Greetings, all.

I have 5M on tap this evening on the hamster wheel. zzzz.

RiL - Awww shucks.. thanks for the offer on sharing your Nuun tablets. :) Ironically, I ordered some yesterday afternoon. Hopefully the tangerine-ginger flavor is decent! :) Again, thank you very much for the offer!

Kath - I'll PM you my GR flight info! Wheee!

I should be out running, but I'm sitting here just thinking about it. HAHAHAHAHAHA.. I like heat, but this is nuts. Currently 97% humidity and feels like 91. At 6 AM. yayyyyyyyyy. **whimper***

So, we got 5k results and I'm happy with our places. My friend was 10, I was 11 out of 78 women (she was just a step ahead), first in my age group (no age group awards though) and placed 46 overall out of 176 finishers, so I'll take it. Even the winners were "slow" with times in the high 18's so I feel good about our effort.

I think I had a bit of heat trouble yesterday, though...I really didn't feel well. Cool and water were the only thing that helped.

Hey...Ail...I have some NUUN I'm not using, too..they don't work for me if you want 'em??? Or anyone???

Hugs to all...STAY COOL everybody. I think we should all meet at Duck's house--he could use the help and we could use the cool weather.

glad your friend found her bike, Brandy!! I find it hilarious that he didn't know how to use it. Not. too. bright.

Yeah, it is muggy out there. Only in the 70s here, but the humidity is in the 90+%. I ran just over 6.5 miles. I took it supah easy and actually felt great. I wanted to tag on a few more miles, but given that I have a track workout tonight in some pretty extreme weather, I decided to take it in and focus on rehydrating.

Ailarie - you are very welcome! Hope they work!

Morning all! Super nasty here too and yet I decided to lie in bed and not run this morning; I'll certainly pay for that later when it's even worse. Yay me! LOL

Ailarie - send me your GR travel info too, I'll try to coordinate

Lora - great job on the relay!!

wow - that WAS gross.

w/o was supposed to be 4 x 10 min at tempo pace. Well, since it was already boiling tropical out at 6 a.m. (like Melissa said over 90 heat index), that whole "tempo pace" thing wasn't going to happen. I ran them about 1 min slower and that was hard. Got in 8 miles but started to feel a little light headed during the cool down.

Yippee for 11th place Melissa and first in your age group!! woot woot!

Track workout was just cancelled due to the heat advisory. Now wishing I tagged on a couple extra miles this am. Oh well, at least my legs won't be toast tomorrow. And no doubt a smart call. I was worried about taking DS out to run hard in this keyrayzay weather tonight.

Ma Nature kicked my ass this morning. Managed 5.7 miles (goal was 6 with some hill sprints at the end) but I had to be back at the house by 8:30 a.m. and the conditions drained me. Should have known it was going to be bad when all the windows on the house had condensation on them. Checked the weather info when I got back: 79F, 88% humidity, and a dew point of a whopping 75F.

Nice work everyone...just getting any miles done on a day like today is an accomplishment.

GR folks (Maria/Ailaire): I'm planning on taking that Monday off of work to get y'all to the airport so unless you just have to/want to, no need to schedule super early flights.

Second day of marathon training called for 6 miles so I got up early and got 'em done. It was pretty good, although a bit muggy so the inner thighs got a bit of a chafe. Ouch. I never even thought to put the Bodyglide on them because we just haven't had the hot, humid weather around here.

Cranie - Oof.. those are rough conditions for so early. I'd have been tempted to bail and run on the TM! Oh - thank you for the offer of your Nuun stoofs. (1) Are you sure you won't use them later on? (2) Let me get my little tube that I ordered first, to see if I even like the things. (i could hate em!). If I do like them, and you truly are not going to use yours, like.. ever.... let's chat :)

Maria - Info sent!

KP - My flight out on Monday isn't until noon, but I had already told Tonya that if you guys need to drop me off at the airport stupidly early, I was quite okay with that. (not just okay, but genuinely thankful for you two opening your home and assisting with transportation needs, regardless of what time I get picked up / dropped off!.).

Hi all - wanted to give my shout outs to Melis & Lora on some fabulous racing this weekend!

Didn't really get a lot of fitness per se on my weekend visit to Ohio, but I did calculate that Kris and I got in 7 miles of walking on South Bass Island at Put-In-Bay on Saturday (we thought it was a lot of walking, but we didn't think it was THAT much.) Hopefully get to started back into a regular routine this week provided my body cooperates.

I just did 3.5 miles in the heat (95 degrees). But honestly, it didn't feel too terrible. What worries me more is that my right calf muscle was still a little sore. I hadn't run since the 5k race on Saturday. In the ensuing couple days, the calf hadn't bothered me at all. So I figured I was all better. But it felt tight as soon as I started running today. It eventually loosened up a bit, but I wouldn't call it 100% better. And I've got another 5k race tomorrow. Between the calf, the heat (90+ tomorrow) and the hills on this course, I'm pretty sure I won't be anywhere close to a PR. But it's the "Pizza Race", so hopefully I can at least be well fed.

are you rolling the calf muscle out? I've been having a bit of a calf strain too and that helps a lot.

The hills will KILL it though. Just an FYI

the only running i did today was after trains. short sprints. no biggie :)

i was vvveerry tempted to go for a shortie after work but am slowly working my way up to 4 days of running/week. i am not going to tempt the Knee to get angry.. and back to back days never help. so, x-training for me although i almost walked past the gym and out the door for a run. good missy. 7 miles on the stationary bike with heartrate in the 150s-170s so a good workout nonetheless.
