I'm extending my slacker tendencies another few days I think. Foot swelling is down but not completely gone. My foot is the color of a rainbow - cool.

Nice video TW - I didn't have any trouble understanding your Northern Southern accent. The first sentence was very soft though and hard to understand. Prolly just my bad hearing though.

Nice to see Bob posting yesterday. I can't remember if he is new to us or not. If so, welcome.

No slacking for me today. I just did my circuit workout, almost an hour. HR in the 130's (felt higher but who knows about the accuracy of those monitors on the cardio machine). After work I'll run 3 miles.

i wasn't a slacker, nor did I pretend to be a slacker yesterday and then change my mind . . .

speaking of . . . Lab, I thought of you when I was in Newport because I won a doorprize at my CLE for $42 of Rogue Ale currency and since I was solo, I wasn't sure I'd be able to spend it all, but said to myself WWLD? So, I bought beer to bring home with me.

5 mile run last night. It was warm. Still mid/upper 80's at 5:45.

I liked your video Tom. Now I can picture in my mind what it is you are doing when canewalking/running. And I am not southern accent impaired so I even knew what you were saying.

A belated congrats to Nancy on the Inaugural Wintrop Marathon. I've been to Wintrop before - cute town. Congrats to Paul on his race also.

slackers of the world untie! wait, that's dyslexics...

4 slacker miles at 8:20, followed by 4 unslacked miles at 7:06. sure is easier to run that pace with a 4mi warmup than a 15mi warmup. plus temps were chilly again at 78f, brrr!

who knew michael franti was a runner? well, my gf knew... but i didn't. rats! next time he comes to tucson i'm going to run with that guy. we can talk about the lyric to my favorite song of his, "hey hey hey"...

So out of the goodness of my heart I start the thread yesterday because none of you lazy bums will do it, and what do I get for it? That clown hally comes in and changes the title!

Well, I didn't slack today, 5+ miles at just under MP for me, then my final core workout. Just light runs and stretching from here on. Spareribs

mc, I'm more of a fan of the 8 minute warm up (1 mile). It seems like whatever pace I run my second mile, that's the pace I can maintain the easiest. Assuming I don't do something really stoopid like run a sub-7:00 mile.

Getting ready to travel to Alfred NY for a Change Order meeting. Yee haw. I'll wave as I drive past, CNY. Going to try the Southern Tier Expressway this time.

I like sharpening workouts. You get to run fast but you don't really work too hard. I was supposed to run 4 400's at 10k race pace and 2 200's at 5k race pace, but the 400's came really easy at about 1 mile to 5k race pace, and the 200's were a bit faster. Before you knew it, I was running back at a slog pace. Total of 4.5 miles, sure didn't feel like it. Was just fun.

Edited to add that September is now officially my high mileage month for 2010, my highest for the past 12 months, and my 3rd highest month ever; It will become my highest month ever if I get in 4 miles on the hotel treadmill tomorrow before my meeting, plus a 3 miler on Thursday back in Albania.

8 miles, with 6x0.25 embedded. 8:03 pace overall, although Mr. Garmin was a little optimistic today.

Actually, the Top 3 Cranky Men have posted just before me <swoon> although mc is acting mighty happy lately. ETA: Too slow. irun is definitely NOT cranky, nor is BTY.

Another eventful day at the breakwater. Just before a turn, I look down and see Sammy Gray Seal playing with the minnows, swimming from beneath them which brought them to the surface. <chomp> Two seagulls were waiting anxiously for one of their own silvery minnows, and just above that, a blue heron.

Hi everyone. Well, I didn't slack today, ran 7.8 miles, but it hardly seems notable. Yesterday I ended up eating way too much food. Why is it when I don't run, I want to eat more? Sounds like something I should already know the answer to....

tomwhite, I liked the video, though my first thought was that I could see people trying the maneuver and then tripping themselves with the poles. Seems like a modicum of coordination is necessary, especially since the poles are placed behind you rather than in front where you can see them. Have you had anyone else try your technique? Might be interesting to see how they do with them. I remember when I was teaching certain exercises, using the BOSU and fitball and other balance equipment, moves that seemed second nature for me were totally unaccessible for the people taking my classes. Just something to consider, having the "man on the street" try things out.

Hang in there KS, you'll be healed soon enough.

Okay. Another thing. That video is lacking in tw zingers and one-liners, 'though I do believe I understood the "don't do dat" as the finale.

Agreed, irun. It's been quite the year for SSightings of marine wildlife. Possibly a result of the record-breaking Sockeye run?

Hmmmm, salmon...

ETA: 7.5 miles at 7:51/mi. It was 75F and 68% humidity, which is WAY too muggy for the PNW. I lost 4 lbs of water weight. Egads.
