Before I go checking it out...how easy was it to get around the area on car on race day? Like...getting up early to pump your tires in transition, etc.

Have you tried googling for vacation rentals? They can be a great way to go. Especially if you have a few bodies along for the ride.

There are parking lots with shuttles. One is easier to just walk. There are volunteers with pumps if you don't want to carry one around.

it's the North Pole Inn in Wilmington. We've taken recommendations from this friend before and he seems to like housing a little isolated, not in the brouhaha.<br><br>
we stayed at the Summit and it was okay, but it looks like it's booked, wow

It's the town before LP. I want to say it's 10-12 miles away, but takes about 20 minutes to get to LP. (driving in the area is slow as there are bikers everywhere on the only highway to town). It'll work if you have someone to drive you in, because the driver might have a hard time finding parking
