Morning!

Today I give up my monthly parking pass (which I spend a whopping $140 each month for) and begin walking over a mile each way to work.

Yay for the permanent daily workout, yay for the financial savings, BOO for the having to leave for work earlier and not having my convenient spot.

sigh.

This being fiscally responsible stuff sucks sometimes, even when it's good for me in a myriad of ways.

Perhaps I should weigh myself this morning and track where I end up as the weeks go by. Hmmmm......

Good morning, Ann. Wow, I would love to be able to give up driving to work. But it's an 18-mile trip for me each way, so I think that's a little too far to walk...

I did run 6.7 miles last night, though, after work. Everything went well. I'll try to get out for a few more miles tonight...

Okay, I hate to bring this up again... But have we made any decisions about a Spring meet-up? Anybody still interested in Kansas? What about Ragnar New England? I have both of these firmly in the "maybe" pile, if anyone else is willing to do them. (Hell, I might still go to Kansas alone even if no one else goes. But I don't think I'll be doing Ragnar by myself).

Good for you, Ann!

Bob, I may be in for Olathe. I need to figure out a plan soon.

I did my GOTR practice 5K last night. It was amazing and awesome and terrific.

Up tonight, another GOTR 5K (my friend's group). I am running with 2 girls who apparently run a 7:20 pace. Woo - yup, it will be a workout.

Fun: finishing pic from the half Saturday.

I'm still interested in a spring meet-up. Now that I'm forced into fitness daily I might be able to get myself back into a running routine.

And I still have to drive downtown, boB, but I just won't have my cushy 1.5 block-away covered parking spot any more.

Off to work... later taters!

Morning Gang -

Thanks for the well wishes yesterday. Still dealing with insurance company. DD told me I'm gonna have bad karma now for killing a deer. Hmmm. It's not like I tried to!

Nice finish photo Mindi! Have fun with the speedy girls tonight! Good way for a forced tempo-ish run.

Yeah for Ann being back on the fitness wagon with forced walking! What do you do if it's bad weather?

Maria - how you feeling for this weekend? Don't forget clocks get set back Saturday night!

I ran 7 miles today with 2x2 miles wedged in the middle. Goal was sub 7:45, just eeked by with 7:44 for first set and 7:42 for second set. Felt challenging, but not impossible.

Good runs to all today!

Morning all! Got out to run 7.85 mi with my Tuesday running buddy. It was 37* and capri/long sleeve weather - yippee!!!

Mindi - what a great finishing line shot!!! I love your top, is it from Athleta? Looks like their stuff.

Ann - that's awesome! I love some fresh air in the morning.
Thanks for asking, feeling pretty good - very laid back about this one. Going to run it pretty conservatively and pick it up after the Queensboro bridge if things are feeling good. And that extra hour of sleep will be so sweet! Nice job on your run this morning!

boB - not ready to pull the trigger on full-on spring racing plans just yet. Although I'll likely run the HM at Surf City in Feb and am open to anything in the Midwest, plus if the KS race happens I can show you all around my old stomping grounds!

Morning!

I did my usual Powerflex class last night. They moved the time 1/2 hour earlier... which I love, but not everyone knew. A bunch of people showed up half way through and joined in.

Today is a run. I am hoping to get 3 miles... CRAZY, I know.

What Maria said - Not ready to commit but I know I can't do the Kansas thing.

morning

up earlyish to get in my workout for the day. it was supposed to be a 2-3-4-4-3-2 (min) ladder workout at GRP with 6 x 1 min at the end. Early morning running does not agree with my legs/lungs so the GRP was WAAAAYYY off. oh well. Got in a little over 6 and then went to vote.

speaking of the deer issue, DH was in a race a few years ago where a runner was hit by a deer. Both parties were ok after a few moments of stunnage.

#10 ·

Bob - I'm interested in Kansas. Not confirmed, but certainly interested!

Lovely pic, RIL!

I'll get some yet-to-be-determined miles on the hamster wheel tonight. Quads/IT's are still a bit uncomfy after the HM on Sat, but I think it's safe to get moving again. After some emails back and forth with Theia (thank you daaahling!), I've decided to bite the bullet and start actually training with some speedwork here and there. I'm not particularly looking forward to it, but if that process in turn makes me a stronger runner for half marathons, so be it.

howdy peeps.

I ran about 1.5 last night with Penny. Nothing remarkable about it, exc that I actually went. My neighbors and I were going to start a little daily (ish) running where we'd go just 15 mins, starting together and ending up at home, but they can't do it (shhhh...she's pregnant) but I decided to do it on my own.

#12 ·

oh and I'm interested in Kansas, but I don't know about the timing. I have a show in March, and I might be going to Iceland with a friend in Feb, so I'm not sure.

Hola. Yah, I'm with Crane in the Depressed Department. Getting better I think though. Just realllllly slow improvement. I don't know what the dealio is. I'm rarely this down in the dumps and certainly not for such an extended period of time.

So, I haven't been posting much but still lurking and keeping tabs on everyone.

It would help if I'd get out and run more, but I've been so blah lately that I just don't have the mojo. I had a goal of 1000 miles this year and I just gave it up, didn't care any more.

Co-worker and I went and weighed in the other day and she was MUCH dismayed by the number on the scale so we decided to commit to working out. It'll help her weight and my outlook. I was actually really surprised that I hadn't gained a gob of weigh. no running + eating like every day is my last should = massive weight gain.

I am running for 30 minutes on the gym treadmill today over my lunch hour. And tomorrow I plan to hit a spinning class after work, just trying to shake things up and try new things and see if that helps.

Happy running to you all.

#15 ·

ooof - forgot to mention, my legs are feeling it after 3 races in a row. I fully expect my legs to be toast tomorrow after tonight's 5K. I think I have earned a rest day.

Great pic!!!

Core work and 4 miles by myself & then a fast 1.5 with Gus. It was 27°, so he was in heaven.

Spring Races - I can't commit to anything till I find a stupid job.

Dude, I've had SAD bad this year. Really bad. Working in an interior office isn't helping.one.bit. Plus, the stupid time change comes so late now, I'm already exhausted and it's only going to get worse.

I keep describing it as feeling very alone. I'm not clinically depressed (I know this...because I've gotten checked out) but I AM down. Every time I leave my sis' house, I nearly cry, just because it's so nice to be around people who love me (eg, the neiphews are awesome for making me feel good.)

Hi all - nothing for me yesterday. Kinda' taking it easy while I'm up here in Seattle, though I may do some informal light strengthening in the fitness room at my hotel this week.

(((((To all you SAD folks))))) I kinda' am feeling it too - bummer is they're having the last throes of an Indian Summer there in SF, the Giants have won the World Series, and here I am in the rainy-ass Pacific NW...ahh, well

BTW, I dug these muddy pics out from the Brightroom website - I hope these links work

No runs for the past week, not much activity at all actually. Hmm, gotta change that.

SAD- I am starting to wonder if my current maintenance dose of Vit D will be enough to stave off the SAD completely this year. I've been noticing a few things that make me wonder if my levels are dropping a bit with the reduced daylight hours, but it's hard to know if it is that or the moderate sleep deprivation from the past 7 months catching up to me.

Moon- Love those photos!

Sweet pics, moon! Rawr!

Well, today was my last visit with the PT. I'm on my own now! I will continue to work slowly and carefully in my return to running, but I'm so anxious! The weather has been PERFECT running weather -- I'm dying to go out for a really long run!!!
