1847: After spending the winter under harsh conditions that drove them to cannibalism in order to survive, members of the Donner Party are rescued.

45 min high cadence spin this morning 10 min warmup, 25 min @ 97-100 cadence, 10 min cooldown. Came out to 15.66 miles. Followed this with a circuit of 4 sets of pullups, pushups, and core...only rest long enough to change positions.

Great workouts to all!

Approx 14km running, medium pace for me today. My Garmin hanged while locating the satellites and refused to turn off. So not sure about the exact pace and distance. Tomorrow I'm planning for a long swim on the 50m local pool and 45 minute intervalls on treadmill. Saturday is my Oly race.

Considering it's back to sub-zero's for us, I tried dreamill but kids got up early so workoutus-interuptus. For no good reason they were annoying the carp out of me (Parents get this... non-parents, trust me it happens). So I got my priorities straight and bagged the workout. Will do it tonight.

Good morning all.

2100 meters in the pool this morning. continuing to work on technique and breathing. I can definately see a difference. Maybe not in the speed, but the ease of completing the same distance is way easier now. Speed will come I just don't want to rush it. I am less than a month away from my Triathlon now. I am getting excited.

Ronbo--oh, trust me, I get it!!! I was especially cranky yesterday. Went to dip into my chocolate stash, only to find that my youngest had raided it and left me with NOTHING! Justafiable homicide???

Fishbowl for me this morning. Wasn't sure if it was gonna happen or not. Shoulder was still pretty stiff from Sunday's fall. Got in there and just did a steady. Felt pretty good, although I certainly wasn't puttin any umph behind it. 50mins

Then for a run. 15* and 20mph winds, with a light coating of ice/snow. No, I don't learn. I seem to have lost my speed. 4.55m, 41:25, 9:07pace

2500 yards in the shark bowl last night. I asked SwimPlan for a "More Challenging" workout and got it.

Warm-up: 4 x 100 easy
Build-up: 6 x 25 1-arm, 25 kicking
Main set: 4 x 100, leave on 1:55
4 x 100, leave on 1:50
6 x 50, leave on :56
Cool-down: 2 x 100 easy

(the yardage doesn't add up because my pool is actually 32 yards, so I have to convert the 100's to 128's and the 50's to 64's - a real PIA, but I built me a spreadsheet to do it for me).

Took me forever to fall asleep last night. Then this morning, as I was doing my PT and stretching, one of my sinuses drained about a teaspoon of pool water like a faucet. I hate that.

Tonight I'm hoping to do some weights and easy spinning, we'll see.

Make sure your friends have good taste, Peeps!!

How did you manage to find a 32 yd pool?
Are you sure it's not 25 meters?

Well, I've never taken a tape measure to it, but...the plaque on the wall says "1 length = 32 yards." If you run the numbers, it kinda makes sense. 28 full laps comes out to almost exactly a mile. A real mile, not a swimmer's mile.

The outdoor pool (open May to October) is 27 yards. Again, 32 full laps comes out very close to an actual mile.

Can you tell what kind of people my gym caters to?

I think the people who dug the whole for your gym's pool were drinking on that that day! lol

I've never heard of a pool with that kind of funky yardage.

Even my dad's pool where he used to work (built pre-1920) had 20 yds (an actual ROUND even number) as opposed to 25.

If the Flu bus ran over me yesterday, last night it backed up and did it again. High fever, cold spells, throbbing headache, endless coughing... quite miserable to be honest. Haven't been this knocked out in a very long time. My time was due. Feeling a bit better than yesterday.

2 mile ceremonial keep-the-streak-alive run. Amazingly, leg strength is there, but everything else hurts or is tired or weak. Was actually enjoyable to get outside in the sun.
