Morning Kicksters

RA- A friend of mine runs an outfit called 'Rockin Running Tours'. He gives guided running tours of Memphis, on foot. Its fairly cheap, and you get shirts and he'll take a bunch of pics for ya. I think its a great idea. As for the BBQ, they say Interstate BBQ is the best, or Rendeszvous. The 2nd is a nicer place, I've never been to either. IMHO- if you want good BBQ you make it yourself or get it from someone you know. There is a little joint by my house that has the best homestyle BBQ, but thats probably a litle far for you.

Hawk- Yes, I am traveling out your way, well East at least... to Chattanooga Tn for the Stump Jump 50K/11mi. I'm doing the 11 of course, and right now I'm hoping that isn't too much w/ me being sick.

Basically no sleepp yesterday, then did 5 miles w/ the group which was a struggle at first, but smothed out a little toward the end.

Couldn't ask for better trail race weather conditionstis weekend. Low 47*, High 65* and sunny. I'm a little more than intimidated by this race after watching some YouTube videos. Said to be one of the most technical and tuffest 50ks in the Southeast. But that being said, I'm not exactly 'racing' it either. Just looking to have a good time (or try too w/ this sinus mess). I guess I still have a goal in the back of my head of 2 hrs... or at least around it. We'll see.

We are bout to load up and head that way. 6+ hour drive w/o a 5 year old and 4 month old... so may be an all day trip. Hoping I can squeeze in a run this evening or early tomorrow before the expo.

BBS - thanks for the tips. Enjoy the drive and you'll have a blast during the race (honest)... We did a two day drive when DD was a few months old. It was a lot harder when she was 2 and not sleeping most of the time. Dora the Explorer, Toy Story and Cars saved the day and most of my sanity.

Probably a rest day, taper and all that. Last night track was 2-4 * 1600. I did 3. I had planned on a slower pace but that didn't work to well. I even switched to group 2 but my buddy there decided to stay in front of me... anyway, splits were 6:02, 6:12, 6:09. All are roughly in my cruise interval pace range. The good news is that the workout helped get the last of the tightness out of my legs. The bad is that my big toe is still sore. It's probably sprained or something stupid like that. Nice.

On this day 21yrs ago, I said "I do". "Long" run this morning. Headed to the metro park to run circles. Not a bad run, just never felt good. Schedule said 12, I managed a short 11. Suspect I'm just not recovered. And I'm planning on racing Sunday. Uh, yah...

BBS--hope you are on the mend and will be up to racing.
