I'm relieved that it's only 72 right now, so the start of the softball tournament won't be too bad. It will get worse as the day goes on though. I don't think there's any shade at all at this field. I may have to take a break in car A/C between games.

Afternoon all! I got early this morning for a nice, chill 12 miler w/my friend Steph. It was nice to take it leisurely and break when we needed too + getting it done and enjoying the rest of the day was a good call.

Amy - good luck at your games, stay cool

Heading out to Medieval Times in a couple hours to celebrate Jason and a couple other friends' birthdays, should be a real hoot.

Hi all - I know Mindi is racing and Kris is volunteering; I wish any others of you speedy running/happy volunteering vibes

Going to head out for a few miles soon. Wish mother nature could take a big ass spoon and stir up the atmosphere a bit. I know many of you folks could use the cooler air over here, and I wouldn't mind some more summer-like weather myself

How'd the 5k go Mindi?

I ran over in St. Paul today with the training group and ended up seeing Brandy, Sage, Melissa (was Nettie also with you?! Too many people clumped together in both our groups and I didn't see you til you were pretty much past me), then I saw Melissa and Sage again about an hour and a half later. Dang, Brandy looks HAWT!!! Ended up with 15 miles total, with 8 x .25 mile hill drills in the middle up the Dam hill (with all kinds of crazy stuff - high legs, butt kicks, different paces, arms in the air, arms behind back, running backwards, etc. mixed in). Pushed the pace on the way back and it was HOT. I wasn't a fan of how long we stopped to do the hill drills (it was all the local Lifetime Run Clubs, so there were like 150 of us, so we had to wait for everyone to get there). But it worked parts of me that I don't normally work.

Sounds like the MSP group had a good day out there? Very Sad I missed the MSP Long Run today. I'm hoping there will be more for me to get up there and join in on!!

Probably just as well I didn't come up, I must have been wayy tired - I turned off the alarm at 5 and went back to sleep til 7 - for a total of 10 hours of sleep. Got up and cleaned up the kitchen, drank a cup of coffee and went beck to bed and slept for another hour or so. SO not like me. And I'm not sure if I was actually coughing a lot during the night or if I dreamed it, since I really haven't coughed since I've been up. Weird. But I thought maybe I was getting the cough bug that has made the rounds at work, my house, my Mom's house, and my sister's house.

So tomorrow will be my 15 miler - starting early to beat the heat. Today's workout was mowing the lawn and other yardwork - it was way overdue. ugh.

Also, MN Peeps, did you see the giant pink pig running in front of me this morning? Dude is crazy. It's the Saint's mascot costume and the dude is raising money for japan disaster relief by wearing that HOT and HEAVY mascot suit for the entire marathon (twin cities) and he's also trying to break the guiness world record for a marathon in a mascot costume. He did the entire workout with us this morning, even the hills. (Actualy at the top of each hill we had to do crunches, push ups, planks, etc and I didn't see him do those). I can't imagine how frickin hot and tired he was.

Hi all - after walking a half-mile to drop off a package at the post office, went from there to get my run in. 4 miles in my flats and a quarter mile in my socks for 4.75 mi altogether.

My leg is still getting random bouts of calmness to random pinched-nerve pains. I think I know where the trouble spot is, so hopefully my appointment next Friday with my fave ART specialist will do the trick of getting that area all cleared up

ETA: Doh, hit the submit button by accident. Congrats to all you MN peeps on what sounds like an awesome run together!

I totally blew my early start this morning. Seester Goon and family arrived last night after 9 pm and I grilled dinner for them at my Mom's and then headed home so I didn't get to bed til 11. . DS has a house guest this weekend and they were a little loud for DD's tastes and there were words in the middle of the night and I had to get up and crack some skulls. OK not really but you get my point. Because staying up late causes weird things to happen to his sleep, DS was sleepwalking this a.m. and I had to get him to a more conscious state before I'd feel comfortable leaving the house. Now I'm ready and it's hot and humid out already. We're supposed to get to my Mom's sometime this morning for brunch. Don't think I'm going to get to 15 miles today.

Happy long running this weekend! Hope everybody has lovely runs!

My running partner and I adjusted our long runs to match our week of not-so-good running. We ran 6 and walked 2. Just as well. I got new shoes yesterday and they were not comfy on the ball of my foot. Not sure if it's the shoes or something else.

Ugh. My 13 (maybe 14) mile goal didn't happen. Heat/humidity got the best of me and at 10.4 (which was a struggle in itself) I threw in the towel. Next week will offer another LR opportunity, and if by some chance it doesn't, the fact that I didn't make today's goal really isn't going to matter anyway. :)

Ailarie - I was in exactly the same boat. I planned to get up at 4:30 this am to get my run in bright and early. BUT, I ended up chatting with my neighbor until 11:30 last night, so when the alarm went off at 4:30, I was having none of it. I didn't end up getting out until 6. The first hour was fine, my paces were decent and my HR was nice and low (hey! I found my HRM). Every minute after that was a complete suffer fest. When I got back, it was over 82 degrees and "feels like" 96. My nice paces feel into the 9:30s and 40s and my HR was 175!!

I also got new shoes and they sucked - my toenails were hurting like crazy. So I bagged it at 14 and a quarter and took an ice bath. Me: ah, sweet ice bath. James: mom, that is not sweet. you are crazy.

Oh - and the 5K yesterday was great. It didn't start until 10, so it was super hot. I ran it with James and the heat really took a toll on him. We finished in 27:xx. It was fun running through Lambeau - we actually did it again after we had finished and even did a "Lambeau Leap."
