Morning ks!

Nuthin' for me either. It's annual meeting week for me. I'm off to Seattle today to do some sort of presentation; I forgot what it's on. Doesn't really matter, I'd wing it regardless. Then back to Portland for two more days of sitting around and eating bad food. Good thing I'm in taper mode for Sunday's half marathon.

Morning KS, and all who follow. Nothing to report here either, other than a well-deserved rest day. I tend to go too long between them. But after yesterday's long run, I'm finding it's not that difficult to rationalize a day off today.

OK, now to catch up....

Nice fast bits there, Mike. FB isn't the dark side, though. After all, I'm there.

Sorry about the computer issues, Tammy. Glad you enjoyed your weekend in the big city.

{{{KS's rebellious knee}}}

So tomwhite, are you still feeling sweaty and righteous (love that phrase!) from Sunday's run? Even if not, you can always try to "remember real good".

Congrats, Opie!! Way cool!

Laura, please take care of yourself! Your knees, hips... and your heart that loves to run. {{{Laura}}}

Sounds like a nice day for you, CNY, with a boomer meetup as well. Did they serve hot chocolate at the Hot Chocolate Run?

mc, are you injured? or just recovering? I am so way behind here, especially about all you faster folk... ha...

Hi Pink! I need to start officially working on core stuff again. Once we get the replacement flooring down in the playroom, all the furniture from that room can come out of my exercise room, and I can finally get at my stability balls and bosu once more. We're a little slow to do things here... the playroom was flooded out back in March....

Did Gobi run a bazillion miles at some uncomprehensible speed AGAIN?? Congrats to you!

Labduck, 8 miles in an hour, that's a PBJ Special, right? Excellent!!

Hi BTY! Hi Heme! Hi Econo!

Hey mariposai, I found the dancing banana for you!Congrats to your hubby for running that mile. It all starts with those first steps...

Did I miss anyone? whew...

As for yesterday's run, the wind made things quite challenging. It was flurrying, so the temps were about 30F and gusting to 17mph if not much more. These long runs are supposed to be slow, I know that, but at about 11 or 12 miles, I found myself talking to myself outloud: "I love this running thing, right? Well, why do I not love it right now?" Average pace was 10:27, which was really on target for me, but at times it was all I could do to maintain that.

Conversation with DD as I was picking her up from school:

DD: How many miles did you run today, mom?

OM: 15.

DD: Fifteen? Wow, you're like a real marathoner now!

OM: .... heh, hardly....

DD: So you run all these long runs now, are they like so easy now? You just crank out the miles like nothing, right?

OM: Ya know, I keep expecting that to be the case as well. But no, they're still REALLY HARD....

Then it was a quick scramble to come home, eat some leftover vegan hot and sour soup (with tofu and mushrooms, spicy and yummy!) and get showered, dressed and ready to meet MrOM at his office for dinner in the city with some work colleagues. I missed the first train, barely made it to the next train one town over, and we drove in to make the dinner reservation on time. Was a very pleasant evening, considering I was a spouse who didn't know anyone else. The salmon was delicious. And yes, I did have dessert: peanut butter ice cream swirl served over dark chocolate mousse, puff pastry and clover honey. Yum!

Some retail therapy and laundry on the schedule for today. Have a lovely Tuesday, everyone!

OM, I can see why you had no time to comment yesterday! Nice work on that LR. I tend to drink too much at those functions when I'm the spouse who doesn't know anyone else. Speaking of drinking, I never did get that beer the other day, Labduck, so it would probably be a good idea today. I have a tempo run planned after work, target pace 8:23, to get me ready for the race Saturday.

Opie, I was actually quite proud of myself for not having too much wine, especially since I hadn't eaten much after my run.

I just emailed my massage therapist for an appointment. My right shoulderblade has been bothering me for quite a while now. I haven't gone to yoga in at least a week, which tends to aggravate things more than help them lately. Legs feel fine though.

I haven't been to yoga in about a month because it was aggravating my foot. I'd like to try going back but will probably wait until next week because I don't want to add anything before the race.

