18 miles of logging roads in Trinidad yesterday. Beautiful area that I absolutely will not run in by myself. Very much in the wilds of Humboldt County with nobody for miles, except 4-legged creatures much larger and stronger than me that wouldn't hesitate a moment to make me their dinner.

Unfortunately, the legs were very tired and heavy, and my buddy ended up totally and completely nauseated when she took a salt on an empty stomach, thus reducing us to walking for 2+ miles of the last 5, but that's okay.

Followed that up with 10 road miles in the late morning, trying to dodge rain storms.

Our tree has been up since right after Thanksgiving, but, alas, I have no photos. And I am SO ready for it to go . . . a . . . way! Soon! Soon!

no pics of our tree yet, but here is a kinda sneak peek ;)

@fatozzig - Also nice to run somewhere different!

@MeriG - Your little one is a cutey :)

I had a great weekend of running despite the cold temps. Total: 30M with 4:45 of running over two days.

Saturday: 20M on singletrack trail in 4-5 inches of snow and 5-6F temps. The footing actually wasn't that bad, even on the hills. Alot of deer activity.

I was so cold right after finishing that I could barely crack a smile.

Sunday: 10M on the same trail as Saturday. Felt very strong today. The trail was like a super highway and found I had no problem with the footing. On the hills, I shortened my stride so I wouldn't go anearobic and just kept on running.

a couple of short easy runs, pulling the sled. Watching Face book for updates for Tuscobia winter Ultra 50K, 75M and 150M (two 150 mile run finishers)!! and watched Just Jim's face book posts (yes while running a 100M). Eating loads and loads of fudge and other goodies at my families Christmas..

Jimbo is a little sore - but oh so proud of my toughest 100 mile finish to date, Ancient Oaks 100 in Florida. The course and the conditons just beat the snot out of me. The first thing was how long the night was! It never even entered my tiny little brain how that would affect me. But 14 hrs of darkness, jsu dragged like you wouldn't believe. It rained. And rained and rained. And rained some more. If I was guessing, there were around 12 hours of rain - thankfully not too too cold, but it was pretty miserable. Then there was the sand, deep sand is close to impossible to run in, and of course it got into my shoes and eventually caused me some blisters.....

Now that I have whined enough - I have to tell you, for a fat ass event, it is absolutely fabulous. Mike Melton and his volunteers put on an awesome race, and even though the only promise water, there was everything from McMuffins, to soups, to gourmet cup cakes. I discovered slabs of spam make a great ultra snack!

I hurt, a lot - but I will look back on this as an achievement, and the toughest physical challenge of my life. Ancient Oaks 100, in the books, 29:43.

Congrats on the 100 miler Jim! I love the huge old trees. That looks like a great course.

I ran the Seashore Nature Trail 50K as well. While I enjoyed the day I came in at 5:20 -- 20 min off my time last year and even further off my goal. It was still a great day for running and I enjoyed the trail. For some reason I'm more sore from the 50K than I was from the 50 miler a month ago. I suspect because the 50K course was flat and completely runnable.

Congrats to Jim, ding0, and Mobius!

I headed up to Fort Collins for the El Chubo Grande Fat Ass run. I originally planned for 50k but I had a nasty coughing fit just after the marathon turn off so I made a last minute switch. The parks and open spaces west of Fort Collins are awesome. Not a lot of elevation but a ton of steep hills and pretty scenery. Well worth the drive. Ginseng had to stay home :(

Quick plug: Colorado Springs will be hosting the 3rd of the Front Range Fat Ass runs next month on January 15. Here's the course description: http://antonkrupicka.blogspot.com/2010/11/ponderous-posterior-50k.html. Check out that big climb starting at mile 12! Ginseng and I will be there.

I managed to finish the HUFF 50k in Huntington, Indiana. It's actually 50k+ at 33 miles, but who's counting? The bitter cold, tough footing, and a slow 3rd lap relegated me to a 6:11, midpack finish. Nevertheless, 2nd Ultra of the season in the books.

Didn't get a chance to meet LastPlaceJason... maybe because he finished about an hour ahead of me!

I know it's not too extreme (other than the pain) but I ran the Santa Runs Tacoma 5k on Saturday.

I run two 5ks a year that are on the same course.

One for St. Patrick's Day and the other is a Santa Run.

I only run two because it takes that long for the painful memory to recede.

Racing at the edge of nausea for 3.1 miles is a lot different then going long.

Managed a 21:36 which was good for a 3rd place age group finish (45-49)

That bites. Maybe a big snow will hit Boulder and all the nice, clear trails will disappear and you won't be missing anything.
