I went for followup visit on Friday. Doc didn't take the bandage off, he told me to do it on Sunday. He gave me a prescription ointment, said to clean it with soap and water, wear a sock and loose fitting shoe for work.

He said I can get in the pool as soon as I want. Just don't stay in so long that the toe wrinkles and the sticthes pull out. And I can start biking and running whenever I feel ready. I may do some water running first.

I go back on Wednesday and he'll decide then when to take the sticthes out.

So, I'll miss a duathlon next weekend. All the guys in my AG are thankful.

The tri on Mar 30 is still up in the air.

Some nasty pics. Look if you dare.

What I've been wearing for the last 5 days

It cut the nail in half and a made good slice down the top of the toe. Looks like 9 stiches.

Where the saw tip came out. 4 stiches.

Those are actually pretty fine looking pics... you've got some nice healing going on. And you're darned lucky you didn't hit bone! (Might've had to buy a new blade. )
And I'd definitely stay out of the open water until it's all healed. Not so much for the "chumming the waters" aspect... more for the "gunk in the waters" aspect.

Heal quickly!

Dah, that's nuthin'. Guess having four boys (and multiple trips to the ER) has kinda dulled me...

btw--next time wear steel toed boots! I have 'em and I wear 'em! Quite the fashion statement when I had to take son #2 to the ER when he attempted to amputate his finger while cutting firewood.

Yikes...glad it wasn't more serious to begin with, and keep healing up there!

That's cool that you're allowed into the pool, but I was just thinking - are you allowed to push off the wall with those stitches and everything?

I've had steel toed boots in the past. I don't like them. I have to kneel down so much when working and the metal digs into the tops of my toes. Better than a saw blade I guess, but how often does that happen?

Maggie, Yes I'm doing the 1/4 IM at Lonestar. Or least I hope too. I'll see how the next couple of weeks goes.

Yeah - I have to wear steel caps for work, finally gave in and bought a pair couple of weeks ago. But I have never hurt my foot at work. Head, wrist, hand, knee. No feet. Touch wood!
