...cause he's grumpy.

this was going to be my second 100 mile week. pah! five days with no running now, and i'm still sneezing and sniffling. damn germ factories.

gone through a bottle of zicam... nothing. taking tums to try to block a histamine reaction... doesn't seem to be working. taking ibuprofen and chlorpheniramine maleate... still sneezing. no dairy, no spicy food, no alcohol... no effect. eating three apples a day. none of my usual tricks seem to be helping.

it'll be an interesting count down to race day, assuming i ever get over this crap.

cheer me up and tell me about your great running today... grrr....

I woke up a bit early this morning and the sun was just peeking up over the ocean, so I headed out for a nice long 10 mile run along the shoreline on Maui. Belted out an effortless 9 min/mile. Saw other runners out doing the same thing - taking advantage of the virtually empty beaches before all the tourists and sun worshippers monopolized the area. It was serene and calm this morning, with just the lightest ocean breeze kissing my cheeks.

then my alarm went off, woke up, fell out of bed, dragged a comb across my head, found my way downstairs and drank a cup.

mc - this is lousy timing, eh? I still have my cold too. 3 weeks now. Runny nose, coughing, but no temp or body aches, so I'm running with it. Just keep up with the fluid intake and, as tw says, soak your head in Listerine.

Nice dream sequence Tammy! And I have a snow shovel reserved for you during our next storm.

8 miles on the TM (roads not quite ready for both me and cars.) Nice GA effort, felt greta (sorry mc).

DD is heading back to NYC. Just in time too. We've run out of clean towels.

Nice Beatles reference, Tammy. I have run on our anniversary before and then wondered why I did, so I'm taking today as a rest day. I think she's actually enjoying having me around. Laser tag with the big family soon.

Happy Anniversary Opie. And speaking of that, it's the Saint's and my 25th today.

4.5 easy on the dirt track today. This weekend I am going to try 10 on Saturday and 20 on Sunday for my first 30-mile weekend since 2004.

MC, a cold lasts 7 days, nothing else you can do, but I hope yours goes away soon. Spareribs

Sorry for my lack of posting, life getting in the way. Managed to facebook a bit and Twitter but they work well on the mobile phone.

I had the joy of 3.5 miles of running with my 9 year old daughter. No race no pressure we just went for a run together.

Sorry to hear you're feeling carpy, mc, but at least you're not trying to run your way through it. Nothing like feeling bad AND run down. I've heard if you do nothing for your cold, it'll last about 7 days. But if you treat it like you've been doing, it's gone in a week. Sorry...

Tammy, wouldn't that be nice? Ahhh... running in Hawaii is nice. I think I'll keep that image in my mind for awhile.

Happy Anniversary, Opie! Who'd a thunk she'd like having you around? You silly man. It's when she doesn't that you stop counting the anniversaries.

And Happy Anniversary to Ribs and the Saint, too! She's certainly a tolerant woman.

I'm enjoying this time off from work a little bit too much. I just got dressed around 1 pm. Haven't ventured out of the house yet at all, except to see that while it's warmed up a bit it's a little breezy. Since I'm a windchill-phobe, I'm going to head downstairs to the treadmill soon for at least 5, no more than 10 miles. How's that for a target?

Happy Anniversary both to Opie and to Ribs and the Saint!

Hiya, Gobi!!

Nada for me today.... I'd hoped to get out crosscountry skiiing, but we decided we weren't quite finished spending money. Today we replaced the TV in the bedroom (courtesy of some old Best Buy gift cards I'd never used) and I got myself a new point-and-shoot digital camera, so I can stop borrowing DH's. I think it's time to let the credit card cool down a wee bit.

Was going to test drive the new Mizunos on my favourite trail tomorrow, but one of my girlfriends just called to see if I wanted to ski with her tomorrow. Will be glad for the company!

Happy Anniversaries today Ribs and Opie

I jumped on the treadmill and started going with the intent of running a steady workout. I increased the pace a little at 15 minutes and again at 40. I started working a little harder so I just upped the pace again at 50 minutes and turned it into a hard workout. With massage therapy scheduled tomorrow, I will take the day off and hit it hard the last two days of the year. Ended up with 5.22 miles in 60 minutes (11:29 pace) 3,299 ft elevation gain.

Happy anniversaries Opie and Ribs! I like seeing high numbered anniversaries.

My PT had me run three miles today to see if there was any improvement with my knee. It's difficult to be objective where this is concerned, but the most honest answer I can give is 'maybe'. I'll run three more on Thursday, which will ironically give me 1201 miles for the year, which will be my highest mileage year ever, surpassing 2006 when I had 1200 miles. This really surprised me when I went back and looked at all my previous yearly mileages; I thought I ran way more in both 2007 and 2008.

CARP! Just had a nice post with mentions of several above whisked away into the ether. There is something funky going on with the relationship between the cursor and the pointer and my words get all mixed up, or I accidentally hit some secret key combination, but don't know what it is because I type too fast - and POOF - all gone.

Happy Anniversary, Ribs and Opie!

3 yesterday, 3 tomorrow, which means I must go to bed NOW. MC - get well soon! I'll be using an mcsolar mix for the last 3-4 miles of my marathon Saturday!
