You just have to remember that there are 3 downs in Canadian hockey and 4 downs in American hockey. :)

OMG Sporti if you have to pretend you are a runner how in hell are the rest of us supposed to get back to it with any degree if success. Presently I'm running about 30 minutes...and going over a whole mile. I'd really like to run 2 or 3 halfs later in the year, but I'd also like to be able to finish the same day I started.

Good to hear from you.

Almost a year ago while cross-country skiing (as near as we can figure it) I slightly tore the meniscus in my right knee near to the insertion point of the MCL. I remember the day well. I was running every day, gently, and it became increasingly painful so that on May 18th I had to stop. In fact, I couldn't sit in the car for more than 10 minutes without it being excrutiatingly painful.

Xrays confirmed mild osteo arthritis, and physical therapy diagnosed the meniscal tear. An MRI has confirmed the diagnosis and the doc (who was a runner too) put paid to any chance of a return. Essentially the tear is too neat to operate on, the arthritis too mild to do anything about except forbid running. I'm being fitted for braces so that I can keep up on the hiking and skiing (although I do that already). That's it. Done.

Gee Sporti that sure doesn't sound like your driven self. Injury? Illness? or merely the law of inertia taking hold? Mine has been the inertia thing. I get going either running, hiking or cycling, but it lapses too often. I'd like to have an excuse/reason but other than weighing 20 pounds too much I really don't have one. I don't think old age cuts it for me just yet. :)
