Good morning, TEAM LIT!

Fun night of baseball-watching last night. My Red Sox completed an epic collapse along with the Braves, but I have to admit that it was fun to watch a full 162 game season come down to the last night for four teams. Kudos to the Rays and Cards for pulling together and winning when they had to, taking advantage of when others fell, and earning the hard way (and with a little bit of luck) a post-season birth. That is what team sports is all about! Good teams force their own luck, but they still have to take advantage of others, and both wild card teams did just that.

3.5 mile run early this morning. Was supposed to be a speed workout down at the track but I out lasted my alarm clock. No worries. I'll either make it up tomorrow or skip it entirely.

Great day, gang!

17 mile run this a.m. First 10 with J and R and last 6.5 just J and I and last .5 just me. Felt waaaaaaay better than ever on this distance. Putting the time in over the years with longer stuff makes all the difference. J and I even got in negative splits the last 3 miles and even did a sub 10 min mile. We high fived at mile 16 with the excitement of it all. Yes, we are geeky and love every minute of it. I am still glowing and finished 1.5 hours ago.

Hope everyone else is having a great day and glowing for whatever reason today!

MQ: Very happy to hear things are coming together. Please remember this feeling, because there will be times ahead where it won't feel as good, but if you store some of this in the memory bank you will be able to bridge the feeling to good when it might not be so. You've been kicking ass all summer... and you are almost there. Keep up the great work. But also know that as high as you are now, you may hit a low that is equally as emotional, so hold onto some of this good. You can't fake the training. It's in you now. So ignore bad feelings when they come up. Again, the training is in you. Bad feelings cannot take that away from you.

Pushed the knee just a tad in the weight room last night and still felt a little niggle upon rising this morning, so am swapping tomorrow's normal rest day for today. Kind of a shame, though...such a perfect day for running, just amazing weather right now. Soon to end, though. :(

Nicely done MQ.

Daily run this afternoon after work. Didn't feel like pushing the pace too much since I have 2 races this weekend. I got some nice news from my boss today. He found out they can reimburse me up to $100/year for race fees. I spend way more than that, but it's better than nothing. I keep telling them if they would sponsor me I would wear a shirt with their logo and store info in all my races to promote the store. My boss is looking into seeing if corporate will allow it.

Thor - when it comes to baseball watching, few things are bettwe than your favorite team's ticket to the playoff get punched out at the very last game of the season. I haven't felt much excitement about baseball these days... Indians collapsed a long time ago. Sorry to hear about the sox's epic collapse. Sadly also, Ichiro's 200hit streak came to end. After 10 yrs. I hope this is not the beginning of downhill for him. too young.

I watched ESPN's coverage of Sox's epic collapse repeatedly today while pushing the stationary bike. Boy, the fans' expression was just painful to watch. Know the feeling.

1hr of hard pedaling. Rib hurt a bit, I guess from deep/hard breathing. Really hoping to get back to running within a few days. patiance patiance.....

1hr Cross riding out on some trails.. probably better suited for mtb in some places, but fun regardless. Old race track from the 20s-30s converted to trails. Kind of neat land use.

Also brought ALL my mistresses to the LBS for repairs. BOTH my tires were shreded and deemed "unsuitable even for trainer work" by my LBS. I trust them, they didn't try to sell me anything. I used one old race tire and they had another one of my old tires lying around, so they got it ridable. And 4 new tubes. 2 for bike and 2 for spares as I was OUT.

Mtb got some brake and shifter work and 2 more tubes - no spares.

Cross bike some brake work and almost new tires, they deemed them acceptable for this season but probably wont make it another year.

Got to love a shop that doesn't try to push crap on ya. Better yet, I show up out of the blue, drop off 2 bikes, go ride, come back, give 'em the third all nasty and have them work on that while I pack up the others. Boyah! And only $40 the poorer... not bad