LOL OM - it was just a marathon. The opposite side to yours then, if I fail to win MiniG expects a full explanation. The only events I am not expected to win are triathlons and thats because she knows I can't swim!!!!!!

Stayed up and watched England win the 2nd test last night and pleased me a lot but boy was I tired today!!!!!

Training has been 2 separate turbo sessions of 45 minutes in duration, my running buddy has had to cancel due to his father collapsing so I may now swim and only do a light run this evening.

As we move into the party season I have to admit I'm a bit of a Christmas Humbug so have turned down all party invites except the one with my bike team and suddenly looks like I will miss that as we have guests staying. Not being a drinker my only concern over the holiday period is controlling my weight. I am rather fond of chocolate, pizza, ice cream..... the list goes on.

6.3 miles at dawn. A year ago I ran the Macau marathon and recovered in time for a pretty solid year with a couple of PR's, so I'm hopeful that I have a little time to get over this piriformis thing and get rolling for the new year...

We're on a roll...no slacking here either.

5 miles of recovery with a 1200 meter 10k race pace tempo interval on the way back in. About 9:20 pace while in recovery mode, about 7:00 pace while tempo-ing. Overall pace of 9:00/mile. Feeling like I'll be ready for tomorrow's midweek medium-long run prior to driving to Elmira for work.

another non-slacker checking in.

4 mi run at lunch. 1.75 mi w/u (10:12), followed by 4x1 min short hill repeats with recovery jogs downhill, then about another 1.5 mi c/d. ran the cool down at a 9:30 though. amazing how easy that 9:30 felt after those steep hill climbs.

Slacked-not. 8 miles at 8:33 avg.

Can someone please tell me the difference between GA and MP? I'm getting confused, but I think I did one of those.

OM, what a delightful day you had yesterday. Nice LR.

{{Econo}} if you find a secret to the piriformis issue please let me know. It has become my new normal.

Erika and Ribs have both been missing lately. Coincidence? I think not!

Non slacker checking in. I did 6 brisk towpath miles in blowing flurries. Strange how deserted the towpath is in this wonderful weather.

I took yesterday off to take the cat to the vet for a checkup. He upped his insulin a little bit. It's pretty easy giving him the injections...I just throw a few treats on the floor and he doesn't even know I'm poking him. He's already put a pound back on. The vet is an ironman triathlete so we spent most of our time talking about running and trails. We were the last appointment of the day so had lots of time to talk.

tw, my dad used to say he shoveled 'partly cloudy' off of our driveway.

Fine run yesterday, OM!

Congratulations, gobi.

My run was much flatter than yours, rip. I ran the same route as last Monday night's run, not consciously, but I'm glad I did because it's like a science experiment-the run was set up exactly the same-warmup, 2.5 mile tempo & cooldown. Last week's paces: 11:14, 8:35 & 11:52. This week's: 9:59, 8:22 & 10:04. The difference is the form work, focusing on fluidity and carrying the arm swing far enough forward & back. I'm so happy! I finished just as a cold rain was starting so that's another reason to be happy, not to mention the Sam Adams Honey Porter I'm enjoying (at room temperature).

eta-those paces are from Sport Tracks. Garmin Connect says it was faster so who knows?

Nice run Opie. I'm glad you're happy. Good beer selection too. I never did get around to sending any to you the other night because I was worried that some Oklahoma State Trooper might come and arrest me for illegal beer shipment or some other strange OK beer law...

Made the dash to Seattle, did my presentation, and then skedaddled back to Portland. On the way back, I did stop off and visit Dove at work. We both remarked that it was the first time either of us had seen each other in grown-up clothes. Btw, she cleans up spectacularly good.

I had scheduled an easy 5 miler for tonight, but since it was raining so hard when I got home, and I have a tendency to run too fast in the rain, I went to the gym and procured a treadmill. It's a good thing I was able to listen to music with drums from SS's BIL, otherwise I think I would have bailed out of sheer boredom. 5 miles at an 8:03/mi average. Just exactly what I wanted to do.
