Okay, I cannot believe it's the middle of the month already!

Got up early for 9 miles with 5 at tempo. Pace improved since last week. Could it just be that I'm having a good week? Don't know, but I'll take it.

Morning...

Jill - Hey, let's not discount good weeks. Enjoy it. It may lead to another.

Loopy - Just another 10 on the canal eh? Nice going.

So, dog number one needed out at 1:30 while dog 2 pooped in the house at 4. An off night for them and for me. Me, I'm pissed and pooped. Nevertheless, shooting for 40 minutes. We'll see!

I decided to sleep in this morning, Not sure it helped as I felt just as tired. Oh well, I may run at lunch.

Anyway, I went to track last night, getting there just in time. It was a ladder - I thought it was going to be 400-800-1200-1600-1200-800-400 but it was switched to 400-400-800-1600-800-400-400. I took it easy on the 1st 400 but the time looks slow. Here are the details:

2* 400 (1:36, 1:30)
1* 800 (1:30 / 1:31 = 3:01)
1 * 1600 (1:33, 1:33, 1:29, 1:23 = 5:58)
1*800 (1:29/1:22 = 2:51)
2*400 (1:25 / 1:18)

RA- I will take that nice 1600 time anyday. Nice job on the laddr intervals.

My wife has to go in early or get some extra hours today, so no running for me today. If I am going to do 25 miles this week I will have to amp up the miles over the next couple of days. Maybe 6 or so tomorrow and 8 or 9 on Friday. I am fighting off a cold, which does not bother me while running. Have a great day everyone. I may do some stretching to loosen things up, so not a total rest day.

Up well before I need to be to work on more homework. Not sure what the workout will be tonight, but I'm assuming it will have a tempo and longer intervals. Hooray.

Have a great one people.

Dan, hope you can rest and relax your way to normalcy. It's so hard to stay mad at dogs too.

I'm not sure if I'll be getting a run in today... Had 8x400 @3k pace on the schedule, but I'm still dealing w/ sheetrock people (they are mudding it now), having to wait on them, etc.. Also, tonight is DSs last T-ball game of the year and I'd like to hit the sack kinda early so I can go watch. I did get out this morning and check a trail camera of mine on my way home, got some pics of some nice bucks

May be best if I take a rest day due to my knee.... I can't believe its already bothering me. I don't know what I'm gonna do if it gets bad again like it did in May..

Nice running out there Jill.

I see nothing's changed during my time away- still consistent as always Loopy.

Hope the run went well Dan.

Dang Asics- way to finish up strong on that track workout.

The mileage goals are nice, but be sure to get over that cold Kevin.

Do what you gotta do BBS. Nice pics

Well, today I dusted off the old GPS for the first time in months. I have just been slogging miles not paying attention to pace, so I wanted to see what kind of pace I can do. I'm sure I was going faster than normal since I was actually thinking about pace, but sure wasn't expecting to see 7:25 miles on the watch as it felt very nice and relaxed for the 7 miler. And just when I had finally been able to get myself to go into my marathon next month with no time goals...

Jill -- Of course, when things go poorly, we overanalyze it. We do it when things go well, too. It's what we do. Good job.

loopy -- Can I get a couple T-shirts with your avatars on them? Nice ten.

Dan -- Doggie doo as a post topic? I'm charmed. Rest up today, friend.

RA -- Very nice splits there, buddy.

kevin -- Use the rest day.

Alex -- Have a good speed session later. I'll steel myself to be awed by your pace.

BBS -- Cool pics. Lucky for them you weren't packin'.

MBH -- Hello, stranger! Pretty good pace there. And "no time goals" for a marathon? You? (Slaps knee.)

Me -- Looked at my schedule and realized I'm a day off, having done my intervals a day early. So, next for days looks like 8, 13, 6, 22. That's it for the last really tough training week of the cycle. So happy to have made it without serious injury.

Morning all,

Nice running already this AM. Looks like a lot of people hitting their stride this week. Hopefully the same is true for me, though the final verdict of that will come on Sunday.

Today will be perhaps my last pre-race run (XT + weights tomorrow, rest on Saturday). Probably just another easy 6 with an occasional HMP strider thrown in.

