Hoping for the best for the ailing fathers and peace and rest for the families supporting them.

Happy birthday Bard!

An hour on the elliptical for me. I have to skip yoga tonight. Maybe tomorrow will really be a run day if my leg holds up. This is harder than it should be!

Yes - vibes and love to 30s Daddies and big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Bard!

It is also DS#1's birthday - 10 years old! He woke up before 6 he was so excited. We did gifts and I made the boys a big breakfast. I am now gearing up to go run 14 miles in fantabulous 65 degree weather! Woot!

I am taking the day off to hang out with the boys - long run, a little work at home, birthday lunch, then pool party with loads of cousins! Should be a blast.

Oh - and fun (?): we are done interviewing nannies and are going to make an offer to one of the girls today. I really hope she works out!

Congrats on the new digs Missy!!

Sounds like a great way to spend the day, Mindi! It's going to be another scorcher here today....

My parents are headed back over here today. We're going to paint things (chairs, a trunk, my tv cart), and then on Sunday we head up to Maryland to visit my brother for a few days.

I'm starving...I actually worked out again this morning! 3 miles on the elliptical, then a bit of stretching. Nice and sweaty...let's see if I can keep it up. It's been several days already.

Isn't everything????

(((KP))) I missed the explanation of why your dad needs long-term care. I'm so sorry you are going through this.

Thanks for the vibes for my dad. He had blood leaking into his stomach from one of his blood vessels, plus they said he's frequently dizzy b/c he doesn't eat enough and gets dehydrated. HELLO, I've been saying this for TWO FREAKING YEARS, but does anyone listen to me?? Just called the ICU, but he's downstairs getting a Cat-Scan this morning. I will try again in a bit. He's probably in the hospital for another few days to get his strength back up and make sure the patchwork they did in his stomach works.

Much-slower-than-it-should-have-been run this morning. I'm almost at the point of retiring and finding a new (less frustrating) sport. I just don't know what yet.

RiL - Yah for DS becoming an old man at the ripe age of 10! Also Yah for finding a sitter that meets your requirements/expectations.

Bard - Happy Brrf--day, Daaahling!

I was a bad girl and completely blew off all exercise yesterday. The run was questionable anyway, but then I got sidetracked and quite frankly, forgot about the rest. Today I may run a bit after work (I'm at home again), but I don't have the best record for doing that, so we'll wait and see. Worst case, if I have a cutback week, so be it. That might turn out to be a blessing in disguise, anyway!

Hi all - first off, continued vibes and love to all our ailing 30s Dads

Yesterday ended up getting home from work a lot later than I was aiming. Somehow managed to squeeze in a run (longest run in my minimal shoes to date), a short stretch and strengthen, dinner, some Skype time, and family mingling with three siblings and their kiddos. Today work promises to be busy again (maybe I should just post when it actually slows down heh) and maybe a strengthening session.

Mindi - good to hear you landed a babysitter, and happy birthday to the DS!

Finally, last but definitely not least

Happy Birthday Kris!

You already know how I think the world of you, but I'll just keep on saying it anyway

OOOOH WEEEE. So it WAS cooler this morning, but by the time we got done with gifts and making the boys a big old breakfast, it was already in the mid 70s when I got out. Almost 80 at the finish and I was sweating like an entire football team. BUT, I got 14 miles in. And it is "garage sale weekend" in my town and I saw a ton of people I knew while running around. In case any of you are counting, that is 3.5, 9, 11 and 14 for me so far this week. Yes, my legs are tired. Time for an ice bath.

((((Theia))))) - hope your dad gets better AND your running improves. Since you sound a bit down, I am actually going to give you several hugs. :) ((((Theia)))) ((((Theia))))

Have a good day peeps! Bard - what do you have planned?

Oh - fun - just looked at the clock - DS was born at 10:43 (EST) 10 years ago. 10 years ago right NOW I became a mom.

Nothing new to report other than walking the dog last night. I am running 3-5 after work..maybe mowing the lawn too

Not Fun: I swear, why can't people READ. If I send you an email that says "X is wrong, please follow up with Mr. Y about the issue" because it has been going on for months and they promised it would be fixed 2.5 weeks ago....how do you think it is acceptable to wait 4 business days and then say "everything looks good to me". Did you READ the email? No? and now Mr Y is on vacation for 10 days.

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes! It's been a bit hectic this morning so far, and I didn't get my coffee until after 10 a.m. I don't think I have recovered yet from that lack. I am going to have Mediterranean for lunch, hopefully with some of my work friends. This afternoon will be calmer. I made PB brownies with chocolate chips last night, and just sent an IM to my workgroup inviting them to stop by later this afternoon to have one.

My evening plans are kind of up in the air. I'm supposed to have choir rehearsal, the last one before a performance on Saturday at the local Irish Festival. However, the director's husband is having a heart cath today so she may cancel. She wanted to see how it went before making the call. Unfortunately, since it is up in the air, I was unable to make alternate plans with anyone, so my evening will be spent solo. However, Moonie sent me some nice treats that I saved to have today, including some ginger fudge sauce that I will put on the homemade vanilla ice cream I made.

con't thoughts out to the 30s poppas.

doc appt went.... ok. he thinks its runner's knee. i don't think it is b/c i've had it before and the symptoms i've had are way different (i.e. pain at night waking me up, tingling etc) but he also did a buncha exams that didn't to point towards soft tissue injury. so, in a way, thats reassuring. runner's knee i can deal with. he prescribed PT but i'll just do the exercises at home.

AK made up for the previous night's crap sleep by sleeping 14 hours! not sure what the girl is up to i'll take it! i woke up to her making noises at 8:45 this morning. thats the latest i've slept in in the past year. lmao.

Hi all. Nice to see you and catch up a little tiny bit on your lives!!!

I'm so sorry to see that some of your fathers are having some trouble. Obviously, I haven't been around too much, so I don't know the issues, but -- KP & Maria - I simply wish all the best for your dads, and for you while this gets worked out.

Happy Birthday, BARD!!!!!!!

I really do miss you guys. I am crazy busy with this job, and finishing up my teaching gig (hopefully not forever!!). Plus, DD is in town this week, so it has been extra-special hectic. Love having her here. Wish I could take time off.

Only downside to DD being here -- since we can't spend much time together during the day, I am reluctant to go to the gym and leave her for even longer. Then, we stay up late together to hang out and that makes it harder to get up and go to the gym in the morning! Ugh! Too many missed workout days this week. Will have to move in to the gym over the weekend.

Ok -- back to work!

I got in another run on the island this morning. 5 runs in 5 days. I'm pretty happy with that. This one was a short one (3.something miles), but I ran up to the top of a big hill to a castle inhabited by some Contessa from Belgium, or some shit like that. Geez, this island is hilly. And humid...

I've had some busy days and I'm beat. Thursday last week, I gave blood. It was my 25th time so I got a pin. I didn't run that day. Ran on friday and had to get DH to pick me up on the way back. That never happens but I just had no energy. We left shortly after to head to the U2 concert in Moncton. I ran 10 miles that day then had a swim. Drove home the next day. Was on my sister's parade float (she won a prize for best commercial entry). Ran the Johnathan Skeete 3 Mile race on monday. Finished in 27 and change (I was pushing Evelyn in the stroller). It was swampy warm. Ran the Action Week 5 Miler last night, finished in 42:41. Pretty pleased with that. But on my run this morning my legs were dead again. Marathon training and running short races doesn't seem to go well for me. I guess giving blood didn't help, either. Or staying up late 2 nights in a row for rock and roll concerts. And camping. Ah well!
