5 more days...the excitement is building. I'm actually excited to start training again, so I think the 2 weeks of rest has definitely done its job.

Have a great day.

Alex, glad to hear that you are itching to get back out there. I'm ramping up my miles so that I can begin a fairly aggressive training cycle targeting both a 5K in March and the Boston Marathon in April. This morning I ran 8 miles around the nearby park. The weather was accomodating (42°F), making this my favorite time of the year to run.

I will attempt to restart training (Cross with a few runs) after doing nothing but walking last week at Disney - I also have to restart weight loss - The mouse made me gain weight. In the spirit of a restart I made my goals / race schedule for 2008

Alex - Hopefully we can do 2 or 3 of these together
Bock (5M)
Bellin (10k)
H&S (5M)
Runski (10k)

Marathons (May be last year of these)
Boston - I would like to meet Roots (and Others)
Chicago - I'd like to meet Nirvana (and Others)

Ultras - Ice Age 50 Miler

Next year's real focus will be on running a fast fall 5k.

I am restarting @ 236# (10/29/07) after 8 weeks off - So there is a lot of cross training and slow running in my near future.

I may not post daily - but I will at least post weekly.

Good running to all -

Hey, there's some other people in Boston you should meet, just sayin'...

A slower tempo run today (but faster than normal training pace). 4.1 miles 33:13 (8:07).

Then I went into the gym and did some upper body weights & crunches. My arms are shaky still.

My coach is a lucky dog Mikey. For a vacation him and his wife, other coach, are heading to New York for 3 days and watching the Men's Trials. Plus their hotel is like a block away from central park so they get to run there too.

5.67 with a nasty fall downhill on ice. Put me on the cheese grater that did. I've got road rash up my right leg. Should be fun running tomorrow.

But, I did manage some fast miles after that (the last 2.67 actually.)

I taught yoga today -- it felt great.

For cardio it was cross-training. I am sure the class I went to was among the hundreds of spinning classes that incorporated Michael Jackson's "Thriller" into a pre-Halloween ride.

Plan tonight was to run my home 15.2 mile loop.

When I got out there, my legs were feeling pretty frisky, so I decided that I would push the pace just a little bit during miles 4, 5 and 6.

I came home a bit tired, but I came home feeling accomplished. This was my longest run since Bay State.

Beautiful night for a run.
