Morning peeps...

Rise and shine! Up since 2. Since then serenaded by the pouring rain. Can't wait to go run in it but perhaps not yet. A nap (I hope) and then a sloshing I will go.

Happy roads and trails to ya'll.

Up since 2? By choice?

I got up at 5:15 and did a p90x workout (chest and back). Going to do a short run later this morning.

Have a good day.

I was up at 1:30 with DD. 5am alarm was tough. Anyway, ran to the gym to meet running buddies for a tempo run. Saw two foxes on the way. Not sure what happened but I set off at 6:40mpm pace but they hung back running 7s. Midway through the 3rd miles my hip tightened up coming out of an underpass. I slowed and waited for them at the turnaround. They then proceeded to up their pace and drop me at the end when I was gassed... payback. Anyway, it was a disaster with the following splits: 6:42, 6:35, 6:51, 6:32, 6:51. Ended with exactly 11 miles but 77F and 77% humidity was not nice.

Dan - bummer. Hope you can get some rest today

Jebba - you'll be ripping up phone books soon.

Wow early morning risers today!

Dan hope you get that nap in.

Jebba nice job on the workout.

Asics nice job on the tempo run after a rough night.

I did 10 miles on the canal path this morning. Felt some twinges in my hip -- will have to keep an eye on that -- but other than that, was a nice run...

Dan- Don't worry, I was up at 2 also. Hope you don't get too wet today

Jebba- Good luck on the short run later

RA- What is your goal Marathon pace? Sounds like the same temps we've been getting here, only we're about 80% humidity when I run

Loopy- Hope the hips ok

I am sitting around waiting on some jack-leg insulation people to come and insulate our future bedroom upstairs before I can head out for my run.

Not sure on my run yet.... I will prolly throw some kind of speed in there, but nothing heroic.

Good morning!

loopy, def keep an eye on that. You sure got up there quick with the mileage. Might be good to hit the towpath a couple more times.

Try to stay awake today, vash, okay?

You too, RA.

I accidentally ran 11.3 miles this morning. I thought that the loop I planned to run was a 9 miler. Oops.

Dan--oy! That's an early rise!

jebba--enjoy your run later. Hopefully inside?

Asics--that's what you get for dropping them!

loopy--nicely done. Must be pretty out there.

BBS--enjoy the run later.

I'll join the not sleeping/early rise group. It was too stinking hot to sleep. Rough time getting up this morning, but dragged my carcass out for an early morning slog. I rode my easy ride way too hard yesterday and certainly paid for it today! Legs were trashed. Oh well. 8 on the schedule, 8.6 is what I did. Run felt good, just slow. What was neat was I ran into a woman who really helped me when I started running--ie where to get "real" running shoes, walk/run program. Stopped home long enough to pick up a recovery drink and the hound and did a 2.5m CD walk.

The saga of my uber sexy van continues... I called the shop yesterday morning to tell them that something seized up so I was having her towed in. I figured tow truck would drop her off, they'd push her onto the lift. No......... The mechanic told me that they had a heck of a time with her as she kept stalling when they tried to start her. Why the heck did they even try to start her when I told them that something seized up?! Anyway, it was the syncronizer gear, or something like that. They showed me the metal chips, which I guess is not a good thing???

Good morning everyone. Nice job on all the great running this morning. I did a nice easy 5 miles in 44:06(8:49). I am enjoying taking it easy for the rest of the week. Have a great morning everyone.

BBS - Hope the speed work goes well for you. My marathon goal is a 3:05, which is ~7:05 mpm pace. That'll be tough given how my body is (not) holding up. Anything better than my time last year (3:09) would be good.

4boysmom - No AC? So, are those the same guys that told you it was 15 miles away? Hope you get your A-Team van back soon, with teeth on your gears. Note that I was running tempo pace... they weren't. So, it's their fault :)

Loopy - Nice 10. Stretch out those hip flexors. You're my aches and pains buddy. Ankle and now hips.

kfuller - good job on the 5'er. Remind me, what's race distance?

Jill - that's too funny. Folks at work think I'm nuts for running 10 or so miles on purpose let alone by accident.

Morning all,

Sounds like some sleepy people are putting in good runs anyway. I'm in the sleepy camp too...I was up early but unfortunately not to run. DW needed to get out to work early and so I made the coffee, breakfast, etc. Too bad because the weather at around the BCOD was nice. Now it's headed up to the 90s eventually but not quite so humid today.

My plan for today is to get 12-13 either as one run or two. Midday 8, perhaps with an evening trail run would fit the bill nicely.

Who knows, with DW out playing soccer with her women's team this evening, maybe I'll "accidentally" (Jill) run a few more miles than what the plan says.

BBS- My only goal this year is to beat the time I had at this race last year. I believe I ran just over 46 minutes. If I could do around 34 or less I would be happy with the race.

Well it's a hot one, like 7 inches from the midday Sun...

91 for my midday run today. At least it wasn't humid. But with bright sun it certainly felt like you could fry an egg on the sidewalk. I tried a new route today thinking it would be about the same as my normal route, i.e., about 8 but it ended up being a hair under 7 at 6.94 total. And yeah, I had a Chances moment after finishing, thinking "jeez if I had just run halfway around my office parking lot I could have had 7." Averaged 8:08 for the whole thing but went MP for the final mile, so I guess it qualifies as a progression run.

RA - re your comment about MP earlier, I'm struggling to hit the desired pace as well. In the spring I trained at 7:15/mile, then at Boston I ended up running 3:20 which is 7:24/mile. Today my "MP mile" was 7:24. And that's where about all my recent MP runs have been. Not sure what it all means. But hopefully I'll improve as the fall temps drop and my conditioning goes up.

Run #2 of the day done, all at super easy recovery jog pace. Once again I managed to come up just short of a nice round number with 4.97 miles...wait a second, that's equal to exactly 8k. So there. ;)

11.9 for the day. Close enough.

Another 7.xx mile run for me this morning. Humidity was up a little more but I survived it again. My pace was even a tad quicker than yesterday. I really need to sit down and pull out my old marathon training plans and get my schedule set up for this fall.
