Another gray morning here -- but it was drier and cooler. Great morning for a run! Well, for those of you running...

I swam yesterday -- longer one for me. 2500 meters. Did 1000 slow and easy then a 60 sec break, then 1000 a little harder, then a break, then some intervals for the last 450, then an easy 50 to finish.

An older lady was doing exercises in the pool, afraid to even walk the length. I told her it'll never get over her neckline, but she was still scared. I put her along the wall and walked the length with her, and the look on her face when she made it to the other end was priceless. She walked back on her own as I got out of the pool.

Morning all! Soggy and gray here too + humid (boooo!). Met up with Tavia this morning for an easy 7.7 miles. Thinking some yoga is definitely in order for this evening.

Lora - that's awesome! I'm sure she'll continue thinking of you, helping her conquer that fear, for quite awhile.

Morning Gang -

See, Lora, things besides running can be rewarding for you! Awesome way to start the day.

Nice job getting out there Maria.

I got 6 slow miles done. Was about 30 seconds too late to bust car full of highschoolers TP'ing a neighbor's house (bet they were surprised someone was actually up and about at 4:30!) Also got hissed/snarled at by a crazy black animal that I couldn't tell what it was in the dark and without my glasses (a raccoon maybe?). Wild morning of running in the hood!

Well, I had packed a bag yesterday to do a run on campus, either outside or at the rec center. Except I forgot to pack my lock for the locker at the rec, and I forgot a hat and it was raining hard enough to need one. I already was feeling very tired (napped after I got home) and so lost the battle to find enough mojo to get out there. *sigh*

Greetings, all.

Spinning was much harder last night than I anticipated. Even with backing off on the resistance. Owwwwch. The good news is that my fairly tight hamstring isn't nearly as tight this AM, so perhaps the class was a great thing, after all. It did tucker me out though. My hands were shaking at the end of it!

Today: 4-5 on the TM after work. If I didn't feel guilty about coming home after work, letting the dogs out, putting them back up, and going for a run, I'd run outdoors. I do feel sorry for the little beasties though after being kenneled all day - and they're SO happy to see me.. I feel like a bad dog-parent if I leave again so quickly. Ahh well. Maybe it'll be cool enough that I can leave the door from the workout room to the fenced yard. Then they can get their exercise, and I can breathe in this glorious cool weather air that came in this morning!

SP - That was WONDERFUL for you to take a few minutes with the little old lady. You made ME smile. I can't imagine how happy the lady must be.

It's rainy/crappy here today so I hopped on the tm for a few. Going to do core stuff next. And then start painting. As much as I can feel that in my arms/shoulders/neck that should count too.

Blister - 1, Amichel - 0. doh. Really bizarre schedule today, but will try to get to spin class this evening since I didn't run this morning. Or maybe I'll run. I dunno, too much pressure:)

Lora - great story

Runnin-from-the-law - too bad the animal didn't hiss at the TPers instead of you!

Lora - that's awesome. I love it when people help people just because. Nothing expected in return, just helping. You rock!

Between walking Pico Freako this morning and walking to work I walked 1.5 miles today, but that's all the fitness I've gotten in. I'm taking it easy-ish. I might run a couple miles after work. There were a million people out running yesterday. I wanted to run, but thought rest would be better.

Solar is the berries!

3 miles this morning, kinda slow. And I barely made it home in time to hit the washroom. Yikes.

I ran a leg of the Rum Runners Relay on the weekend. It was a lot of fun, as always. Didn't do as well as I'd hoped, but I took 7 minutes off from the last time I ran that particular leg 2 years ago. Back then I did it in 1 hour, 7 minutes, 14 seconds (10.6 k). This time I did it in 1 hour, 26 seconds. I was hoping to break the hour mark. Close! While I was running, I got a fly stuck in my eye. I thought I got it out but the next day I woke up and was rubbing my eyes and the fly carcass came out. Gross!

I met up with my training buddy Brad and we knocked out 15 miles at 8:02 pace this morning. Felt great in the sub-60 degree weather.

I'm back at work and trying to dig out from beneath the mountain of stuff... geez, I was only gone a few days!

The Komen 3-Day walk was amazing. The 3 days of walking were a challenge unto themselves, and my feet and legs are SORE, but that is to be expected. K asked me last night what my favorite memory was from the weekend, and I couldn't come up with any one thing. The support from the city and people were incredible. On day 2 an entire block decorated their houses and yards, put out food and drink, and cheered for hours until all the walkers were though. The kids screamed like you were a celebrity. We even had cheerleaders with special "Booby Cheers" The final day we walked through Thousands of cheering people before the Closing Ceremony. To look around and see so many pink shirts (survivors), many of whom I had no idea about as I had just spent the last days with them, was a poignant reminder why were doing this.

There were about 2300 walkers, and combined with the we crew raised over 6 million dollars. So I owe many of you a wonderful and truly heartfelt THANKS!

I also read the late night posts. I hate seeing threads on the main 30s page with unread posts.

3:37, Tim? Umm, I don't think so.

Have I said my congrats to Tonya for the weekend? If not, congrats!

Solar - did you then take that lady's towel and chuck it in the deep end and steal her lunch money out of her shoe? I seem to recall that happening at the pool when I was a kid...

Phdatc - Great job...I hope to see some of the Booby Cheer photos!

7 @ lunch - I headed to the track to get in some pace miles for Sunday...target was 7:15 and I ran 7:14, 7:15, 7:15. I guess that's a good sign?! My left hammy is still tight from Air Force but hopefully it will loosen up and Sunday won't be a crampfest.

Pacer - yup. kinda ruins the good feel of the story, though, so I didn't mention that part.
