Greetings, Bob!

I need to get 4.7M tonight on the TM to get to 100 for the month. (A number I haven't seen since September). My legs feel like jello, but hopefully I can plod along and get that magic number :)

Morning

6 miles in 40 degrees last night in shorts. WAAAAY too fast. First lap was too fast because I was trying to get back before 530 and meeting others. Next lap - for no reason. We just were going too fast. It felt fine though so there's that.

Dome tonight..even though it is nice. Sigh

Morning bOb, Ailarie, and all who follow.

I missed Tonya's news too. Hope is is good stuff.

I ran a little over 6 this morning. It was almost 40 degrees and an amazing sunrise. But I was dragging a bit since I did not get home late due to a board meeting. I have a fun luncheon today and then am going to do the kid shuffle and work on the band web site. All in all, doesn't sound like a bad day.

Oh, I did those planks Goon posted on Facebook Sunday night. I am still feeling it in my triceps and my core. Good stuff.

Hi all. I think I've maybe been overdoing my workouts. I'm really drained in addition to being sore. I took it easy yesterday and just did yoga. I've been putting in about 2 hours a day so maybe it's just too much too soon. Perhaps I'll get a massage.

Tonya- keep us posted. I stepped up my job search this week and have a networking event this morning to attend, plus 3 phone screens with recruiters so that's something. It probably helps that DH is away for a few days so there's less tension in the house.

Morning peeps.

I really have nothing to report today. Watched lots of Antiques Roadshow last night, played Wordscraper and went to bed early. (Also, where can I find a $400 painting that's actually worth $50,000? Cuz that would be awesome.)

Nice workouts, folks. I get Penny back on the weekend, and will have her for close to a month, due to some scheduling stuff with DexH, so I suspect I'll be running a whole lot more than I am right now.

Best of luck to you, KJ. Sorry for all your troubles right now. :(

I never sent ~~~~~ to Tonya~~~~~ hope it's something good.

Yoga followed by Thai food and the movie One for the Money last night. Way too late of a night for me, so I didn't work out this morning. I have a bag packed to try to get to the gym tonight.

Dh and dd might go to the nfl experience tonight.

Morning, all. I'm a little rushed this morning because I went to Mass and then when I got to the gym, I realized that I had too much to do and couldn't fit it all in AND take a shower AND get myself to the office in enough time to eat and get to class. However, I guess I had an extra 15 minutes which would have been about all I needed. Oh, well. My homework hurt, so I was happy to cut it short, though I'll have to fess up to that tomorrow during my training session.

My best bud and I are doing a weight loss challenge, and I was down 1.2 for the first week. If I pay better attention to my eating, I can wup that number good. Probably not going to happen this week.

