Need some advice. Hubby broke the nail on his little toe. It broke up/down and the outside half ripped off. He's having trouble with hte skin rolling up and pinching against what is left of the nail. Yah, I know toenails are over-rated. Any suggestions on what to do until the nail grows back?

Well, if it's anything like my big toe was, if you cannot keep the skin out of the way it will become ingrown. And then they have to hack it out and it's a real annoying deal. I had to get it repeated 3x, finally they used a laser to destroy the nail bed on the outermost section so it would NEVER regrow. Every time it regrew, it grew directly into the skin. Arg! That was months of a pain in the foot!

On the other hand, if the toenail was already small on the little toe, and if it's anything like mine, it will become forever mangled and not be an issue. I haven't had a toenail on the little toe on either of my feet since 1990, when I ran my first marathon. There is nail material there, but it is kind of mangled and mashed. It never went in-grown, thank God, and I'm guessing it can never do that anymore due to it growing super soft. My toes are an example of beauty.
