Morning...

Awake early- even before my alarm- to go running this morning. I was debating going since as I lay in bed, it was lightning/thundering. I think it's more heat lightning, though. It is overcast, but not raining! I looked to see if the lunar eclipse was visible but it's not! Oh well.

I'm still congested, but I really don't want to skip a run, esp. after skipping spin class last night. We have "open house" for the parents tonight (read: 2 1/2 hrs of meeting all these parents that I have no idea who they are because there are 40 of them in there at a time!) I hate these nights since we end up staying until 9 pm, since there is ALWAYS that one parent that just wants to chat. It wouldn't be so bad if we at least got overtime or something when we have to stay so late, but nope. This is under "other duties". We have a lot of those.

Sorry! No more complaining!

Pretty cool run, Cactus. And sorry I didn't add you earlier as a friend on Spark. I didn't realize that it didn't already do that when one person does it. Glad to have started your day off right!

Hey, Mandy what shoes did you end up wearing yesterday?

Diane- how are you feeling? Maureen- how was that run?

Oh, one last thing- Vick is a total idiot. When will they stop talking about him on the news?! I feel bad for the rest of the team because they are basically chopped liver during all this!

Ok, happy Tues. Gonna attempt that run.

Ciao ciao.

Good morning, Beth.

I just got back a bit ago from 5 miles, 1 mile warmup, 3 miles tempo, 1 mile cooldown. Ran this one at the nearest high school track, it was a bit odd to run while the moon slowly got eclipsed. Me and the track have to become friends now if I want to continue running in the mornings, sun gets up too late now.

Gotta eat some yogurt, get showered, go to doctor before work.

Hey Moon! I checked out that website you mentioned, REI.com, that has WR10s for under $30. It seems like they only have mens size 13 for that price, and that's it. My feet ain't that big. Oh well, I might have to find some other way to score cheap WRs. Roadrunner Sports has them for $80. That's cheaper than they used to be... but it's a lot more than $30...

Morning all- slept like a rock last night- i had a headache so took 1 Tylenol PM- I was knocked out!
My abs are sore today from yesterdays pilates, but it's a good sore. Don't know who saw my post yesterday after the doc's appt but he said to wait another week or two before running- I can spin though so that's good. I'm trying to be a good patient!
Moe- feel better soon! Beth- I agree about the Vick coverage. I have to go to REI this weekend- anyone want me to check the store for WRs? I'm happy to.
Going to power yoga tonight- and I will be sweating like 30 whole men since they keep it about 98 degrees in there. Gotta shower and get to work! ta ta

Good morning~

I did my 2 miles and some cardio machines last night. I've never run so soon after a long race, just 2 days. I had some mild hamstring soreness that went away, but even running slowly, my stomach still hurt a little. Not sure why. No run today, it's Tuesday.

My only comment about the Vick situation is that he should also apologize specifically to his brother. When his brother got into trouble a few years ago, everyone raked him over the coals and said "why can't you be more like your big brother Michael" as if Michael was the embodiment of all things good and Marcus was just a little punk. I don't remember specifically how much Michael defended his brother from all that, but it turns out that Marcus apparently was a lot like his big brother after all. Anyway, Michael said he was going to redeem himself. He could certainly start by floating some of his $$ to animal welfare organizations.

Have a student waiting, so I"ll BBL...

Hi all!

Moe - get some good news from the doctor...feel better!

KJ - sorry the doctor gave you another few weeks non-running - glad you're getting some other exercise in the meantime!

I totally forgot to set my alarm to get up and see if I could check out the lunar eclipse...was it cool? what did I miss?

Yesterday was "stretch/strengthen" on HH's schedule, but I combined that with 1 hour of biking/step machine since I missed my Saturday x-training. I don't think I'll wear myself down too much by combining some days - since it's all makeup work!

I've also decided to start doing pushups every single night - I want pipe-cleaner arms just like Pacer! I have to wear a strapless bridesmaid dress in October and I figure nice looking arms are a must!

All right, I suppose I have to go to work. Have a good day all!

Got my HbA1c result at my doctor's office this morning, 5.6%. Woohoo. That's pretty damn good all things considered. Even though it's in the normal reference range for HbA1c results, it's not really the same as a person with a working pancreas. But my doctor is quite pleased and he's astonished by the progress I've made in fitness over the last 12 months.

Mornin' all!!

