5.21 miles this morning at a 8:14 pace. Ribs are still sore, but it is not the breathing that hurts, it is the coughing now from the cold I have! OY!

A cold front came through last night - probably the last one of those we're going to see for a while - and brought down the temps and humidity to 54 degrees and 46% humidity.

A bit chilly with a sleeveless shirt on into a cold north wind, but really Perfect!

6.1 easy GA miles at 9:09 min/mile pace overall. But I did have five 8:50's in there somewhere. Avg. HR 135.

Bill

PS: Don't bother reading today's POTD. That guy's boring ...

I hope things are working out for Jura and her DD. A sick child is always a worry.

Todd, did you run 5.21 miles or 10.42?

And about those Soundie & Arf photos yesterday. Whew -- words fail me. (Now, if I were about 15 years younger...).

Did some workouts this morning on the elliptical, plenty of stretching, and upped my TM distance to 1.5 miles. I think I've finally turned the corner on the leg and am starting to come back. We've got a 2-week vacation coming up in a couple of weeks, and I'll probably continue to take it easy until we return and I can get back on a regular schedule at last.

Good running, everyone!

Good morning. I expected to be sore this morning but I wasn't. I did 33 minutes of elliptical and 15 minutes of good stretching & abs.

Great pics of our own goddesses yesterday! I suppose the guys are ok too
Fortunate one looked like he was having a blast.

8 miles this morning as the sun was coming up. A big bright orange ball rising in the East with no clouds, winds, smog, or dust to hide it. 8 Miles at 7:40 pace. More tonight after church meetings.

Looking for an RTB to return soon.

Have good days all.

9 miles @ GA pace in cold but bright conditions. Come on Spring....where are you?

Actually my pace started pretty fast. I'm feeling really good these days! I made sure to take it down a notch since yesterday was a workout day. The 9 felt like 3. I wish they all could feel this easy.

Good Morning,

Lynden, I'm with you. Had a very carpy 8 mile run. It seemed to last forever...just slow and plodding. 1:09:06 (8:3 I think that LR this past w/e took more out of me than I realized. Oh well, can't be sproinky every day I suppose.

It seems like this is an 8 miler day. I also fit in an 8 miler this morning. I had to set the alarm clock one hour and a half earlier than my usual time to fit it in, but it is done. Just like lynden and irunmike it took me a while to get in the groove. I attribute it to the 23 degree weather and me wearing my spring tight and not the one I use during the winter months.

During my run I was thinking of perchcreek's posting yesterday:
I have this posting printed out and posted by my running gear as a remainder in the next couple of weeks.

I haven't done my run yet for the day...too busy getting the grocery shopping and Tar-jay shopping done. Along with a stop at Marathon Sports to pick up my 2008 Boston Marathon jersey! I'm about to head out to get my hill repeats done...

But, I just had to share this picture! When I dropped DS off at preschool this morning, there was a picture taped to the top of his cubby...him running at the MIT track last autumn! I asked his teacher to email it to me if she could find it...and here it is!

I'm going to try to remember to look that happy on my run today...

That's a great pic, Robin! Not much to report here, just behaving and resting so I can get my butterfly hugs. I walked the dog last night around the block, not even enough for 1 VRAA point but the foot felt good so I'll take it. Just found out here at work that starting next week, we're earning $100 for each of our team members walking (or running) 10 miles per week for thirteen weeks. Most of my coworkers are excited about this new project sponsored by the Community Foundation. They come to me and tell me about it, and I'm not even the team captain. They just know I'm already logging my miles.

I'm really bummed this morning. I went out for an easy 5 at lunch yesterday and with a 1/4 mile left to go my left leg buckled. I felt like someone had kicked me in the hamstring. I walked it out... the sharp pain went away and was replaced by a dull ache. I iced, then went to my massage therapist. She couldn't find any evidence of a tear or rupture. In fact during her probing, I didn't feel any pain. Today my hamstring is tight, but I can walk easily, climb stairs, etc...

Anybody have anything like this happen before? I don't "do injuries", so I'm not sure how to proceed. I have a 50k on Saturday: I'm thinking of resting until Thursday, then trying a short run. If everything feels normal, I'll go to the 50k and use a 5 min run 1 min walk strategy. I'm approaching the 50k as a last long run before Boston. It's a 3 mile flat loop so I can bail out at anytime.

If I feel any soreness, I'll sit out the 50k but I'm worried about not getting a long run in. If I miss the 50k, my last long run will be 5 weeks out from Boston. Anybody have advice for me?
