Good morning friends. I have yoga class tonight, so I decided to get up early and run 4 miles on the mill. The legs felt amazingly fresh after the 6 miles at the gym last night. Running outside is still out of the questions, the roads are icy, icy, icy.

This Tuesday tempos are starting to feeling a little bit easier as the weeks go by. I ran 2 miles at 9:13 and 1 mile at 8:57 (I know, this pace is a crawling pace for some people here...but it sure felt fast for my legs :uhoh2 W/u and c/d was done at a much more slower pace.

Happy runny and happy tapering to all.

Good morning, friends. I'm ever so slowly ramping up my mileage. Today I did a total of 3.5 walk/run combination, and I feel great. Plus 15 mins of good deep stretching afterwards.

Have a wonderful day.
Enjoying this warmer weather,
You guys are doing a great job today!

8.2 mi at 8:05 pace (last 6 mi at 7:55). Felt wunderbar!
It was 41F in the dark with very dense fog. It was so foggy that at one point I could just barely make out the yellow line on the road. When the rare car approached it was like an interrogation light (not implying any experience here) and I had to almost stop to keep from wandering into a ditch. Why do they alway turn on their brights?

Have great runs!

Yes, we are enjoying warmer weather here too! Nice runs!

I went out for my 6 miler and my calf bothered me too much to continue. I have a long run planned for Thursday, so I thought I'd come back home and ride the bike.( hate to miss these great temps though! ).

I don't know, just when I think it's better, wham, it's bothering me again. I don't know how I'm going to ramp up my mileage like this. I guess I'll have to just do the best I can.

Enjoy the day!

Gin, have you tried wearing a "calf sleeve"? It has helped my calf quite a bit. The ones I have are made of that scuba-diving type of material and are very stretchy. In fact, I had to get an extra small in order to have it fit properly! Now mind you, I'm a big girl.....so they do run quite large.

Something like this: http://bracesupport.com/helyweber/thighcal.htm
This is the one I have and I rinse it out every day, and wash it a couple of times per week.

Good luck,
Good morning.

I heard the Pro bumped into Bill Gates in LV. Something was said about Bill doing some tri training with the Pro after his retirement from Microsoft but I found it kind of funny the Pro didn't make this video:

Yoga on tap for tonight. Since it's SherpaJ Day on VRAA I might squeeze in a little extra something too.

BTW,

Erika I liked your moose photo the other day. That's crazy!

Thanks Riley. This really may help. I've tried to find one at the local drugstores, but no luck. I do wear an ace bandage during the day since in my job I stand alot. Do you wear it just when you run?

My PT says I should wear it anytime I do vigorous exercise, especially running. He said to also wear it if I was going to be up on my feet all day, such as walking around at a conference or marathon shopping. My leg does get sweaty when I wear it, so I actually have 2 of them and I switch them off and on when necessary. For example, the one I wore this morning got sopping damp from running, so I took it off to shower and won't wear anything on my leg today for regular work, and I'll launder it tonight. Tomorrow I'll wear a clean one for my ambulance duty all day, while the other one dries on the rack. They do dry quickly, fortunately. I have tried other brands besides this Helly brand and I don't think the other ones are as comfortable. These have really helped me a lot and I recommend buying one and trying it out if you can.

Good Morning Kicksters! Thanks for starting mariposi, ah come on, get out there on the ice. Cheryl nice avatar. Gin and riley hope those injuries heel quickly.

A scene from outdoors adventure.

Something that I learned yestarday was that I need to wear some sort of ankle protection as there are times when I am stuck in a deep single track and from time to time the shoe will hit my ankles which smarts just a little bit. The problem with trying to run along the side of the track is that the trails are narrow and slope away from the track causing stress on the ankles, like running on a slanted road. This is also true for trying to traverse the hills, while the rails provide good traction, it over stretches the ankles, so going straight up or straight down is best.

We have another front blowing through here. Our solid little house actually shuddered from a few gusts it took last night. I have decided to postpone the workout until tonight during DS' karate, when I can go run hill repeats on good ol' Mount Doug. Coach is calling for 4x4 min, or about 750-800m.

Good morning Kicksters. Thanks for starting us out Mariposai and thanks for the photo Larry. I always love the pics you post.

I'm back at work today and my son is back in school after a 2 wk Christmas break and snow day. He was SOOOOO happy to wake up and find out that school was on as scheduled. And I was happy to get back to my office, have my morning latte and peruse the boards a bit before I start working.

I'll get in a run on the TM during lunch today. I encourage everyone to read the memorial that Marathon Princess wrote up on her friend SherpaJ, who died last fall. For those of you playing the VRAA, you've probably read it or will be when you hit the VRAA board at some point. But even if you aren't playing, please take a moment to read the sticky on that board entitled SherpaJ day. It's really a moving tribute and I think all runners can identify with the kind of special friendship that MP and SherpaJ shared.

Have a good day everyone!

I was aiming for 6 but a garden variety miscukulation made me a little long in the vine.
Included was .75 miles discalced, since it was warm enough to tender my tootsies to the grass.