RA - nice track splits. You're going to displace me as king of the track. What am I thinking, that's Alex's title. OK, master's king of the track.

Jill - nice to see you having a good week. I didn't know you were having any bad weeks before though, I must admit.

loopy - nice job on the 10 again

kevin - shuffling workouts around to get the miles you need in...welcome to my world

Dan - those darn pets just don't read the memo or check the schedule sometimes. Rabbits even less so than dogs.

Alex - sounds like a fun workout

BBS - I don't know, those deer look kind of like most of us, ribs sticking out and all, kinda scrawny. Not sure that's good eatin', you might need to let them live an extra year.

MBH - ho hum 7:25 pace run. Nice.

ETA: Chances - you sneaky guy, snuck in while I was posting. You must be ready for taper mode now, yes?

Hawk - Yeah, I probably forgot to print out the schedule and read it to them. Nice running.

Rob - C'mon, there's lots of poop around here. Great that you stayed injury free.

MBH - Nice surprise eh? Sometimes the ol GPS brings gifts

40 sloggish minutes in the rain. Felt pretty good.

chances, you are so right. I've been trying NOT to overanalyze anything this cycle, though. My approach has been more focused on having fun. But, seeing some ever so slight improvements is making me push harder.

Hawk, this summer was aweful for me!! Heat, recovering from Pocono and low iron. I have only just now begun to feel better. Just in time to pull out a few weeks of training before Philly. How are you feeling about NYC?

Sneaking a post in while son4 does a math test. Up early for my long run. Racing on Sunday, so had to make sure I'm recovered by Sunday. Forcast was for 25% chance of rain until 9, then 70% the rest of the morning. And I woke to... rain. Ops, guess those jeans I left on the line got an extra rinse. I drove over to the other neighborhood to do 2.5m loops and be able to stop at the van rather than carry water. Legs were not feeling fresh this morning. Suck it up and just DO. Pouring rain for the first lap, then the sun came out. Lovely. Stopped at the van after laps 3 and 5, wanted to after 6 but was afraid that if I did, 7 wouldn't happen. Lap times of 23:22, 23:06, 23:14, 23:08, 23:22, 23:19, 23:49. Just shy of my distance, so snuck in that extra quarter mile 2:30. I left a note that I was doing 18 and expected time was 2:45. I ended up with 18 in 2:45:53, 9:13pace.

YES, by all means, please do

I don't want to do anything untoward, like linking to my shirt site, but it should be pretty easy to find (hint: just add ".com" to the words in my avatar).

4boys - way to crank out those even splits, that's some thursday morning run! I'm doing something similar tomorrow morning, lots of loops in order to have access to water.

Jill - nice 9, good for you!

RA - sounds like a solid night at the track

loopy - you are going to wear that path out

MBH - good news

Dan - way to slog it out in the rain

Couldn't get my bro to run with me this morning though we had a good time last night watching my 11-year old's football team win, so I was cautious and did 55 minutes on the elliptical. Means I will end up under 50 miles this week, but I figure focusing on the key workouts and minimizing pounding is my best shot at preventing the hamstring stuff from recurring.

Hope everyone else is having good runs (or rest).

Right, I remember the low-iron thing...I meant that more recently you've been running a lot better. And you've got a whopping 10 weeks until Philly...so no worries!

Re: NYC - I think I'm finally starting to turn the corner. Early results from training & late summer racing were not encouraging...I was slow, lacking endurance and fatigued. Then my last long run (21 miler) two weeks ago went badly. But since that day I've started to run more like my old self. This weekend's half is a BIG test. I don't know if I'm in PR shape (1:29:03) but I really want to nail down a good result that I can build on in the final 4 weeks of real training (before NYC taper kicks in).

So now you and everyone else know the answer to why I'm taking this weekend's non-target race so seriously...

Sounds like most everyone is doing well right now. Some serious good training going on. I think I better check the race calendar to see what everyone is up to. If you would like it updated let me know. I have been slacking as of late.

I guess I was wrong about the work...this week's focus must've been on some shorter stuff. After the w/u we did 4x150m strides, then 4x400 in 81-83 but with 100m jog. Then about 40mins tacked on to the end for 76mins. Hammies super sore from dead lifts yesterday. Curious as to what tomorrow morning's weight room workout will be.

Night all!
