Good Morning, KickNation.

Erika's early snow gives a nice perspective to the diversity we enjoy as a group.

Rest Day for me.

Felt good when I woke, did some corewerk and a briskette mile walk, and feel even better.

A slice of cold homemade pizza.

Good morning JJJ and Ksrunner!

Sorry to hear about your heat and humidity Ksrunner. I sure had an ideal running condition, it was 47F when I left the house this morning.

Any news from Econo?

Great racing they had in victoria this weekend!

I still smile big when I think of Ladduckie running the last miles with his sister. What a great way to create memories with a loved one.

Winejunky, how is life treating you? I went to Ossyous BC for some wine tasting this weekend. They sure have some good wineries up there.

I was running out of time this morning, so I was able to fit in only 8 miles and not the 10 I wanted. Legs are feeling amazingly sproinky lately, and I want to keep it that way to the end. The 2x1.5 tempo miles at new 10k pace () felt hard enough, but not too hard. Off to a conference for the next three days. I will have limited internet access...you kids behave!

Nice workout Mariposai. suppose to be upper 40's at beginning of my race and much less humidity so I'm hopeful.

If I ran my sister in at a race we'd be arguing over somethning before we finished. Glad Lab can do that.

Mariposai, I was thinking of winejunky when I tasted and bought some wine out in Newport a few wknds ago. I bought a bottle of Root:1 and thought to myself "I wonder how WJ would rate this wine?"

johnny, I meant to comment on your recent getaway the other day, and I kept forgetting, but wanted to let you know I'm glad you had a chance to go visit with your friend. I'm sure that was a difficult but much needed visit to have with him.

yesterday was a total rest day for me, but today I'll get in a run at some point. Should hit upper 70's, so can't let a nice sunny day like that go to waste!

Morning, all!

Spin class for me this morning, plus core work..... felt oddly fatigued even after 2 days off and plenty of sleep over the weekend. The fatigue was mostly mental and came at about the same point in this workout as in the race on Saturday...30-40 minutes in. Got better as I went on. Hmmmm... wonder if this is a sign of something? I ate an apple and granola bar on the way to the class, and oatmeal before on Saturday, so should have been fueled OK.

Our days have been really nice here...... yesterday was a cool 15°C and sunny, so DH and I took a drive for points east in search of fresh apples. Found a new conservation area with plenty of cool trails, that a few friends had been talking about and took a mental note to see if I can talk my training partner into exploring together. Something to look forward to!!!!

Hey Tamster, living in Alaska has it's points. Like when the rest of you guys are melting in that H&H, I've got IRC most of the time.

ksrunr, I think I'd be the same way with my brother. Although I'd probably speed up to get away from him, so maybe that's an idea to try out!

Mariposai, when do you leave for your trip? I know you told me, but I forgot. I think you're as ready as can be for Athens. Can't wait to hear all about it and you'd better take a ton of pictures! Most of us will never get the opportunity to go, so will live it through your stories and photos.

I never did get down to the garage last night. Amazing how you can get busy with one thing, then another, fit making and eating dinner in there and geez, the night is gone. Gotta get a handle on that though because we have several deadlines coming up this week we need to meet! I'm thinking this may not be a good week to try for a peak in mileage. Will probably make it a "step back" and peek next week, then a two-week taper. That sounds about right. Roads were in pretty good shape this morning and no snow forecast so maybe we'll lose some of the icy stuff on the bike path. Hoping for a run outside after work tonight.

thanks Tammy

lets not say anything about our southern Oregon weather......we won't be able to keep 'em away.

5 miles......much more briskly than usual......felt good......my apathetic attitude toward running as of late seems to be disappearing ..........finally.

Cold here now, winter gear on the bike. Not icy yet but it is only a matter of time. Couple of nice runs as well today including over 5 miles at 6.52 pace. Feeling very smooth right now

Ks - it is the taper those runs rarely go well.

Listen to Gobi, ksrunr.

I'll try to catch up with ALL the weekend race action later, but I do know that it rained on the Portland Marathoners (Lab and sis shoulda been HERE!), so good for LabSis for toughing it out, and for her dear brother for having all the right things to say. That's pretty cool. We missed you!

What a great weekend! Man, that Pro gets around, doesn't he? I felt I didn't have enough face time with MM, Pro, and Econo (she's fine, thank goodness!) SO glad I got to know formerlyrunninginDC and, at long, long last, Aija. I wish you ALL lived a lot closer.

What an awesome weekend! Spectacular weather in Victoria, beautiful scenery every step of the way (which amazes me -- every single kilometer was pretty!), great crowd support, wonderful friends, a great big tasty fun Thanksgiving feast...it goes on and on!

Also my first (unnecessary) ride in an ambulance. I just bonked early and bonked badly and it could be for quite a variety of reasons, but I was darned hungry and a protein bar from one of the paramedics was what brought me around. I felt like the biggest dork. "oh, I was just hungry!"

Still swamped at work with no end in sight until late June, really, so I apologize for not getting on to read the threads.

econo sure does go to lengths to get a protein bar.

glad you are okay and that was all that was needed to get you feeling better.

oh, I have to tell you that those hot pink skull & crossbones hand warmers you gave me were a huge hit at David's jog-a-thon last week. The girls just loved them! I was told "Those are Sick!" - which is a good thing I gather.

so thanks for making me so "sick" among the 5th grade girl crowd!

donated platelets, but the nurse managed to bungle the needle a couple of times and it took twice as long as normal. after two "that's gonna leave a scar" comments from them, my hematoma cleared up miraculously, and somebody will be getting a load of my platelets afterall. it's never been so difficult to sit there and bleed before...

4 miles in the park, plus a lot of foam rolling... bagged the track w/o tonight, not feeling the need for speed... scheduled a massage for Friday, hoping that will fix my growing PITA....

Glad to hear you're OK, Econo. Your positive attitude literally shines through, regardless of how you ran your race, and that's the most important thing.

Somehow I've lost my luster today. The theme of yoga class last night was resilience, and I think I need to hone that a bit for myself. The teacher talked about how some people have happy endings in the stories of their lives, and others do not. He suggested that we all have the option to create happy endings for ourselves. And if you have an unhappy ending? Then that just means the story isn't over yet! Sounds good to me.

Mariposai -- what was that you ran -- a 10K in 45-something?! But...but...that's TERRIFIC! I forgot to comment on that earlier.

Econo, sorry about the bonk. Look at the bright side -- being hungry is easy to fix. An injury isn't. Hope you are feeling okay.

I had planned to run before work but 35 degrees and dark this morning ended up sounding terrible so decided to go later. Well, later rarely works out for me and after putting aside a million reasons why I should skip the run tonight, I finally got out the door for one loop around the lake and home (4 miles). I lustered through the run and the 60 degrees and sunshine was wonderful.

Anyone else fascinated by the trapped Chilean miners story?
