Mornin' all!

I'm running behind already and have got way too much to do today.....

Came in early for spin class, followed by 15 minutes of core and abs. Took it a bit easy due to yesterday's TM slog.

BTW... don't know if anyone noticed, but Bap posted a note yesterday on Saturday's thread...... he got a nice big fat PR in a half marathon on Saturday!

Excellent racing, Bap!!!

Thanks for starting us out Heme!

bad flare-up, tom, bad flare-up! Was Claire too tough on your training session last week?

Nice racing Bap!

How long does it take Gobi to recover from a 50K? I'm guessing not nearly as long as it would take someone like me, for instance . . .

I'm saddened by Lab's news yesterday. I'm sure not as sad, mad, frustrated as he is though. I noticed you ran 14 over the weekend - is that what did it? how did you feel during that 14?

I have a follow up to my low back with my chiro today. and then plan on going to the track after work and running some intervals.

Heme, I think BAP meant he was 9 minutes slower than his PR, but still a good time considering his illness.

You mean it's not going to go on my "permanent record" if I don't? Yeah, the inner-nerd never really does die, does it? ;)

Well, since I'm here, I might as well report my run. 5.5 miles in the park on new snow, not enough to justify wearing my new Yaktrax, but it took me a good 20 minutes to get them on my shoes, damnit, and so I was going to wear them! Actually felt kinda spring in them, like I was running downhill the whole time or something. Would've gone longer but I had to be home for an appointment. Ah, it felt good to run! Seems this recent hamstring injury is really behind me now (ha).

Lab, that's just not right! I'm sending healing vibes {{{{{{Lab}}}}}}

It's astounding how Gobi's body can take the punishment.

In either case, good racing Bap!

It was snowing this morning, not a lot, but enough to make the footing too slick. And the roads are already getting narrow with all the snow banks that have been built up. So off to the TM. 8 miles, 6 at steady state 8:00 pace. Felt good. But this residual right AT pain is getting bothersome. I'll go easy tomorrow.

Evening, sorry to hear people have issues.

I ran 5km at lunchtime and did some intervals on the turbo this evening. The legs are tired but working so as always I have used the 2 day rule. In reality I expect to run hard on Saturday but don't be surprised if I do intervals tomorrow.

Heme - I know the bloke who wrote this one he is what I call an ultra plodder collector who does MDS/BadWater etc.... He is on the extreme crusade.

Nice chap though. As someone who runs ultras and has done half ironmans I found it really funny.

As luck would have it, I had a PT appointment scheduled for the day after my knee went kaput. Told her where the nasty pain was this time, she did some poking, prodding, twisting, and pulling and announced "You irritated the crap out of your LCL". She then did some contortionist-like stretching to my leg, applied a funky tape job, and then told me to go run "until it hurts again or you go six miles, then ice". I ran 6.5 miles. And I'm icing now. :)

I also saw Shalane Flanagan out for and "easy" stroll. She's cute. And it was 52° and partly sunny. MUCH better day all around than yesterday. Woot!

Hi Irish!

interesting recommendation by your PT Lab - to run even though you irritated the crap out of the knee. How did the 6 + miles feel?

I had fun at the track tonight. I might not have thought it was fun at the time, but I block out bad memories quickly and easily.

2 mi warm up (8.42 and 8.54 - where the hell did that come from?)

followed by 4x4 min intervals with 3 min recoveries in between. My first interval was something like a 7:14. I knew that was too fast. I was right because I couldn't maintain that pace on the next 3. The next ones were more like 7:30ish. Still fast for me though.

ended up with a total of 5.5 miles tonight, 47:11.

stretching out tonight and doing core work. I've been a bit more faithful on my core work at least 4-5 evenings a week and I'm starting to feel the results. not SEE the results though. still got that layer of padding to work though.

Tammy, nice job on the intervals; you'll get a very good reward for your toil. My run was painless, probably because of the magic taping job by my PT. The physical therapy clinic I'm now using deals with athletes only. They have three PTs, and they all have their own specialties. Running and gymnastics are the ones for mine. Their philosophy is to keep the athlete in training while healing their injuries. I run whatever she tells me to do; she's now my de facto coach. What's kind of funny is what she thinks is a restricted training schedule isn't much different than my normal program. She's used to marathoners.

OM, I think you'll be getting your letter next year so just remember what we did. And it's okay to mutter some rhetorical obscenities while tossing it in the bin.
