Don't be lonely, tomwhite....

Maybe I should post twice, since I ran twice? 3.25 miles this morning on my own, then 4.3 miles with my running partner this afternoon. Tomorrow morning I run with a newbie runner friend of mine who is doing C25K and needs some moral support for her 28 minute run. I'm really looking forward to that.

No running miles for me & those bike miles add up a lot quicker. Paul, if you're still around here, do you follow the OSU cross country event? http://www.runbrooks.com/event/main/show/id/236691-Brooks-Cowboy-Jamboree-2010

Hi OM & TW!

Yay, Opie's here too!

Scary quiet here today!

My day started with attending a funeral for a colleague's 90 yr old father. It was a touching memorial, half in English and half in Mandarin.

Things went uphill from there, with a couple of hours of shoe and clothes shopping at the outlet mall on the way home. Got 3 pair of nice comfortable pumps for work, and two funky jackets that'll go well with the jeans we can wear to work now.

Changed in to running clothes when I got home and hit the nearby mountain bike trails for a gnarly 8.3 miles. Almost rolled that blinkin' ankle again, and the metatarsals hurt a bit by the end, but otherwise it was a lovely run.

Time for a beer!

Enjoy the day, all!

If you mention beer, I usually show up.

I ran a 10K race this morning. I really did not know what to expect since I have a full-blown cold, and I'm pretty darn tired from being on the road all week for work. I was really hoping to run under 41 minutes, but I wasn't sure I had 6:37/mi pace in me. I guess I was wrong. 40:12 for a 6:28/mi average. My mile splits were: 6:24, 6:34, 6:31, 6:26, 6:41 (uphill), 6:14 (downhill), 1:24 for the last 0.2 mile. Totally surprised the crap out of me. This was my second fastest 10K ever, just 5 seconds off my PR. I'm pleased. Luckily, the race ended right in front of a brewpub, so after Mrs. Labduck finished the 10K walk, we sauntered up to the bar and quaffed a few.

The only downside was my surgically repaired knee really started aching a few minutes after the race. The pain went away when I did my 1 mile cool down jog, and it does not hurt now. But it's still puzzling.

Played in a Member/Guest tournament today. And we won! Ham and egged it all day long.

Ribs, I luv that movie!

I'm really thrilled by OM's posts lately.

It's my last long weekend of running before I start my taper. I wanted 40+ miles for sat/sun, then easy next week. I'll run a final marathon on 10/10.

This year Bellingham Bay is a point-to-point. It's starting to get really windy, and if it keeps up we will have quite a headwind tomorrow. They are also predicting heavy rain.

Ugly conditions Dove. If it was me, I'd head over to Boundary Bay Brewing, or even better, Chuckanut Brewery, and hunker down for the day.

Nice race, Labduck! Curious about the knee.... I hope it's nothing.

My hotel is a little on the questionable side so I'm hunkering down tonight with a securely locked door and a beer or two.

Bad weather will be ok (or so i say while sitting in my warm, dry room)It will give me a chance to work on my mental toughness.

Lab, that is some studly running. Bravo. I hope the knee forgives you in the morning.

Dove, you're strong and you'll make the best of it, as you always do. And you just never know what the weather will be like around here. Good luck!

Like OM, I ran twice today. Trails first for an hour in the early morn, another half-hour on the dreaded TM to test out some new shoes, with an hour paddle wedged in between. Spectacular day. Two out of three with Mustang Sally.

Now to test out my pillow ....

Awesome 10k Lab. 6:28's........wow. And 6:14 for mile 6? Even if it was downhill, that's booking!

8 miles for me Saturday morning at the HS track, after dropping off my 2 youngest sons for their 2-hour bus trip to Utica for a Cross Country Invitational. I don't think this one finishes at the Matts' Brewery.

I ran my middle 6 miles mostly as a progression through my Easy Running zone - fell off a bit at the end as I'd gone a little too fast on mile 5. There was a tough wind for about 150 meters of each lap. 8:29 / :27 / :16 / :06 / 7:52 / 7:58.

The rest of the day was spent pulling roots out of the ground with a pick, then helping to keep over 100 people fed, safe, and entertained at our annual church hayride.

Gee, I'm sore this morning, but why could it be?
