Did some barbell overhead presses and kipping pull ups this morning. I finally started getting the timing and coordination of the kip right -- it's a much different pull up from the conventional dead hang pull up. You end up flexing and extending the hips in a rhythm.

Plan to run after work, weather should be decent, lower 50s, not too much wind.

Good morning, folks.

I had a very good run yesterday. I was feeling crummy early in the day, but I felt better as the day went on. And I was feeling even better after I began the run. I ended up doing 13 miles at a 8:27 pace, which I think is pretty darn good considering how I felt early in the day. My cold didn't seem to affect the run, other than the fact that I was launching snot rockets about every 10 seconds (TMI?). I probably lost more weight on that run thru my nose than I did thru my sweat glands...

Today will be an easy few miles on the TM. I still have the stuffiness in my nose, but for the most part I feel just fine.

Have a great day, everybody!

I'm running with Janet this morning. Probably around 12 or so. I didn't end up running my second run last night, I was still a bit sore from the weekend.

Have great runs today, everyone!!

Feel better, sickos!

I laughed so much last night, catching up on the postings...you peoples are crazy funny!

Me, well, all funny people need an audience!

Yesterday and today are my off days...I feel pretty good after Sunday's 6 miler, tomorrow I've got 4 scheduled.

QOY - My SO is not very interested in running; funny, considering he's the one who got me back into running originally. But so far can't complain, he takes more 'me' time doing his stand-up (um, EVERY Friday and Saturday night, for starters) and I complain far more about the lack of time together. So, good example of it being about balance of me time and we time, not the running per se.

Okay, I'm going to be late for work while I work out my thoughts on this...good runs to all today!!

I had an idea last night. My four long days before the 10k are 4 milers and 5 milers. So what would it hurt if I run the required distance, walk a half mile to regain my wind, then run the 2.2 or 1.2 (depending on original distance) to simulate the 10k distance. I might do that to get my body used to that distance. Does that sound daft?

Maples - if you're feeling good, and you want to run 6.25 or even 7 miles as a long run leading up to the 10k, I think you'd be fine. It's up to you, and how you feel though. If you wanted to run 4, take a little walk break, and then run 2 or so more, I think that would be fine too. That's a good way to build up to longer distances.

I ran 5 easy last night, and probably more or less the same tonight. I'm planning on a really lightweight tempo run tomorrow night. 7 or so miles tomorrow night with 3-4 at MarathonPace, not the usual 15k-1/2 pace I've been running my tempo at. I'll probably repeat that workout early next week (like Tuesday).

Morning Gang -

Up at 4:20 to get to health club by 5:00. Got pulled over a block from the health club. Cop comes to window, asks me where I'm going, I respond, then he looks directly at me and says, "I pulled you over because of your face . . . I mean because you were speeding." WTF? I know I don't look my best at 5:00 a.m., but c'mon!! Anyway - I just got a warning, so it's gonna be a good day!

Got speedworkout in, 9 miles total: 2 x (24 minutes at 9:40 pace + 12 min. at 7:45 pace) + 1 mile at 9:40. I'll do weights on my lunch hour.

Good runs to all!

Well I knew your avatar picture was beautiful but this is a first. A kr 30s wimmin so smokin that she almost gets a traffic citation for being hot. That's impressive pretty lady. I think you just raised the bar for the other 30s wimmins.

'Morning folks.

Got 4.5 on the mill last night. Will go for a few miles tonight outside.. maybe 4-5ish. Then tomorrow, it's another 4 (probably) on the mill. After that, I'm taking Thurs/Fri/Sat off completely, as rest days before the HM.

I'm already starting my "WTF was I thinking" mindset, but I know when it's all said and done, I'll be glad that I signed up.

Just until then... oiy..........

Hey Ali, how are the pull ups going?

If you're having trouble with the progression, it may well be worth considering trying to work a kip, it may end up being easier to perform kipping pull ups, at least in terms of number that can be done, but it does involve a bit of learning the coordination and timing.

This is the video clip I watched last night that taught me how to get the kip --

http://media.crossfit.com/cf-video/eva-on-kipping.wmv

Prae That's the first NYT post of yours I read...good stuff! I didn't know that Lagat had the second fastest 1500m time nor did I know he wasn't technically eligible to compete in Athens for Kenya. He was all class after that race, congratulating El G in a very sincere way. I would love to see TWO American medallists in the 1500 in Beijing with Webb finally putting it all together in a big international competition and duking it out with Lagat. Of course, we probably won't be able to see the race well through all the haze and pollution!

Looks like another nice day here - easy but hilly 7.5 on tap. We're coming up on the end of the quarter so some of my lunch buddies are scrambling to get the last routes in so they can be "qualified" lunch runners. (Reminder fort hose who don't recall or care - we have 18 official lunchtime routes and if you run each one at least once you're considered qualified, which gives you the right to talk smack).

RFTL Getting busted for public hawtness...nice!
