Good morning, TEAM LIT!

Today my company was sold to another. It is a pretty hostile takeover, if there ever was one. We were told that we would find out by the end of the day what, if any, role we had in the new company. Word is that many will lose their jobs. Regardless of what happens, for me this is what I've worked so hard at for so many years. Even if I lose my job, the mission today is accomplished. Wish me luck. Hopefully my loyalty and committment to company and product will be rewarded, but I hold no illusions of anything other than my job is now complete.

Me...

8+ mile run early this morning. Ran the typical Tuesday trot with Andyman and the Diesel, then went off to do 5 repeats of a hill that took 2 minutes to climb.

Great day (I hope for me), Peeps!

I just had The Best swim! One of those when you finish with a "damn that was good!" Main reason? Pool heater was broken and water temp was 76*. I didn't overheat!

Wow, hope things work out for you Thor.

Showed up at the health club for the usual Tuesday morning group run to find out that everyone else was going to run on the treadmills because 'the forecast called for 10 degrees with the wind chill'. After some much deserved mocking of my running buddies I headed out on my own. Got 12.5 including some good rolling hill work.

Thor - Jeepers! Your hard work will be rewarded, the only question is in what capacity. Good things are headed your way no matter WHO you work for.

Labs at lunch so the run I have on tap will have to wait until after work provided they don't play vampire and drain my arm like last time. Better load up on juice and a granola bar!

Thor- Keeping my fingers crossed for you. I know how tough it is to lose a job.

42 min run for me this morning. 13:00 warm up, 6x(1:00 hard, 2:00 easy), 13:00 cool down. Came out to 5.37 miles.

Thor - Sorry to hear about work suckage. Given how hard you work, the type of person you are, and your persistence (and optimism) - I'm sure a new opportunity will be along soon ... hopefully a better one.

4.1 mile run; 36:00 minutes (about 8:45 pace ... although steadily slower from an 8:00 first mile).

Literally, my first workout (run, bike, swim, elliptimathingy - anything) in 5+ weeks, hence absence (I'm sure you all missed me ).

Not pretty.

However, with uncle dying recently in mid-60s and early death of dad, time to keep up the routine. Plus, it's my 30th HS reunion this year. Wouldn't look good to show up with this burgeoning winter weight ....

Ron - thanks for your kind comments on the yesterday's thread. No worries - I have been doing core/upper strength work 2-3/wk.

7.5miles hitting nearby hills 6 times. Sun peeked for 10minutes, beautifully, then dark clouds came back. More snow on its way. Core/upper body later. I got to take care of this tight hip muscles.

Thanks for the words of support on my job -- or, should I say, the one I had. Unfortunately this buyout was hostile. The company, as we knew it, is now dismantled. All but a third lost their jobs, but due to a law that says you can't just jack a company, some are being held for a few more months to get around it. Either way, this was brutal for nearly everyone. We were told that the only one's lucky enough to be offered a job in the new company were those with a skill set that company already had open reqs for. All product lines are now, or soon to be, dead. They wanted us for our customer base. They are paying me until mid-March to look for another job -- and get health insurance. After that time I am on my own. I feel confident that I will find something. It just may not be the type of job that is as fullfilling as the one I just had, and it may not pay as well. I'm okay with it all because, honestly, complaining does no good. What is done is done. And what is done is that my job is now complete. I am free to move on, to open a new door. Thanks for the continued support everyone.

What's amazing to me is that this job was so rewarding over the last nine years and always met with steeper challenges, and the people were all A-players and good company people, that I did not, never once in that 9 year period, even think about updating the resume. And now here I am... ready to update (gotta find it first!) the resume and see what adventures will come next. Hopefully I will have a choice. either way, it's pretty exciting.

Sorry Thor,

I'm not sure what you did/do, but if you let me in on that info, I can see if I know anyone. At the very least, enjoy your time off and enjoy being a Kept Man.
