Good morning, ladies.

As I announced yesterday, my 20k race was meh. I was just happy to finish. But the most fun was seeing the kiddo run the 1/2 mile kids' run. It was the farthest she's ever run, and she made it thru like a champ. She also slept all the way home.

Oh, I just barely missed coming in the top 3 in the Clydesdale category. I know we've discussed whether these categories should exist or not, but I figured if I qualified for it, I might as well go for it. Then again, I've always been right on the borderline of Clydesdale. In fact, depending on when you weigh me (before or after a meal; before or after a run, etc) I might cross back and forth over the line. I wonder if I had won an award if they would've put me on a scale to verify my weight. After such a humid sweaty run like that yesterday, I'm sure I was under the qualifying weight afterwards...

And by the way... Warm and Humid + Racing 20k = Nasty Chaffing issues. Today is a little uncomfortable...

I sure as heck hope the weather is more bearable in Utah in a week and a half...

I might do an easy recovery run tonight if I feel like it...

Morning!

I am super tired today. 11 hrs of driving really wipes a girl out.

My race yesterday went just pure awesomely. The weather was perfect at 58 or so, sunny with a slight barely noticable breeze. My original idea was to start out at 815 through the first section of traffic and then work my way down. Then I wanted to keep consistent through the turn around (it is an out and back) and then start to hammer a bit while keeping myself from redlining.

It was a PR by over 4 minutes (i had my finish at 48:35, official at 48:40 because they do the tear tag type of record keeping) and puts my marathon equivalent at 3:48!!

Mile 1 - 8:00

Mile 2 - 7:59

Mile 3: 7:59

Mile 4: 7:42

Mile 5: 7:40

Mile 6: 7:34

Last lil' bit: 1:44 (7:15 pace)

Overall pace 7:51 (which is 1 second slower per mile than the 5K PR I set earlier this year). I am just sooooo stoked!

Followed that by some light house work, an attempt at a nap and then weights. Youch.

Then I weeded the lawn and mowed.

I'm tired.

(edited to add the times up because it is too early to make people do math...me included)

Morning peeps!

HOLY MOLEY Brandy! Congrats!

I haven't got much to report. Walked Miss Penny with my sis, her kids and their dog yesterday. Maddy, my niece stuck with me for the whole walk, she loooooooves Penny. :)

I slept badly again last night, woke up every hour from 1am on, and then when my alarm was going off, I kept dreaming I'd reset it, or actually did attempt to reset it, but kept pressing the button on the side of my phone, not the touch pad. Suffice to say, I'm dragging today. I've been trying to get to bed earlier and spending more time at home, but I'm still sorta worn out all.the.time. Sigh.

Nice races and runs this weekend, folks.

Way to go, Brandy! If I'm reading it correctly, you did a 48:35 10K? So jealous. :) I've missed so much the past week or so, and I know I also need to offer you my love and support for your mom. Keep the faith, my friend. (((Brandy)))

Happy belated bday, Prae!

Bob, sorry the New Haven race wasn't what you wanted. Sounds like a tough day, but that's awesome that Jillian enjoyed her longest run to date. :)

Very cute pic, Clare! And cute horse pics from Ailarie. Oof, I know I'm missing stuff. I'm sorry!

Thank you all SO MUCH for the good wishes this weekend. We had a perfect day (except for the fact that my dad couldn't be there). It was really wonderful to share the day with our closest family and two friends that I've known so long they introduce me as their sister and vice versa. There are a handful of pics on Facebook, but I will try to get more processed today or tomorrow.

Oh, and Dad checked himself out of the hospital yesterday and insisted on going home, not back to assisted living/rehab. Sigh.

Oh yeah, running and stuff. Ummm, not much to report. Between final wedding prep, Dad's hospitalization, GoV's car accident, and out-of-town guests, I didn't have much free time the past few weeks. And tonight I have a meeting for work, so not much will get done later today either. Hmph.

Morning all!

boB - sorry the race was a downer. I was all set to go for a 7 miler yesterday AM, and ended up walking for 1.5 hours instead. Just did not feel up to running in the soup.

(((Mindi)) - sorry for some of the health issues of your friends and family.

Theia (and Dave) congrats once again. Now change your current ugly avatar to one of the wedding photos with your pretty beaming smile!

Brandy - you are having all sorts of breakthroughs!

As noted above, no run this weekend. I did spend about 6 hours Saturday and Monday doing yardwork. FInally have everything cleaned up from Irene. Got in 4 sleasy this AM. It was raining buckets.

Nice job, Brandy!

It was cool enough to wear my jacket to work this morning, and I also had to turn on the dashboard lights. *sigh* Fall really is around the corner, isn't it? I'm liking the cooler temps, especially since I do want to try to get back to running, but the reduced daylight hours are becoming noticeable. I guess its time to stock up on my Vitamin D. I took a hiatus through most of the summer, since I seemed to be doing ok, but I'm getting back on my daily maintenance dose now before any problems start surfacing.

