Good morning, gang! Up and at em!

I always feel so peppy after a morning workout...... should really do it more often.

40 minutes of spin, followed by ~15 minutes of abs and core.

Knees have been bothering me a bit, mainly on the left, where they thought I was developing a meniscus issue in the fall. May have inbalanced with the Ferber exercises which didn't include adducters. Been icing and adding a few exercises for those (stability ball squats against wall with pilates ball squeezed between knees), and am seeing improvement, so am hoping this isn't worrisome.

Have a fantastic day everyone!!!

Heme's up!!! Thanks for starting us off, and take care of those knees!

The snow's piling up outside this morning and people have forgotten how to drive. I managed 8 TM miles, 6 at steady state 8:00 pace. All's well except this aggravating shoulder problem I've had for over a month. I must have done something while weight lifting. Fortunately it doesn't affect my running. I'll stay focused on lower body and core work for cross training until it feels better.

So Dr Dale made a pass, as did MS. Baba's back having a good run. Pro stopped by last week. It's like a reunion around here! Who'll show up next?

Morning, Heme!

Hey, I heard Dale was back and that, oddly enough, perked up my ears.

I lurk about from time to time but have been heads-down at the Ministry of Duct Tape and Baling Wire, where we have recently been put on notice that future purchases of new duct tape must be approved by the Deputy Minister. We are hereby encouraged to recycle old duct tape from previous applications.

Am now Sans Scot after close to 20 years, and although we are separating in the most civilized manner possible, this much life change comes with its own strain. I have been running a lot and enjoying muddy hilly X-C trail goodness for rehab of both body and soul. I ran a trio of increasingly stupid trail races late last year and am beginning the transition to road running for a spring marathon.

As I have a lot on my plate, I've had to severely trim online commitments, but I miss this place. Will continue to check in now and again...

I'm facing the same situation with my left elbow, the muscles and/or tendons there. DW thinks I'm stupid to continue my weights on the arms, so I guess I should at least tell Brooke about it, but I haven't felt the need since as you say, it doesn't affect my running.

Great to see you again, Sal.

Yes, that is a concern. I'm scheduled for 4 days of golf at the end of this month in Orlando with my regular foursome. And when they smell blood in the water, it ain't pretty.

Greetings from the Florida Keys. Actually not quite the keys as I am back in Miami as the library in Key Largo was closed for MLK. (normally closed on monday so had to get their vacation day in!!)

Bailed on the race monday as my legs were beyond sore but I did manage 32 minutes before the race started. I am being generous if I give myself 4 miles. Watched the race and then headed for Key West. This morning it was in the low 70's with over 90% humidity. It was a dry humidity too just the way I like it. I left the state park I was staying at and headed north on Rt 1. Turned around after 34 minutes when I got to a mile marker and got back in 31:23. Ended up with around 8.8 miles in 65:23. Starting to get used to this flatland running as the legs were sore when I started but I ran all the aches and pains out by about 50 minutes. Either that or I was just delirious from the heat.

Off to watch my first Heat game in person and then a few more days of vacationing.

I really don't feel bad for all of you stuck in the snow. I know I will be back in it shortly!!

Very happy that it's Track Tuesday, even though it was blustery out there! Warmup, strides & drills: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/64011042

Then I got to do one more 400 than last week, and that's the one I nailed: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/64011028

Cooldown & final strides: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/64011011 Then I got my Thermos out of my locker and drank my green smoothie. I had just enough left this morning after both kids asked me to make them one for breakfast! Then in a funny about-face, after I showered and changed, I was still hungry so I stopped by Arby's and had a sandwich & chips. Yes, I asked them to switch the curly fries to Simply Sea Salt chips.

6.26 miles total. These track workouts boost my confidence for racing and I'm sure they also boost my physical readiness.

Snice here today (snow + ice = not nice), so I opted for the treadmill, wimp that I am. The Yaktrax will be ordered from Running Warehouse in the next couple minutes though, so I'll be all set for the next storm...

7.5 miles on the belt to nowhere, playing the increasing speed game once more. Started at 6 mph like last time, though this time I upped it by a tenth every half mile (as opposed to every quarter, as I did last week). Got to 5 miles and brought it back down to the starting pace again, as a recovery interval. Then went up the progression once more, but stopped when I got to 7.5 miles. Tack on a half-mile walk and it was enough.

Nice to see MS here again! And dtoce too! Oh, and I missed welcoming JJVoo the other day, so.... welcome!

Gee, thanks, Rip. Have fun running in the warm flat lands... as you said, it won't last.

Gym workout today, elliptical and weights. Nothing exciting. Still cold here. Anyone surprised by that?? (no)

Easy on the kneezie, Heme.

I was double TeaTotally into my run today. It has been above thaw for a day or two and I had high hopes the Creeper would be in goot form.

It wasn't. Almost a 50/50 blend of snow and mud -snud I guess.

I was rudely reminded I ran 21 day before yesterday when I found there wasn't much as much gas under the pedal as I had presumed.

It was ~45 and drizzly too, but I managed 10.10 with 9.10 @about 9:08 pace excluding a couple of jelbreaks.

Drizzly is a good word JJJ. I run in that a lot. But not tonight; I tolerated four miles on the indoor track.

walked 1.5mi during lunch break from 9hours of teleconferencing... uggg.

tamster: after long hours of alcohol-aided pondering, i've decided that marathons suck. i'm racing 5ks and a mile race, plus a duathlon, from here to may. even turned down a free boston entry... i'm looking for immediate gratification for the next few months, and what better way than a mile road race? grrrr.

4 miles on the TM tonight after doctor's appt. I have gastritis brought about by the GI bug I got that's going around.. 3 days of Prilosec and I finally had a comfortable run tonight. Whew! the worst is over. The whole "bug ordeal" has taken the oomph outta me though and my pace this week has been very slow.
