Yo - what the specialist makes sense - time for you to stay on the eating/drinking/supplement train! :) Oof about the glucose test - was it fasting or? I would def get tested again. My doc has been checking my A1C levels for the past several years...those don't have to be fasting and track levels for the past (3) months I guess? Normal is 5.7 or lower and I hover between 5.5 and 6, mostly around 5.7-5.9, which puts me at pre-diabetic. My dad was a diabetic, so we are keeping an eye on things. on the cold front? Ginger tea works wonders for me. Good luck!

Hi gang! at the condo all weekend (including yesterday) hunkering down against the cold on Saturday and then getting skiing in Sun-Mon...conditions were rather decent for a change. :)

Out on the roads today - got just over 2 miles done by running down to the local garage to pick up my car. FIB 20 min strength workout. Elbow PT later tonight...

Geo - we booked our flights for Glasgow and did pretty decent on price with British Airways...killed me to have to pay for our seats but I didn't want to wait until 24 hours prior to departure only to have us with center seats and scattered over the plane. But even doing that, it was still not too bad.

Nice on the flights. Because we booked separate flights (to have the one checked-in bag), we'll be scattered over the plane. But that's okay - because I think DW and I can live without each other for those seven hours :)

It's a funny contrast - generalizing between men and women - I have no idea what any of my vital stats are ... as I studiously avoid going to the doctor as much as possible. Probably a lesson to be learned here - although I suspect you guys's DH's are pretty similar.

Got up for a 6 AM zwift of 22 miles or so ... moderate+ intensity. The hard part is when you drop off the network and you find yourself riding alone for a stretch - and then everyone pops back on when the network reconnects and you're several hundred yards behind the pack....

Sounds exciting for you to head out to UK!! And price sound reasonable. Mine, ugh, I decided to drive Flint (yeah, THAT Flint) which is only an hour drive to save $300+. Using the points, tho, that we have been collecting over the years :). DS and his GF have been talking about going to Japan and Korea when I go next time... so here it is the TIME. He said me just being there at the same time kinda gives him a comfort in case he needs some help. I have no doubt he would be ok. So they are taking 10-day trip to Japan and Korea.

Re medical stuff, Zoj, thank you for your vote of confidence. Yes I fasted. About 10 hrs. The pre-test # was 99 and after the solution/2hrs, 141. Talked to the Dr.'s office, she was puzzled as my last Nov # was well within normal. Not sure, having a cold, or had a glass of beer about 10hrs before the blood test has anything to do with it. My mother was diabetic but weight loss/diet improvement took her out of the diagnostics. I have heard of the 3-month average test thing. I will ask my Dr next week when I see her. And what kind of restrictions/moderation of certain diets are you following? And Geo, funny comments about men... my man is relatively good. He does go to an annual check up (Scouts camping registration requires the updated health form every year, hahaha) and blood work, and compares his numbers to the previous years'. He may even an excel sheet for that, lol.

Speaking of UK, I have a GF (college class mate from Japan) who is married to a guy from UK and live there. The timing of my visiting Japan was totally narrowed down to what it is due to her visit to Japan. Really hoping to see my college friends some of whom I have been keeping in touch via emails/holiday cards/every time I visit Japan. My mother is having her back surgery (spinal stenosis) in a few weeks.... I hope all go well and she will be on recovery/rehab by my visit.

Workout - In an effort to get rid of this cold by Thursday (for my winter trip), FIRST TIME EVER I decided not to workout to kick out of the cold. Normally, with this level of cold, I do workout. But I never figure out whether or not that helps or hinder a recovery. So this is new to me, 1.5days of nothing. Not even walk today.

Well the computer seems to have eaten my post..I'll try again.

I felt terrible on the day after the xc ski race the 29th I think but didn't think much of it. Did a workout on monday. Woke Monday night feeling very very sore. During the next day (big work review online) I realized I had a fever. After an interlude of bad covid tests and so forth I discovered SO and I both had Covid. We've been slowly recovering and I've done 2 very short workouts and some short walks. The weather was super cold for the first part of this and then has been snowing on and off wiht at last a nice sunny day today.

Yo-I have committed to go to Japan this year but haven't' worked out when. Another friend plans to go March/April. I have yet to manage my East Coast trip and our highways keep filling up with snow (and I-80 is perpetually closed)