I need a nap already.

~~~~((((kj))))~~~~ Good luck on the job front and on the home front. I'm pulling for you.
I've been wondering if Tonya was up for her tenure review. I can't remember if she already has tenure at her university, but I'm thinking not yet. Regardless, I made sure to send all the positive energy I could up north.
(((KJ))) Good luck with the job hunting and the marriage stuff.
How are everyone's parents' and pets' and personal health issues?
I am sitting here wondering how I functioned for over a year and a half while being chronically short of sleep. I'm getting dozy at 10:30-11pm every night these days and head to bed, and I used to regularly stay up until 1am chatting with Moonie. I guess once you get into the habit it isn't so bad. I still am slow getting up in the morning (never was much of a morning person), but I can tell I'm a lot more rested these days.
Hi all!
Was sick all weekend, but got all drugged up so we could have a family outing to the Adventure Aquarium in Camden. Really cool place. A great friend of ours and her daughter (who I think is 6 y.o.) joined us. Her daughter was stuck to the side of DD in no time, and DD could not have been better with her - patient and attentive and just wonderful. Theia and I must have mentioned it to each other (and to DD) 5 or 6 times... So proud of what a great human being she has become.
The aquarium itself was really cool. There was a 14 foot alligator and a shark tunnel to walk through, where you end up so close to some amazing animals. I had a blast. Oh, and the kids liked it too.
Had to take DD to the airport yesterday. She was here for over 5 weeks, so saying goodbye was incredibly difficult. Scooby misses her too. He had shadowed her for 5 weeks. Well, stalked may be a better word for it. We repeatedly caught him sitting or laying outside DD's bedroom door, just staring at the door and waiting for DD to emerge... Theia came home from work yesterday, and let the dogs out... When they came back in, Scooby ran right to DD's bedroom to look for her.
Well, I took yesterday off to take DD to the airport and to go to the doc, so I need to get to work.
I'll check back in later.
I know! Weird, right? I used to go to bed at 11 or 12, wake up at 3 a.m. every morning to call Theia when she got up, and then I may or may not go back to sleep until it was time to get moving for work. Now -- I have a helluva time waking up to get to the gym. I did make it this morning, but it was frustratingly difficult to get my ass moving.
Morning all! We're getting that warmer weather the Midwest had 1.5 days ago (just like J's mom always reminds us will happen ... she's a weather freak!) so I'm planning on a shorts-clad run commute home. Wheee!
GoV - how cute... both all of your great time with DD and Scooby's love
Ailarie - great job, way to make it happen!
Even though I might get one more workout in, I wanted to check in on the January goals I posted
Here's the post with the actuals following in blue
1200 net calories/day 80% of the days (that equals 6 "cheat" days)
7 days over (but one day was only 35 calories over, so I'm A-OK with that)
go to the gym 20 days in January, so I can get my name on the list of "super members"
only made it 15 times - I'll be on the "active members" instead of the "super members" list. Hoping to get #16 in today.
follow a running plan from SmartCoach on Runner's World
All runs completed within one day of schedule, except I still owe myself three miles for yesterday.
Work in 30 day shred on the off days.
5 times
Also added a Monday night Yoga class.
As of yesterday morning, down 8 pounds in January.
I have an information meeting Thursday night about the half marathon training plan at the LRS. I'm going to just keep January type goals in mind this week and solidify a plan for February after I get the schedule from them. I know it starts Feb 12th.
Parents are same old.
I think Oskar grew again over night. He only half fits under the stool now, and only from one direction. Obedience class starts up again this Saturday. Last night I was looking into how we could make some agility equipment for him. He needs more stuff to think about.
My right eye is better, but this morning my left eye is all bloodshot. WTF?!? Back hurts today, which is probably from loading the kiln yesterday.
Good Morning!
(((((KJ))))) - been thinking about you!
Crazy busy with work and kids. Hockey and figure skating are in full swing. We are getting into hockey presectional/sectional competition time (DS's team just won their 3rd tournament of the season!) and DD has decided to do her first skating competition (one solo and one team routine) and has the ice show shortly after that. The way I figure it, I might get a break toward the end of March.
I am firmly on the eating well/fitnessing bandwagon and I have the results to prove it! My skinny jeans fit right out of the dryer on Saturday - WOOT! Both DH and I are following the 7 day carb cycle plan by Chris Powell. I highly recommend it if you are looking for some assistance. It's definitely geared toward those who have a lot to lose, but it's a plan that's easy to follow and makes sense.
I too am eager to hear the good news re:Tonya!
Daffodils? That is crazy. But I must admit it felt and sounded spring-like this morning. We still have tons of birds chirping away, etc. Weird.
Amy - you rock! That is awesome!
goV - must have been really hard to let DD go. Glad you had such a great visit.
re sleep - I have actually been thinking about how rested I feel this training season. Lower mileage/faster paces has meant more time for sleep and less overall fatigue. I am usually much more tired in general at this point of training (10 weeks in). I have to imagine this is a good thing.
Edited to add: Yay Shannon! That is great news. I have been eating a lot better too, but have only dropped a pound or so. I am hoping the trend continues. You gals are definitely motivating!!
great stuff this morning gang...Shannon, Amy great news on the weight loss. I'd love to see the scale move down myself!
good to know that you've helped raise a good person GoV, must feel great!
ran 30 consecutive minutes on the treadmill this morning. Not very fast, only covered 2.5 miles but still pleased.
As for her news, I'll let Tonya share it - some really great stuff, some that makes you scratch your head in amazement.
First off Thank You for all the thoughts yesterday and today.
Yes, yesterday was my tenure and promotion decisions. I was voted unanimously up for tenure... yeah! However, the meeting devolved a bit on the promotion issue and I was voted down. But, this is just the first level of decision making, so I feel pretty good that it won't stay that way.
I was a bit upset yesterday, but I am feeling stronger today. Bring it on!
Amy and Shannon - big congrats on the weight loss!
