I did 10 miles on the canal path. Did not get much sleep, so thought I would be dogging it -- but actually felt great! The weather was perfect so that probably helped...

These dark mornings are not really helping me wake up... 9 or so miles spent wishing I was still in bed and had brought gloves. At one point I was wondering if it was possible to run while sleeping. 50 clear and crisp degrees.

FB - upping the mileage? As Loopy said, great job toughing it out.

Loopy - nice job on the 10. I was too lazy to go the extra mile this morning so thanks for picking up the slack.

I am gonna head out for 5, may do a couple of them at HM pace. Sheetrock guys are sposed to be here any minute to wall up my 'Man Cave' I have been working on upstairs... then I can get to the running. I hate dealing w/ contractors.... even tho I was one for a few years.

Morning everyone! Super job getting out there already.

Hopefully I'll be re-adding doubles into my schedule next week since I feel like my stretching has helped my shins a lot. Hopefully that was the key I've been looking for the past few years. Hopefully my mileage will be creeping back up toward the 70s again. My goal is to be averaging 60-70mins for my main run and doubles on top of that. I've had weeks in the 70s before, but about 20-some miles of that were just shakeout pace.

CMJ-great workout last night! What constitutes elite in your group? Like 5k/10k guys? Or marathoners? That's cool you can do workouts with a big group like that...college all over again. :)

Looks like lots of good runs this morning! No time to comments on all but...

FB--are you headed towards over training?

Asics--not sure about actually sleeping while running, but I certainly do zone out!

David--GREAT photo!!! What's on the jersey?

Today is son2's 16th birthday! Beautiful weather here. Clear sky and crisp air. Since I'm doing my long run tomorrow I decided not to do a track workout today. Short 6 at a little faster than LR pace, which ended up being just slower than MP.

I'll be watching for Brown today. My new shoes are "out for delivery"!!!

Nice runs out there all and happy b-day to your son, 4boys! 13 early miles for me mostly with the group this morning. Man it was dark for a long time into the run, guess I better get used to it. That and long sleeves.

Busy morn...

Kevin - Nice going

zrun - Good going on the early 13. I choose long sleeves this morning too

4boys - Happy Birthday #2!

Alex - Sounds like a pretty studly plan to me. Lot's of miles.

BBS - Have a good run. Contractors; a necessary evil

RA - Now there's an idea. Multitasking, running and sleeping together. Would sure cure some of my ills

Jill - Nice 6er

Dave - Yep, that pic says a lot.

40 min here. Good all in all.

Morning everyone,

It's a gorgeous day here in NoVA. Missing out on a midday run is simply not allowed. I'll hit the roads with the work running buddy for 7-8 or so sometime today. Easy, easy easy.

FB/loopy - great job getting in the 10s in

Chances - hope the 7 was good. Now get back to work!

Jill - nice job on the 6

RA - too early to escalate on the gloves, or long sleeves (zrun), just IMHO. Nice runs though.

BBS - so what's going to be in your man cave? Sorry I just gotta ask.

Dave - nice pic and nice ride too.

4bm - nice 6

zrun - way to go on the early/dark baker's dozen

And Alex, to answer your question...DC Roadrunners Club "elites" are a pretty talented group...the best guy at the track last night starred at Yale in his college days and he still puts down a 4:30-ish mile time. They can throw down studly times at just about any distance (not just the men either, the women too). I'm not in their class, not even close, but generally can hang on to the second or third group, well ahead of the large pack of MOPers and BOPers. Pretty good for an old guy like me. I like doing track training with the club...always seems to bring a little extra out of me. PS you're racking up some serious miles...you are red-shirting this fall, right? Either way, you look like a hell of a future marathoner post-college.

Dan - almost forgot you...glad the sleep was there and enjoy those 40 minutes out there in the drizzle.

kevin - way to knock out that foursome

16min w/u, 6 hill sprints, more running and a 10min tempo (ran it a bit too hard I think), back to the track to do 4x400m at 81-83 w/ 200m jog, and 10min c/d. 75mins total, and I didn't have to do it all alone. I ran with another kid sitting out this season, a freshman, and we get along great, so it will be nice having a workout partner. Kinda sore all over now...off to clan up the house before the guys' team comes over for pre-meet pasta. Yuck, I hate dishes.

Jill,

It is just the weather kicking my ass. My body has never done well dealing with the humidity and training solo with no one to bitch to at 5 in the morning :-D doesnt make the long runs any easier.