Since Kath mentioned she could not see FB photos, I will put up 2 from the album I placed there. This is from Tuesday, our last morning at the lakehouse and our side trip to Warren Dunes State Park. The first is one taken by my friend on my camera, so not a self-portrait for once. That is a tiny lake called Pleasant Lake behind us. The second is Moonie skipping stones into Lake Michigan.

Theia - I am glad your dad is out of the hospital. Also, I hope you and goV are still glowing from your weekend. Can't wait to see more pics.

Maureen - that stinks - I hope your sleep improves!

I got out for 6 slow recovery miles. The cool weather was really awesome. I am hoping for the exact weather I ran in this morning for Chicago (and Twin Cities, Des Moines and Grand Rapids).

RiL, thanks. I've never had problems sleeping until the last few months. It's really getting to me. Last night, I kept waking up worrying about work, about my father, sad, I was too hot, then too cold, etc...and I'm starting to feel that dread that you get when you really don't want to go to a job. Ugh.

Today will be my first day back in the office after the hand foot mouth disease fiasco. At least it's a 4 day week and then I go on vacation (Maui..sans kids). I need a break. My job has been incredibly stressful the last 3 months and like Moe, I dread going in these days. I would look for something new but there's a chance we might have to move in the next year so probably no point. DH is looking for something new, and at his level, unfortunately sometimes you go where the jobs are. I love SoCal but given the chance I'm sure he'd love to go back to Boston. Who knows where life will take us.

Bard and Moonie- love the pics. Dave and Alexis- congrats! Very happy for you guys.

Way to knock it out of the park Brandy!!!

Mini-race report: Tupelo Half marathon thoughts - starting a race at 5:00am is kinda tough. Wade's alarm went off at 3:00am. Yikes! But, I managed to be awake and warmed up when the gun went off at 5:03am. The weather was teh suck! 80 degrees and humid with swirling wind and spiting rain. Oh, and at 5:00am it's DARK!!! Like can't see in front of you face dark. And, these are country roads, with lots of road kill. Anyway, I got out of the gate quick enough with a couple of my team mates. We did 7:35 for the first mile and managed to keep all of the miles under 8 mpm pace except for mile 4 when I stopped to pee on a tree. In the dark, no one could see us. We ran the first 8 or so miles at sub 8 pace, then me and Erica decided to back off and cruise at 8 mpm pace for the next 4 or so miles and then see what we had for the finish. I finished marginally strong and caught up to Erica so we could finish together. I finished 17th OA, 15th Male, 5th in AG with a 1:52:10 = 7:53ish pace. Erica finished 18th OA and 3rd Female.

Howdy all - wow, some sweet racing results from this weekend - congrats to you Brandy (that's pretty darn fassst!), boB (sorry it was a bit of meh race, but it sounds like you did just fine considering the weather), Tim (17th OA is pretty smokin!)

Again, much love and happy thoughts to Theia & GoV, and hurrah for Grayson (good to see you back and posting KJ!)

Gonna' try to get some running in today - don't want to lose the momentum I picked up over my vacay. Also, yesterday was my fantasy football draft and, as typical, that's a notorious stuff your gills full eating kind of day. Lots of fried goodies, BBQ'd meats, hot wings, home brewed beers (a pretty tasty Racer 5 knockoff) and even some sweets this time around - oof!

Good days to you all!

Hey, everyone! I actually have fitness to report. I went for a 3.3 mile walk this morning and it felt glorious. I even clocked in at 3.92 mph, which is pretty speedy. The weather on Saturday was so miserable, and now it's chilly in the mornings. I was cold for the first hour of my volunteering at the finish line of the marathon yesterday, and I almost regretted not grabbing a fleece this morning, but I figure I'll be warm enough when I have to walk to class later in the afternoon. I also get my results from the study I participated in this summer. Some of my test results seemed kinda lame, so I'm looking forward to having everything put in perspective for me and see how well (or not) I did.

Awesome races, Brandy, Tim and Jillian!

Sorry yours wasn't what you wanted, boB.

Still smiling for Theia & GoV and Bard and Moonie!

((((RIL)))) Sorry for bad health-related news this weekend.

((((Moe)))) I hope you get some good sleep this evening.

Sorry if I forgot folks, but my brain is going in 100 different directions.

This is really cool!

One of the art pieces I've worked on lately with a couple of friends, a series of photos that have been displayed at UForge, is featured in Stuff Boston this issue: http://stuffboston.com/get/archive/2011/09/05/clashing-looks.aspx

I got a ton of credit for the work which is so cool, and the author noted a couple of particulars about the costume that made me happy: the tights and the shoes which I brought from home. :)

This is the photo for the story (and my favorite one of the series, I set up this shot which was the last of the whole shoot.)
