What up peeps?

50 minute run for me this am (6 miles). It was 24 degrees, crisp and clear. Still feeling very thankful the snow, ice and freezing temps have not yet settled in.

Feeling a bit down given my weight it up. I need to drop some tonnage. Which clearly means more than lip service to a wlc..... Last week was fun, but I need to get back on track.

Morning all.

Spent the morning cuddling on the couch with DS instead of going out in the rain. I can't regret that in terms of life priorities, but for WLC and exercise priorities it was off the mark :)

Today is our team holiday lunch, and we're going to a Japanese steakhouse. That will probably turn in to a two hour lunch, so that should make the rest of the day go faster!

Morning!

5 miles for me this morning.

Aaaaaaand he did it to me again. Was finishing up some dog dishes, and Dh comes downstairs. The basement door was open, so I didn't hear the squeak, and he just had socks on. So I didn't know he was there till he was in the door way. And I had the 3 smaller fill-in logs I made yesterday laying down on the table next to the bowl I was working on.

:sigh:

I'm thankful he is supportive of my projects, but does he NOT want to be surprised on Christmas???

Morning, folks.

Today's fitness homework was to run .25, walk .25, run .25 and walk .25. I went to daily Mass before the gym and it hurt to genuflect, kneel, stand up, sit down, etc. I was worried about the walk/run, but it went fine. I averaged 10:44 mm for the .5 of running which would have been speedy for me when I was in shape, so that was run.

I was down .6 for the week, but I really need to pay more attention to my food intake. Too much fast food because I don't like to cook and I don't want to buy a whole lot of food since I'm leaving on Thursday morning. We'll see how Candy Central, aka my mom's house, goes for the rest of the challenge.

Love to all!

Hi gang,

Thanks for all the birthday wishes last week! I had a bit of a rough day with this whole turning 40 thing. *sigh* But I'm still welcome here amongst you all, I hope!

Evelyn has a stomach bug. It's really knocked the good out of her, poor girlie. I hope she feels better for her birthday later this week!

Oh, the strategy I've been working on is finally going to Council this evening! Here's a link to an article from yesterday's local paper:

Haven't been running as much as I'd like lately. But I did take the girls out in the stroller the other day. They're getting way heavy for that! Whew! And I've been having fun with my new exercise hula hoop, too. : )

Greetings, all.

Yah - my lats are not barking at me like they were yesterday afternoon. That'll change after more yard work this weekend, but anyway.....

I'll get 3-5M tonight. Hopefully more on the 5 side, since in 20 minutes, we're having the company brunch, and there are all sorts of goodies (cheese grits , pigs in a blanket, hashbrown casserole) downstairs. /drool.

Have a good day folks!!!

Good morning, gals. Clare, don't worry about turning 40. Heck, there are probably about as many of us here in our 40s now as still in our 30s. And anyway, 40 is the new 30. Or something like that... Get-well vibes to Evelyn...

Good weight-loss vibes to everyone. I'm sure we could all use them with all the cookies flying around this time of year...

I did another "tempo" run last night. Not as speedy as I wanted, but meh, I got 10 miles done. And did I mention a couple days ago that I signed up for a New Years Day 5k? I did this race two years ago, and I think it was the coldest race I've ever participated in. Temps were close to zero, which probably is a typical April day for you Minnesota/Wisconsin folks... Last year, this race got postponed because we got two and a half feet of snow a few days before it. Let's see what fun stuff befalls the race this year...

Good morning all! Still fighting w/not getting sick, felt defeated last night but better this morning. I made a super awesome juice that I hope helps things out too (chard, red beet, celery, carrots, apple and a squeeze of fresh lemon); already feeling that boost. Decided to sleep in a little and hope I'm rewarded by having a higher energy day, will get out for a short run this evening.

Prae - what about making a crock pot or casserole of a healthy dish and then having it available to you for all of a week as a way around fast food? That way you do have to cook but the prep time is minimal and you just reheat for meals thereafter.

Happy to hear that my sister and Zz the wonder meower made it to STL last evening

Hey, quick question on the MN women's half: For those of you who registered, did you get a confirmation? And can't find mine (and don't recall if I ever received one). I e-mailed the RDs about 5 weeks ago requesting confirmation, but have heard nada.

BTW, forgot to mention that I am starting to enjoy my faster pace! Shaking the dust off, baby!

morning. Headed to LA today- it's the anniversary of Gray's heart surgery so I'm headed to CHLA to donate blood and drop off toys in his honor. The blood donation will mean no exercise for me today- had hoped to do an early yoga class but it didn't happen. I had another crap nights sleep.

He's very lethargic but will still have days or rather mornings or evenings showing spurts of energy. He's still not eating a whole lot so that makes sense; vet called us yesterday to confirm that he likely has a tumor and we now need to discuss surgery and other options. It's all too much to think about. But little guy still loves to cuddle and lick and lick and lick. :)

I caught RiL's migraine from last week. My eyes still can't focus completely, but it's better than yesterday. Just can't move my head too quickly.

LOVE the pic KJ!!

Missy - I feel bad that I didn't post that french toast recipe in its entirety. If it didn't come out well, it's not your fault. It should have read a mixture of eggs and eggnog. I hope it wasn't a soggy disaster.

Kitteh hugs for Dillion!

Brandy - yes, I get hot flashes on that first day despite BC. But only at night. During the day I freeze. Go figure.

howdy peeps.

Weird day so far, work-wise. I had to go to City Hall to get a birth certificate for someone but it appears he wasn't born in Boston, so now I have to go to the State office of vital records to find it. Hopefully they'll have it. My job is weird sometimes.

Just got back from an unofficial Christmas lunch with some coworker friends. I had little gifts for them, so it was nice to be able to give them out outside of the office (and not around other coworkers for whom I don't have gifts.)

Colleen, you'll be ok...you look great for 40, you've got two lovely kids and you're doing great stuff for your community. (((((hugs)))) none the less.

I found $5 this morning. So I gave our waitress a big tip at lunch.

Funny, the other day, when my friend poured herself some eggnog, another woman said, ya know, you can make French toast with eggnog?, and I asked if you need to add eggs, if you are using store bought. I guess that answers my question!

Yeah - I don't think there is enough of the eggy quality in the egg nog alone to get the right texture. But it's damn good when it's made right. I feel so bad.

Maria, I know that's probably the best strategy, but for some reason, I don't like to freeze food and reheat it later. [I don't think it's the taste, but every time I do this, the food just sits in the fridge until it molds.] Most crock pot recipes make too much for a single person to eat in a few meals. I'll work on it in the new year.

So, I've been giving Darcy liquid kitty Prozac since Saturday and he's been peeing in his litter box (!). Weird side effects include his not sleeping with me anymore () but he is extra cuddly on the couch ().

First-world problem: I made photo albums of my dad as Christmas presents, and they haven't arrived yet. They were supposed to show up yesterday and didn't. I leave on Thursday making tomorrow the last day I can pick them up. I sent a note to customer service, so hopefully all will be well. Last time I did this, customer service refunded the money and then the gift arrived, so I basically got it free. I'm not angling for that, but I sure wouldn't mind. I just want the photo albums, dangit!
