I hope all from VT or friends and family of people there find someway to make it through today.

Well sorry to keep ya hanging last night but I doubt anyone was on late enough to see what I said anyways. Things went incredibly well besides my unplanned race. Someone was gone so I got thrown into the 4x8...ugh...and ran my leg in 2:18. Not bad but not really great.

Well then 3 events later I was in the mile and feeling still quite worn out from the 800 ran a pretty decent mile. 1:15, 1:19, 1:17, and 1:16 or something very close to that for a 5:07 and a new mile PR by 11 seconds.

The big event for me that I was actually pretty rested for was the 2 mile. The guy who beat me by a little bit was talking to me and said he hoped to run close to 11 so I thought I'd stay with him. Well first lap was right on schedule and I found myself in 4th place. It was really comfortable but the leader and kid I planned on following were pulling away. 1:22. Next lap I started squeezing it down and trying to catch up and moved to 3rd. 1:26. Uh oh, this isn't picking it up. Okay same thing for the next 2 laps and I'm finally on this kid. 1:22, 1:21. 5:31 for the mile split. Now I'm running about 10 feet in front of this kid and he seems to be holding steady. Lucky for him he was at a home meet so about every 10 seconds he'd have someone cheering him on. Me...I had about 3 spots around the track where I heard nice job and so on. He clung on for about a lap and a half. Those 2 laps in 1:21, 1:22. My XC Coach is always there giving me splits and he says I really gapped the kid by now but first place is way off in the distance, about 100m ahead. He says just run for time now...boy am I tired. I work on my form and my arms are tightening up, but I realize I'm on pace for a great time so I keep trying to reel in that first place guy. Not happening but still a nice lap. 1:22...somehow I still have energy left and finish strong about 11 seconds behind first place in 10:57 with a last lap of 1:17. A huge PR for me but the thing is...I never ran this event competetively all of track. So I guess it was an almost guaranteed PR. Cool thing is...I didn't feel ideal last night and I still got a few weeks of good training so I'm hoping for some more drops still.

Sorry for the longness...I am just really proud of myself.

Have a good day and God bless!

And you have more than every right to feel proud of yourself. Man oh man.

Have you ever gone back and read your reports from about a year ago? Do you remember everyone telling you that you were doing the right things and not to sweat the bad days?

Congratulations on a great meet Alex!

7 hilly miles with 9x100 metres strides. I haven't lost THAT much conditioning, but I did feel it today as I pushed the pace a bit. Some discomfort, but I managed to hold on strong. Two miles at better than MP. The first was net downhill, the second netted to flat (half a mile down half a mile up). Discomfort aside, I'd say that I'm about 85% of where I was three weeks ago. I'll go with that. 1:01:22

Alex - You rock! I am sure glad our events are 5 mile and 10 mile and not 2 mile or 5k Gives this old Clyde a chance with a young stallion like you!

I am happy that I skipped the T-Paced workout yesterday. Today I was a little short on time and still deeply distburbed by the VT shootings - I was not very productive yesterday - Wow the world sucks sometimes.

The best thing when my heads to full of stuff is a kick-ass workout! Short on time - Don't warmup as much.

15 total miles with 10 @ T pace in 4-3-2-1 fashion on TM - Was hard but strong and I was tired but not destroyed at the end -

Good running to all -

Don't tell my doctor or my husband, but I just went for a quick run around my neighborhood. Its a beautiful day, and I just couldn't NOT run.

I'm wicked outta shape though. I don't think the run was more than 2.5-3 miles, and I was huffing and puffing at the end.

Lily, why shouldn't you run? I'm sorry if you've said and I don't remember.

Yesterday I ran 4.5 in 46:51 and my knee hurt after about 3 miles. I haven't done anything about that yet. However, on Friday's run of 3.6 miles, I didn't have any knee pain at all. Go figure. Must have rolled it just right.

I woke up and did 5.4 this morning, at about 8:40 pace. It felt good. My shins are still a little sore from the hills in the race on Sunday, but they didn't bother me running. It was a nice, cool morning - mid 50s. I felt great.

Great workouts everyone!

My doctor believes that running interferes with fertility treatment. But this cycle was unsuccessful anyway and I personally believe that getting fat would be more detrimental to my fertility than a few short runs!

2.1 miles in 25:12 (12mm) on the treadmill. Three weeks post partum today and feeling good.

My older sis has been recommending pilates as a way to get my abs back in shape, so I ordered a dvd on netflix to try out. I've never done it before.

Also, I think everyone has me scared that my uterus is going to fall out, so I'm a little paranoid about my running.

Did not want to go out. Weather still teh suck.

7 miles @ an easy 8:01 pace. 31 degrees, moderate rain and wet heavy snow, 20 mph headwind most of the time, 4-6 inches of slush in spots otherwise alot of puddles and rivulets. Almost bailed at 5.

Feet very wet and very cold at the end.

Better now and glad I got my lazy butt out the door.

Of course the rain and snow has now ended...

Taught pilates w/physioballs this morning, and swam 1700 m this afternoon. I did a lot of sprint sets, and they are feeling easier.

Well I ditched practice but with coach's permission since my calves are oh so tight! 4.5 easy and I dragged another sprinter who ditched practice 'cause he feels all poopy too. At the end he was talking to his woman and was like..."Ya I just ran like 6 miles with Alex." I just laughed and walked away...I'm gonna Stick 'em up and ice. Most likely a hot tub soaking too...after I finish my homework of course though...

Numbers: 4.5 at 8 min. pace.

Hi all

No run for me today. Scheduled day off, and let me tell you, the legs really do need it.

For those of you who were disappointed not to see pics from Saturday's race, check the PRT. There's a couple of pics there. I suppose if I were a nice guy I'd hyperlink to them...Hmmm....

Anyway, here's wishing you all a good/safe run/whatever today.

90 minutes in the weight room. Didn't hurl, but sure thought about it for a while.

Some youngster with a death wish decided that the best place to do push-ups would be under the left side of a 175-pound barbell while I was doing squats.

Words were said. He moved.

I was planning on a 3.5 mile walk/run today outside, but the dark forbidding rainy streets made me run back inside for coffee.

3 miles on the treadmill. I got home late and felt icky after eating conference food all day long, but I did it anyway and I feel better now.

10 miles cycling, run 3 easy miles.

Cycled to the track for the Tuesday group and just jogged a few easy ones. I've kept active since the race and I must say that active recovery is working. The legs did not reject the idea of running. Yay!