Hope your run goes well, Beth. I envy all of you who can drag themselves outta bet and run on a regular basis. The last two mornings would've been awesome to run. Sunny and cool. But alas, I can't get my carcass outta bed, so I'll run in the heat today at lunch.

No running yesterday. Took an extra day off. I just felt bad. Felt sick or something. I did get the grass cut, though.

That stuff knocks me out too. I had never had it before until last year when I had Lasik. Just after the proceedure, and initial once over, they gave me one Tylenol PM, and told me to go home. They gave me another Tylenol PM to take once I got home. Prior to the operation they gave me a Valium.

So... Valium + Tylenol PM + Tylenol PM + Myron = Unconscious Myron for about 6 hours.

Morning kids - did not even know that there was a lunar eclipse - I was up and could have seen it. Moon (the big rock in the sky that laps the earth, not the dude in Cali) has been harvest-y lately. Semi-orange\yellow. And some trees are starting to turn. Autumn is coming....

Running - east 4.7. Calf still cranky. Making this a 'real' recovery week. (I usually only halfa$$ my recovery weeks.)

Vick - His apologies mean nothing. He is apologizing because he got caught, not because he is contrite about what he did.

I agree. That's a great idea. With PETA so involved, perhaps they should suggest it as well. ASPCA? That would be a great start. I actually heard a comment on the news last night from one of his "supporters": "It's not like he killed a person!"

Uh, yeah. So is that how they treat their animals, too??!! Kill them when they don't "sit" on command?! Sorry, obviously animal cruelty hits a sore spot with me!! If it had been anyone else besides a stupid NFL player, then it wouldn't have gone on so long and he wouldn't have gotten such an easy plea agreement.

[/soapbox!]

Back to class...

Moe feel better! KJ glad you got the greenlight for some kind of activity!

I agree. For the most part the kind of trouble Marcus was in (while I'm not saying it wasn't serious) was IMO forgiveable. Giving alcohol to minors, weed, etc. etc. With the exception of when he threatened those kids with a handgun - I thought he got off pretty easy for that.

However, what Michael did... I'll find a hard time forgiving. I'm having a hard time with his apology. Is he really sorry... or like most criminals, is he only sorry he got caught. That's all I'm going to say about that...

Morning Gang - Happy Dark Tuesday!

No seeing the eclipse up north this morning - it was still raining.

Last night though, DH was on the deck talking with a patient? the hospital? someone other than me, I was on the couch reading, he snapped his fingers and gestured at me wildly - pretty much freaked the dogs out. I meandered over to him, he's pointing to a black spot in the back yard. A black spot that normally isn't really black.

BIG black bear in my back yard. It was very cool.

Lots of thunder, lightning and rain last night and I'm seriously doubting my house will be painted today. Which is okay, not much good to me if it burns down after it's been painted because it's too dry outside.

Got a date with hill repeats and my husband tonight. Am really looking forward to that.

I hope you all have lovely days!!

(((Maureen))) I hope you feel better soon.

(((Mandy))) I hope that toe doesn't really fall off - and that it stops makin' you woozy!

Well last night's run just wasn't taking so I backed off and will try it again today. My calves were tight as all get out and my HR was through the roof ...not good conditions to do 1000m repeats. I think some of it was dehydration and some of it was fallout from the 2 hr. bike ride I took on Sunday. At any rate got 6 done last night and will try for 11+ this evening. I may even run to the track as boB suggested and do the intervals there. Thx B!

And that's when we delicately place the giant dead bug on him.

Norah - try alternating between regular push-ups and tri push-ups …you'll be rocking that strapless dress in no time!

Scratch - that's great news from the doc.

Kris - I caught a bit of St. Elmo's Fire last night …has anyone ever told you that you've got a little Mare Winningham going on? I think it's the face & smile

Maureen - Get yourself to the doc, stat.

Good Morning
McTortle we have had black bears in our area for the last couple of years. Our local news channel was warning people that bears are in the area last Friday. They are a little late I think.

{{Maureen}} feel better soon.

Week 4, day 1 of the running program is finished. Time to change my running route. The neighbors have figured out where I run and like to visit with me while I run. The first person wanted to know what my hubby was doing. I said I wasn't sure but stop at the house and see. The next one wanted to know what my son was doing.....again, not sure, go up to the house. Yes, we do have phones....they could have called. That was what was so funny, they both admitted they could have called the house, but knew I would be out running, so they thought it would be easier to catch up with me.
