Got my 3 miles in today and it felt awesome! Added a great sprint at the end and even the dog was winded.

total 4.8 miles:
1.2 mile warm-up
4x800 at sub 7:45 pace with 2 min recovery
1.2 mile cooldown

Do you think I did enough repetitions?? the plan called for 6x800 but we got started too late...... also, what about heart rate on a workout like this?? How high should it go?

4 miles in 34:29. Legs felt pretty good, not too sluggish to start like most mornings. Followed up with some stretching, weights, and ab work. I might swim laps after work.

Nothing this morning. Daughter woke up about the time I was supposed to get up and run, and it took both parents to settle the chaos.

5 recovery miles. It felt good to just lollygag along and not worry about how fast I was running. I ended up finishing in just over 40 mins.

I did 5 miles at the mall, running up the hill to Barnes and Noble on my circuits of the parking lot. I was happy to keep my 11:30 pace - a bit slow on the first mile, but made up for it in subsequent miles. The monsoon clouds were like a thermal blanket but at least my mouth and skin were not instantly dried out thanks to the higher humidity.

Cheers,
toe jam on crusty feet - What was the purpose of the run?

- From a pure numbers standpoint you missed 1/3 of the workout. This is of course better than missing all a workout, but I wouldn't make a habbit of it.

I ran 6 easy @ lunch -

This humidity is killing me...yesterday and today I attempted to do tempo track workouts...wasn't even close today. Wanted 3x6:00 miles with 3 min. rest. First one was like 6:01, second one I couldn't even manage the first one on pace and then I just stopped halfway through the 2nd lap. I felt so weird, not really lightheaded or dizzy but just really horible. I drank plenty of water and even dumped a bit of it on myself but nothing kept me cool either. Will go for a normal run at about 9 or 10 tonight I'm guessing.

ran my 8 mile route, took me 3 minutes longer than it used to and it was killing me . 5 weeks off was hard, realizing that I have to run a minute slower per mile than my "old" pace, is just depressing.

Foxy Just to show that it comes back faster than you think, I ran a 2.6 mile course on Sunday in 21:30, feeling crap, and tonight I went out and ran the same route, and was over a minute faster, and tonight's run seemed easy, compared to Sunday.

Our bodies are remarkable and recovery and return is something we can learn to love.

Well, it was our first "speed" workout on our new marathon training schedule. We got the required miles but not as many repetitions....cause the loop we were going to run ended up being further than we thought.... I promise not to do it again.
