My mileage is down this month with a taper and recovery week from the marathon.

Sorry about the dnf Rip; but likely a wise choice on your part. Live to race another day.

Heme - how you feeling this a.m.?

Morning Ks....what's your milage down to..... a measly 250 or so

Wise move rip, but " I ran the 17th mile in 8:55". Don't rub it in....I'd love to run the FIRST mile in 8:55 .

Well, the MIL is here, came in on a bus from Lake Havasu, AZ......missed a connection (no fault of hers) and turned a 28 hr. bus ride into a 40 hr. thrill packed extravaganza. Instead of getting here yesterday at 3:30 PM, she got here at 3AM this morning. Got up at 2AM to pick her up and stayed up, so no run today. Just as well, finished the month with over twice as much as last month. (Not that that's saying much)

Just got back from an hour on the eliptical at a good effort. Legs are sore overall but at least it was the first pain free run in a couple months and the foot seems to be doing pretty good. After another week off I am hoping to be able to get back to regular training.

I never count eliptical miles so my mileage will be very low this month even with my longest run in over 7 years. On the bright side, I only ran 6 times this month and did 67.88 miles so I had a hefty 11.3 miles/run!!

Gee that sounds awfully familiar, Rip. Didn't I tell you NOT to do what I did!!! Nice try on the 50K... your splits were wicked fast!

TW, guess I might be joining you in the pool.... that is if I don't get asthma again.

Hi Johnny & KS!

Back at work today and totally discombobulated. Had intended to do a spin class this morning, but instead had to to backtrack home as I left my laptop by the front door (and I had gone out the back!). Had a lot of 'splaining to do about the race.... most coworkers having difficulty with the whole concept. Except for the new girl who started yesterday... seems the rest of the staff told her I was a fellow runner. She's a former Canadian marathon champion and currently manages a 36 minute 10K..... way, WAY out of my league for sure. But she's also a coach and eager to talk running with us, so I guess I can hit her up for a little bit of advice once and a while.... she's already confirmed what I thought about the tear... that it's not all that bad (I can go up on my toes easily).

Enjoy your day, everyone!!

rip, too bad about the dnf, but you made a wise decision.

40 hrs on a bus! That should cure anybody from fear of flying.

Hi Heme. That's a great resource to have in the office! Take care of that tear now.

ks, it's good to rest once a year. You've been on a strong training jag for a long time.

I fogot to mention 2 things about the half on Sunday: 1. It was my first race running nakid. I forgot my garmin at home and run totally on feel. I wish I know what my splits were, but I gave up trying to figure them out on the course. The clocks were few and far between, and I forgot to check my start time anyway. 2. I was psyched to get a legit parking spot on the street and avoid paying a $12 parking fee. Bad news: when I returned to my beautiful, white, bmw convertible with M-performance pkg, I saw that someone wasn't too good at parallel parking and totally scuffed the rear quarter panel while backing in behind me. No note either. Grrrr. I had this car less than a month/700 miles. Oh well, nothing that can't be fixed.

6 miles this morning EZ. Some minor effects from the race, but not bad.

I was thinking the same thing, Johnny. Especially after reading an article on naked running in RW last month!! Good job on the half, Mike and shame about the car.. some people's children!

Got in an easy spin before dinner, no standing to keep the stress off the calf. Funny the things that motivate us. Our gym at work has an incentive award of a tech shirt for anyone who gets in 50X 30 minute workouts by the end of June. I still need 14, but will be off for a week vacation. After being told at the ultra on the weekend that I registered too late for a shirt (WTF!!!), somehow I now really want this. I know...dumb!

3 very slow recovery miles for me tonight - definitely NOT nekid (perish the thought!). No camera either. One of these days, I will get some photos; my route tonight paralleled the old highway - not particularly scenic. My right calf was more than a little painful and I noticed a dime-size blue area that looks like a burst vein or something along those lines right where my leg has felt like I had a "catch" when running the last couple days. I don't know if I pinched it in my ice pack/wrap this morning or if something blew. The whole lower leg felt hot while I was running...well it still has a heat sensation. I'm sure it's nothing, but I would like to insert some cuss words here - use your imagination. I have enough c**p going on without something interfering with my running!
