Good morning, TEAM LIT!

Reg: DD is kicking ass! Speedy fast to be in line with D1 collegiate. Congrats to both of you.

Muffin Queen: FYI... in case you haven't seen it, I gave a rundown of area trails in yesterday's daily.

Me...

5.65 mile run early this morning with the usual suspects. Wear-tested a pair of shoes for a company (not aloud to say yet what and for whom). Shoes are the next version of a newer line. A little too rigid for my liking. They are more a cross-over road/trail, so I'd be curious to try them on trail -- today was road only.

Beautiful warm morning in the CLE - 45 at 5:00 am and going up to near 60 today. I'm a wimp, so 45 is no where near shorts weather but it was still great nonetheless.

Nice 8 mile run with 4 tempoish miles (hard to get up to speed as there is still a bit of leftover ice and snow around).

Thor - I have a pair of shoes similar to what you are testing - did not work out as a road or a trail shoe but on a snowy, icy morning they are my "go to" shoes.

Yo Sake - I am running Cleveland in May. Not very exciting, but inexpensive and I always run my best marathons when they are close to home. What is your spring marathon, Boston again? Lots of great trail races in this area - almost every weekend year round. We are so lucky to have such great parks. Please let me know when you are coming and we can meet up again :)

Good workouts to all!

5.7 from the Y this morning, including a up / over and then back up / over high school hill. We were expecting to do some snow running as the weather forecast called for dusting to 1 inch but it never happened. It was a very good run. No double today as I had some things to take care of at lunch.

Hawk - tempo run at 5am on a possible icy surface?! That's crazy! I want to know more about your "go-to" shoes. Like to do Clv marathon sone day, the timing won't work with tri season. Not doing Boston this year, debating either Athens (oh) or Xenia on 3/25 or 4/1 or somewhere around it.

6 miles in shorts and short sleeve in Feb! I was feeling the Sunday run, still running well with tired legs. Will see about tomorrow's mile repeats......

Need to swim but not sure if happens.

Today: 1500 yds in the pool and trainer tonight...

Hello everyone again! As usual, I've been lazy about posting during my R&R time at home.

Yoshi - either you're in Japan and it's Wednesday already or you're jumping ahead by a day. It's still January here in the states.

We've had about three guys join our regular Tuesday and Thursday runs. All three of them are sub-3 hour marathoners. I'm finding myself pushed a lot harder during these runs. Love it!

Anyone know anything about Mizuno shoes? I won a certificate for a pair of Mizuno shoes at my half marathon on Saturday and I've never run in them. I'm currently rotating between my Asics Gel-Cumulus and Nike Pegasus shoes, so I'm pretty set with regular training shoes. Was looking at the Universe 4's as a lightweight trainer or racing flat, also could go with the trail shoes if the sponsoring store carries them.

Workout today was the usual Tuesday morning crew run from the health club. Tim and I quickly pulled away from Dave, Matt and Chris and did the run by ourselves. My schedule had me doing 6 x 30sec pickups on the 3 min intervals, but Tim wasn't slowing down much during the 'recovery' phase. He claims to be a 3:10 marathoner, to which I call 'bullsh*t'. He could easily go sub-3 with the right training (and maybe without the right training). 8.2 miles in 59 minutes.

Got a lower body massage during lunch. The purpose was to work on my achilles, but she spent plenty of time on my calves also. I'm pretty sure you could play a violin concerto on them. Good for me, but man it hurt.

Have a great week, tri-peeps!

I know that I love the Mizuno Wave Inspires, does that help? Probably not. My other primary shoe is the Brooks Adrenaline, if that helps.

Thor: yes, saw your add on post yesterday and appreciate it. I'll run it by the group and see if there are any preferences. Jo Jo and I did the Merrimac one you suggested for IMAZ training and loved it but I'm not 100% sure the larger group will and she is in SC for the next 6 weeks.

Mike: For some reason your postings make me chuckle every time. No help from me on the shoes though.

1 hour on trainer this a.m. for me with 30 minutes of it with coach try and the technique spinervals. I liked doing a spinervals. It was my first time using the dvd. Start with coaching again next week and boy am I ready for it. Still no swimming until February month end per PT person yesterday but I'm ok with that. Although I know I shouldn't I definitely neglect swimming during off season.

The lawyer in me had to pick this selection for the this day in history.

On this day in 1865, the U.S. House of Representatives passes the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, abolishing slavery in America. The amendment read, "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude...shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."

Mike - I wear Mizuro Rider, which is a cushion shoes I use for speed work, much lighter than my other training shoes, Asics Nimbus. No ideas about ligher performance shoes or trail. Let us know if you find a good trail shoes, I am looking for one.

Woops, it is still Jan. Nonethess, 51F!!! 51F!!! (actually, I am a bit concerned about implications of this crazy weather.....)

Daily run. Didn't sleep well last night for some unknown reason. Made for a long day and not huge motivation to run. Got it done though.

MIke: Based on the shoes you use you would go with a neutral shoe from Mizuno. The Wave Rider would be similar to the Nike Pegasus. If you go that route get the new model 15, not the 14 which was not well liked. The Wave Universe is a racing flat and super light. Probably good for up to about 10K. The Wave Enigma would be closer to the Asics Cumulus, a bit heavier than the Wave Rider. The Wave Precision and Wave Ronin and in between the Rider and Universe with the Ronin probably good for speed workouts and races up to HM.

The trail shoe is the Wave Ascend. It has mild stability, but usually works well for neutral people.

The Wave Inspire is a moderate stability shoe, more similar to an Asics 2170, Brooks Adrenaline, or Nike Structure. Not really well suited for a neutral person.

Boy, Mike, you asked the right guy on Mizunos. What a great thorough answer Don.

I like Mizunos and find they seem lighter and cooler than most other shoes I wear. (Asics, Nike.)

Long workshop day after a 13+hr day yesterday. Managed to get in some kettlebell work and some upper body stretching. I'm planning for an early wake-up so I can row before work, since I have DT work after work.

Happily, I'll be able to fuel that workout with coffee... I'm 1 hr 45 minutes from surviving my self-imposed penalty of January without coffee. I almost want to stay up and have my first cup tonight. :)

TASM...woo hoo! Coffee soon!!!

5.08 mile run tonight with several HR zn 4 pickups...3x1min downhill and 4x30sec uphill, randomly. Nothing specified for recovery, so I let my HR settle back into zn 2 before doing another interval.

FIB strength workout, shower, & dog walk.

Feels nice in a hard sort of way to have some intervals during the run again. Have spent so much time doing zn 2 and progressive tempo work.
