7s in some good heat and humidity. Trying to run in the heat as much as possible later in the day, because you never know about the IM marathon.
