Yesterday was a really rough day for many of us. So I am keeping the happiness front and center!

Duckie - 18!?!?!? I just do not understand how that happens and my heart aches for the family.

Maureen - Cancer is a beast and it can just tear your heart out. I hope you can look towards a peaceful place in the days ahead.

Bard - Has there been any developments in your friend's mom?

I don't have anything really happy to report... just I am hopeful!

I'm afraid I don't have much that's fun today either, but I do have a small fun report: at dinner with santa last night, DS gave santa a high five. That's progress.

Speaking of happiness, my Aunt is currently in surgery at Mayo in Rochester. She has been ill most of her life with different ailments (including lupus) and the last year has been really hard. She is having a complex heart surgery, including replacing one of her valves with a valve from a pig heart. It is not a simple surgery and there is much room for complications, so if you have any extra vibes, please send some along.

Fun and happiness: starting to receive 30s Christmas cards - yay! And thanks. I need to get mine made today. Tried for over an hour and a half last night and it just.wasnt.working.

Hey, I work at Rochester Mayo - nothing medical, so I have no input there, but if your family needs anything, let me know!

((((Maureen)))) my heart is aching for you.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ vibes for Mama Moe and Kris's and Duck's friends~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's very windy and rainy here today. Not the least bit festive.
Just cleaned my wallet out. Am I the only one who saves rec'ts for a stupid amount of time? I can't seem to bring myself to toss them, just in case I need them to return something.
Time for some good news, no?
Thanks Goon! My cousins and aunts have a house rented up there for a month, so I think they are set. But I'll keep your offer in mind.
Ok question for you all.
My friend's son is autistic and some of the meds he takes has caused a bit of a weight gain. Well in his gym class the last 2 years they have made the kids run the mile and at first he could barely make one lap but by the end of the semester he could make the whole mile! So he said he wants to run a 5k. So after some discussion, he decided he wants to understand nutrition more and how it relates to fitness and health (such a smart kid). I told my friend to get him on a site like Daily Plate but was wondering if you all had any other suggestions. He is young so nothing too technical but he is very anlytical and I thought something like daily plate where he an track his food and see info immediately mightbe good. Any other suggestions?!
Better get something done in the next two years. After that, Halliday and Lee will all be 35+, and under long term contracts for several more years. Oswalt will be gone after next year, unless they give him a multi year 8 figure deal. Rollins, Utley, Howard, and Victorino are all in their 30s, and have had declining numbers the past few years. The Phillies will be formidible for the next year or two, but their is train wreck potential for years after that. You could end up with a roster of older over priced players.
Halladay is under contract for three more years (thru 2013), with an option for a 4th, I think. I don't know if that qualifies as "several more years". Sure, eventually, these guys will get old, just like every player. But the Phillies will have both of them for at least 3 more years, which should be about the final years of their primes before they turn downhill. Yeah, I don't think anybody can expect these two pitchers to lead the Phillies to the 2020 World Series title. But they look pretty good for 2011, 2012 or 2013...
I started a thread on Lee in the PRT early this morning and nobody has posted in it yet.
DD was on a med at one time that caused a pretty hefty weight gain too, she just complained about being fat and didn't want to DO anything about it. She said exercise hurt and she didn't want to give up eating the things she liked. So I think it's SO awesome that he is taking charge of things! Way to GO!!
Hey, everyone!
Tons and tons of hugs, vibes, love and prayers to Moe, Kris, Mindi, Duck's friends and family and friends of those struggling with health problems. Hopefully there will be several Christmas miracles.
Good luck on the interview, Kath!
I wanted to thank everyone who's sent a holiday card so far. I was secretly hoping that I would still be on the list despite a bad posting record because I so look forward to them, and have been so happy to receive them. If there's an updated list somewhere, can someone send me a PM so I can access it? Valentine's Day is right around the corner!
Life in MO is moving along. New meds seem to be working, though there are kinks to work out. Classes are over, and grading is done. I have to write a few more letters of recommendation and then I need to get back to full time research. I'm also trying to take it easy and rest a little. My string ensemble has one more holiday concert at a nursing home, and then we're done for the season, and there are two new babies in my universe with two more on the way (and that's just here in town).
I hope everyone gets good news today!
