About 6km on the OC2. Interesting steering!! Had my old coach behind me - we'd barely taken two strokes before she started in on me. It was awesome! I miss my coach

Thank you very much!!!

Start time was 44F and foggy at my place as I dressed for a rare January run in shorts. Temperature seemed to range +5F to -10F as we rose and fell for 5.65m on this dark morning. Fortunately, there was no sun out yet or the glare from Iron Boy's, the Andyman's, and my pasty white legs might have been blinding for the M-Dawg! (The Diesel played it safe in tights.)

Feeling my back again... Now at the base of my tailbone. Not sure if it's a consequence of a sledding accident over the holidays or the same piriformis strain just flaming up a bit lower. Either way, it hurts, and it made what should have been a fun run more of a struggle.

Let's have a big ol' piece of pie tri-peeps!

Balmy in some places (see LRR's post) this morning here north of Boston. Interesting conversations around the water cooler with the New Hampshire primary in full swing, though since I live in Mass I feel like I'm just looking in the windows at all the shoppers. With my primary not for another several weeked, I wished talk would huddle around talk of Roger Clemens.

Rooster... welcome! What's your focus for 2008? Any big races or just the race of life?

LRR: Damn that nerve.

Me...

5.65 mile run early this balmy-yet-chilly-yet-balmy-over-there-yet-chilly-in-that-air-pocket morning. Ran in shorts for second time this year. Followed immediately by...

50 min Trainer session:
o WU - 20 min (still reading "A Place Called Freedom" by Ken Follett)
o 2 x 2' G(6, 7, 8, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5)
- Pushed solid avg of 278W. And I could tell because the very last two intervals were very, very difficult to hold on to with a semblence of cadence. Good ride. Feeling it now.

Gyrate those hips, Tri-shakers!

Time to get serious about training and posting again. 15 weeks until Boston!

55 degrees at 5:15 am in Chicago on Jan 8th! Been setting records for the last couple of days. It was also raining, so Dave and Darryl wimped out and did the treadmill.

Today's run was all about raising the LT. 10 min WU, then 60 min at low zone 4, about 10 beats below LT, then 20 min CD. Covered 12.2 miles, the pace during the MS was somewhere in the mid 6:50's. Took me about 20 min to get my HR up to zone 4 in the MS. I'm slower than I need to be, but I've still got time before Boston. Like I said, time to get serious.

45 min spin on the trainer tonight and 30 min weights and core work.

Rooster - welcome and thanks for posting. Lurking is okay, but its so much better when you just jump in. Its a pretty encouraging group.

LRR - I haven't been reading the posts much lately, hope your injury hasn't been too long term and you get over it soon.

Don't get all shook up tri-peeps!

First swim in a long time today! Did 2100 meters in the 1972 Olympics Pool here in Munich. It's a great pool, and lacks the usual assortment of German-swimming-pool weirdos doing breaststroke, and diving under you with fins and a snorkel. My shoulders are going to feel it tomorrow, though. Track intervals later on tonight. We'll see if I can find a track!

Unplanned rest day...my asthma reared it's ugly head last night, so I spent a good deal of the night coughing instead of sleeping. Better today, but I'm afraid of pushing it as I have a teeny bit of albuterol left - time to call the doctor! Hopefully I can get a prescription so I'll feel OK going to the pool in the morning.

Welcome Rooster! Are you new to triathlons or an old pro?

Rest day for me. Knees feel surprisingly good this morning. Perfect timing for a rest day. Maybe, just maybe, I'm on the tail end of this injury.

Don't wear your blue suede shoes in the rain, Peeps.

Today I'm breaking out the Yoga for Athletes DVD that I received for Christmas.

Welcome Rooster!

I hope you aren't getting sick Looki. Every single time I have had asthma issues out on a run, I've been sick within two days. Take care and call your doctor!!!

Tithers--love the new photo!!!

Tammy--which yoga DVD do you have? My coach gave me Flexible Warrior for Chrsitmas.

I was supposed to do yoga class today, but mentally just couldn't be with people today. So, to the fishbowl for me. No creepy guy again today!!! I thought that things were coming together today. Long and strong. Good pull. Except, I logged the worst time ever for this workout. WU/CD 300, T-pace 100, 200, 300, 400, 400, 300, 200, 100. 1:07. What the hell am I doing wrong?!?!?!??!

Forgot my garmin, but ran anyway. I think that route is somewhere around 4.5m. 38:32, with a 30sec neg split. Very enjoyable run in shorts and short sleeves!

Thanks Tammy - Doctor has been called, I should be able to pick up my refill this afternoon. This is typical for me this time of year, either I'm fighting a virus, or getting used to my 'fluffy' cat sleeping on my pillow with me again for warmth...bad habit for an asthmatic, I know

4BoysMom: I got flexible warrior for Christmas as well. I did the flexibility part of it the other day and loved it! I especially appreciated the one person she had demonstrate the exercises for the totally inflexible. That made me feel good!
