Yeah, things are ugly in Red Sox Nation these days. The only good news is that the Yankees flames out also. They might not have the turmoil that the Sox do, but they've still got plenty of problems of their own. Their best hitters are old, injury-prone, and/or just plain suck in the post-season. Their pitching staff consists of a fat guy who can opt out and hold the team hostage for zillions of dollars (Sabathia); and expensive guy who sucks (Burnett); a rookie who did great, but might be due for a sophomore slump (Nova), and a guy who can't stay healthy (Hughes). And there isn't much available on the free agent market that can help with this.

Yes, as a Sox fan, there isn't much to be happy about with the team, so I have to take my joy in the Yankees' problems...

I agree.. I never went "Yankee Lite " as youso aptly put it. Theo E canmove on. I suspect he is the reason for the current sproled frat boy attitude in the clubhouse. WIsh Terry Francona had stuck it out. I still think he is good - when he is in charge and not handcuffed. It was such an odd season - he left bad ptiching in so many times that there had to be something more to it all. This was the first year without Pitching Coach Jim Farrel- who I never really liked.. yet maybe it was he who was the glue and the command with the pitchers.

Well if for anything else, next season will be interesting - This one wa sbeyond painful! ( I had more fun watchng the Sox in the 70's when they lost ALL the time than this year!)

If Red Sox and their fans would go back to being Red Sox and not Yankees-Lite the world would be a far better place.

Although I'm a Phillies fan, since I'm born, bred, raised, and still live down here, I have always had a soft spot for the Sox. And, for both reasons, I have always hated the Yankees. Not that we saw either of them much, especially before inter-league play started.

I loved Ken Burn's documentary on baseball. One woman, who lived in the Boston area, was talking about her little boy being so into the Sox, and they were getting close (this was the infamous Bill Bruckner year) and was talking about winning the World Series, and the woman said (paraphrased) "I was struggling with how to impart this wisdom to my child that the Red Sox were NOT going to win".

Made me laugh.

But, they did win a years later. Which is why baseball is so cool.

Tech Tee- I have had to tell the war stories ( When I was kid... the Sox hardly ever won... etc ) to my kids since they have now grown up with the "new" Sox. My father called them "the Bums" more than he called them the Red Sox! But he still lietened or watched every game. It's fun to be fan .

Same with the Phillies. When I was growing up (60s and 70s) they sucked. It's only until very recently they have been good. Real good. And the kids don't know what we suffered through. Same with the Eagles.

Well, they MIGHT get a taste of what we went through with the Eagles this year.
