Morning all! Up and getting ready to walk over to the pool; I really need this. Planning to cruise by the Nintendo store afterwards and hopefully score my nephew a Wii. The kid is an addict and his parents can't seem to get one in STL.

Nettie - GOOD LUCK with your 50 mile week!!!!

Good morning, Maria. And to everyone else as well.

I'm still feeling a wee bit under the weather, but not too bad. I hope to get a few miles in this afternoon. Thank goodness it's an easy day anyway. We shall see...

Got up to run 9 this morning, hit snooze one time too many. Got up, dressed and out the door for 6 miles instead @ 5:30 am. Halfway around the block, I turned around - too freakin' cold. 31 degrees (which I think it nice), real feel of 10 (then why don't they just say that it's 10 degrees out?), with winds of ~ 23 mph.

I have NEVER in my life turned around once I was out the door.

And cold doesn't usually bother me once I get going. But to do it entirely in the dark?

Yeah, I guess I'm a wuss.

Morning all.

Got 2 on the 'mill last night with a new pair of shoes. (Same ones I've been using - just introduced a new pair into the rotation)

Halfway through, the left side started feeling really cramped. After finishing the run, I did a side-by-side comparison. The box they came in says size 9. Both shoes individually say size 9. The left one, just by looking at it, is clearly NOT a size 9 and is mislabeled. Bleh. Gotta return that this weekend, I suppose!

Also played around for maybe 20 mins on the bike trainer. As expected, it is super loud with trail tires on the bike. After not being able to hear Heroes easily, I hopped off for the night. Figure I'll visit the local bike store late this week or early next week for a tire specifically for use with the trainer.

Happy runs to all!

Hey folks,

Still not much to report in the fitness realm. I did realize this morning that it was one year ago this week that I got my boot off and slowly began returning to running! Makes me feel even more guilty that I haven't run in a week now. Sort of in a funk, busy, too cold/weather, etc.. all together conspiring against it! It's supposed to be something like 60* this weekend, so that's most likely when I'll get back out there. I'd go sooner except I will be tutoring and *stuff* after work everyday this week!

Ailarie, that is so weird! Hope you get that cleared up with the shoes.

Have a great day folks!! Gotta get to work......... (boooooooooooo)

quick check in. I have 5 on the schedule for later today. Looking forward to it, but the Thumb of God is still more like the entire hand out there today. Hold on to your hats, people!

morning all,

Got out for 7 easy last night...good prep for this weekends race. I held a steady pace of 7:46 per mile. We'll see how that shakes out this weekend.

Found out yesterday I was quoted in the Birmingham newspaper last week regarding the Marine Corps Marathon. Check it out here:

http://www.al.com/birminghamnews/sto...l=2&thispage=1

Good morning!
Was going to do 5 this morning, but it was windy and I had a hard time getting myself outside. I'll do it tonight after dinner.

4 miles in 27F (21F with windchill) degree weather. I think I'll start crying when it gets to the teens, but so far, I'm taking it all in a stride.

thanks. That part wasn't quite accurate. It was my 3rd marathon, but who's counting?

Did not run yesterday or do any XT. No real reason, just no real motivation. I'm up a few lbs since I arrived in Philly, how come that isn't motivation???

According to my Philly Half-Marathon Finisher's Certificate, I'm 40 to 44 years old.

Hope to run this afternoon, but that's subject to change with other tasks maybe taking priority as needed.

My certificate says I did my first half in 2:25 which makes me even more about my time.

It's a bit painful to see my time, too. But then maybe it's always useful to remember that you finished ahead of all the people in the region who didn't run that day.

I also always try to remember that's it entirely possible I will never have all that much speed but I still get all the cool cardio benefits and improved circulation in my legs which is of much greater importance than a how fast number in a PDF file.

Day 1 week 9 of OHR is finished. I even tracked my miles so I can report at the end of December. Perhaps I will create a spreadsheet today to keep track.

You can use a spreadsheet. You can also go the high end wizardry like Ptom and use the wonders of run.txt. Some of us here use the running logs at runningahead.com.

Just got back from 3 in the park. I woke up not even wanting to get out of bed. I was 95% going to call in a personal day and just stay in bed. Not sick at all but just felt "bleh". Super cold this morning at the run. But when I finished my third mile and was stretching afterwards at my car something nice happened. I was no longer cold and actually felt great. The sun was rising over the trees. The sky was two shades of blue and the clouds were zigzagging as if the artist just was painting slashes. The clouds were bright white with a touch of light gray here and a dark streak of grey there. As I just stood there leaning against my car and taking it in I felt so much better than when I was reaching for the alarm to turn it off. I stood there for about 5 minutes but I wish I had about an hour just to stand there and take it all in. I think I choose to have a great day.

thanks
