Good Morning all.....

I set the alarm for 4:15 so that I could stretch and get in my planned intervals workout while it was still cool outside. Plan was 1 mile warm up, 4 miles at 7:30, 800 meter recovery, 1 mile at 6:50, 1 mile cool down. I did manage to run the four mile interval in 30:07 (7:34 / 7:36 / 7:29 / 7:28) without working especially hard - it was a challenge though - but I bagged the attempt at 1 mile in 6:51 after the first 1/4 mile. I ran that first lap in 1:45 and just could tell I didn't have it in me; so I went right into a 1/2 mile cool down and headed home.

Total of 6.25 miles, but I hope to head out at lunch time for a very short run with coworkers.

Enjoy.

ETA 4 miles in 39:32 at lunch, but my $%^& coworkers went out early and did intervals. They are in SOOO much trouble.

Resting today.. did my yoga dvd last night & wow my legs were extremely tight (both of them) and calves and hamstrings.. guess that's a lesson, can't blow off the yoga. Feeling much straighter this morning, woohoo :) calves are better, but would be happier with a day of rest, so I'm listening.

Good morning. Cute avatar, Rindaroo.

Checking in while I eat a bowl of cereal and before I have to shower and then drive 350 miles across the state. I ran 10 miles this morning. My neighbor dropped me off on her way to work and I ran home. At first I was dreading the solitary run because I'm used to long runs with friends or DH. However, I actually entertained myself pretty well today; it was sure was a beautiful morning running across the top of the rims with a view of the city and surrounding areas. :D

Good afternoon everyone. Scheduled rest day for me today, which is just as well since it's over 90 degrees out with high humidity. We're expecting cooler temps starting Sunday, though, so I'm looking forward to more running time.

School starts here on next Tuesday so the traffic is going to be exponentially worse. That's the only thing I dislike about the Fall.

Nice 10 miler Choovie! And good runs from others online.

Enjoy your day,

4 miles, nothing special.

I see we're just about to have our 100,000th post in the Master's forum. Maybe an automatic BQ for the lucky poster......or at least a pair of compression socks.

Where's the post count? I think it would be nice to win something.... anything...

6 steamy miles in the park. Not as hard as yesterday's run, but still quite challenging. My legs would just not move. I looked at my phone once I got back to the car (the rotary dial app isn't available for the Droid, too bad) and the temp was 92F, humidity 43%. Now I don't consider that very high humidity, but still it felt pretty icky out there. Then I noticed the spinning little exclamation mark.... an alert regarding air quality for my area. Supposedly it's an Air Quality Action Day here, which means that the ground level ozone "may approach or exceed unhealthy standards". And here I was thinking I had a really tough run only because I went running at noon.

I'm really tired today so I'll just do a minimum run with my beginners (3 miles). Last night I was so hungry for protein that I downed a 12 oz steak.... That's a big deal for a mostly vegetarian. I had bacon on Sunday, too. I guess I need to quit thinking of myself as a non-meat eater.

Esther - you've become an running ANIMAL!

Weight training for me today plus core. I can't wait for tomorrow. I'll set a new personal mileage record since July 2 (last time I did a 14 miler). I'm thinking 11 or 12 - and doing it in brand new Kayanos!!

15 miles this morning at 6 am before various back-to-reality errands and appointments. I am trying to cling to that vacation feeling as it gets smacked away. It's all good.

Heme! Remember how last year when we met up during the trip to Toronto (great fun to see you of course) and there was a tornado the nigth before? Happened again when we were in Philly for vacation last week---tornado touched down close-by. I took refuge in a store called Naked Chocolate. Yum! I'll let y'all know where we decide to go next year, so you can stay away!

Racing Monday and wanted to front load the longer miles this week. I am feeling twitchy and ready to race---must stay calm and focused.

Just hope I don't see Jim Cantore broadcasting from my lawn. Sending good luck and strength to any and all in Earl's path.

Welcome back to the real world, Karin. Re-entry sucks.

I agree, Orange Mat is doing great! It's so fun to see you really getting into it like this. I love turtles.

Have fun, Mike!

Today was another gift of a day, and way too nice to spend in the office! Got out for a little-longer-than-I-should-have 6.2 miler at lunchtime. Oh it was nice! 55°, scattered clouds and lots of sunshine. Headed off down the trail (no roots or rocks on this one) and as I pass by a parking area at the bottom of the hill, I see my brother getting ready to do something. I never see him out, and he hardly ever runs, but he said it was just too nice to stay inside and he needed to get out. He didn't think he could run with me, but we talked a bit as we jogged, then he went back up the hill to do those trails and I kept on the way I was going. Thought about tons of stuff, some trips I have coming up and work stuff, etc and just enjoyed the day. It was great. And too fast again, but oh well. Effort was easy, backed off a couple times when it felt harder. Reluctantly returned to my office and snuck in just a little on the late side.

I always say feed your craving but that is a big steak! I too was craving protein after lifting this morning so I had one of those "disgusting" egg fast-food burritos. Taco Bueno.

Bike workout tonight. The new shoes come in next week and this pad from the doctor is pretty cool so hope to start running more often.

Good work getting up early, BTY, to get it (mostly) done. Smart move.

CNY, seems to me you are ALWAYS ready to race. I'd be a bit unnerved being beside you when you're all twitchy and ready to go. Go get 'er Monday!

Great post, evanf, even if you can't run slowly. ;)

Biting my tongue about planned obsolescence.

8.9 miles easy, followed by a wade-in to pick blackberries

I see where all the dog-walking services go at this time during the week. What a bunch of well-behaved cuties out there today. Okay, maybe one was slightly bad, hitting me in the back of the knees with a stick (more like a small log). Retrievers/labs just can't help themselves. :D

Heme, would you please get your trail-lovin' @ss out here for Thanksgiving? All the cool Canadians will be here (and some darn groovy AmURicans too), and we want you here too. Really, I think just Arf is missing. Gonna be big fun!

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I am not here much anymore. My new job, and the running and the kids in school and the coaching keeps me REALLY busy. I hope everyone is doing well. I still post run reports in the Run and Race Report section. I also just posted a sort of random thought about Marathon Training Redux in the Race Forum.

Have a good evening,

Hi FB! We've missed you indeed.

SS, I would dearly love to, but the big season finale for the trail series is on that weekend. Normally it falls in September, but the new RD moved everything around on us. Maybe next year, but thanks for the invite!!

CNY.... that run with you sure was fun! I'd forgotten that it was right after the tornado! Too strange that it happened again to you this year.

XT day today, with 30 minutes of elliptical and a lot of strength work.

Am looking forward to the break in the heat and getting back outside tomorrow morning. I've got my training partner all primed for a nice long run on the trails this weekend. Can hardly wait!!
